Special Olympics 2004
The Special Olympics came to Worcester this year.  Special Olympics are games for special ed kids who participate in baskeball, skiing, skating, bowling, among other sports.  The Winter Games saw more than 1,400 volunteers who helped out as scorekeepers, escorts, referees, lackies, mules, crowd control, cheerleaders or at the reception desk.

My 1st personal experience was very good, I have great memories from the weekend, making new friends (volunteers and athletes alike) and making fun of the old ones!  Spending time with the athletes, clapping and cheering them on!
If you ever have a chance to do it, it is well worth it, you will never forget it!

More friends from work and beyond, Dave, Dave's friend,  Amy and Brenda at the Centrum, enjoying the opening ceremony
Let The Games Begin!!!  I volunteered as a scorekeeper, these were competitive games for sure!  You had to be there!
Jessica and Paula working the registration desk, my pals through thick and thin for most of Saturday!  Why were we there at 7am again?
The Dinner Dance Event took place at the Mall, The Special Athletes shown here shaking their booty to Mr. Sean Paul's Like Glue...oh yeah boy shake it!
So convinced by the work crew (Amy and Brenda and Wally) we went to Cactus Peete's; and what is this? Jessica got two cheeries with her drink!  I think she is in heaven and  enjoying her first one!
