WHY AM I CUPID'S KILLER
Many people who bump into me at
www.gay.com and www.wbs.net men's chatrooms are always asking me about my handle CUPID'S KILLER. It is too long a conversation so I always promise to post the explanation on my homepage. So here it is! Just in time for Valentine's Day. At first glance it may appear that I am a jaded little boy. Not so. I am madly in love with a boy and we are doing great. But I am a wee bit cynical and would classify myself as a satirical realist. I look at the reality of life and take great glee in poking fun at it.I strongly believe that the biggest obstacle to love is the romantic illusions that we all carry into the love experience. Only when we dismantle the illusions, that set us up for immature actions with lovers, will we be able to have a mature experience. When I came across the following poem in THE TORONTO SUN it became for me a beautiful metaphor for the destruction of those romantic illusions and inspired the handle. ENJOY!
Cupid's Last Arrow
(by Keith Patching)I finally found Cupid the other day,
after all these years of searching;
he was smoking a cigarette
and drinking coffee on his break.
He was caught off guard
but quickly reached for an arrow
and drew his bow.
But I shot him with a Magnum round,
right between the eyes
and he fell down dead,
with the bow and arrow
beside him on the ground...
"That's for all the broken hearts," I said
and walked away.
But now we all know that when the passions of the heart roar, all good common sense, rushes out the door! Hey, happens to me too! LOL!
