| Details : | The heartland of the Chinese, the Tanjong constituency is one of Penang's hottest parliamentary seats.It is here that DAP secretary-general Lim Kit Siang made his debut in Penang politics in 1986. It has the largest number of pre-war houses in Penang and with the repeal of the Rent-Control Act coming into force on Jan 1 2000, rehousing will be a major issue. There are 6,214 rent-control buildings in Tanjung with a total 9,480 families. |
