Pedestals and Benches. A Pedestal is the highest form of praise. A Pedestal entertains the thought of deity. A Pedestal is above you and above all else. A Pedestal dominates and reigns supreme. A Bench is a place to stay and sit. A Bench can usually hold more than one person. A Bench is a place where one shares ideas, thoughts, tears and laugher. A Bench is a place of equality and peace. When one puts someone on a pedestal they become larger than you. One is overtaken by the glamour and immensity of the praised. You cannot help but challenge your beliefs and accommodate for her. The higher the pedestal is, the lower in importance you become. When one sits on a bench with someone, one learns from them. One is in a conversation where goodwill is ignited. You cannot but feel connected to a place you sit and rest. Rest is what we search as an everlonging moment imagined by many. Do not make pedestals for they are made of cold stone rock. Sit on benches instead for they are made of gold and silver. So break those pedestals where those girls once stood. Make benches instead where you and your friends can sit and talk. jalc 9/2/03
