1. INSTALLATION
===============

After you have downloaded the submarin.zip file, simply rename it to submarin.exe by right-clicking on it with the mouse and choosing Rename.
To run the game, click with the mouse on the submarine.exe file.

2. HOW TO PLAY THE GAME
=======================

   You are the captain of a destroyer ship that hunts submarines. Your target is to sink as many submarines as possible in as fewer shots as
possible. GOOD LUCK!
   When you run the game, the game's window shows up. In it you see your ship's radar panel. It is a 10 x 10 table with its x and y coordinates starting at 0 and ending at 9. On the top of it, two labels (Shots:0) and (Hits:0) show the number of shots you 've fired so far and the number of submarines that you have already sunk.
   The three buttons, OK, Cancel and Exit, accept or cancel your next shot and exit the game, respectively.
   When the game begins the cursor blinks after the "Your shot(x,y)?"
label. Here the game waits for you to type two decimal positive numbers between 0 and 9. These are the coordinates of your shot.
   If you are certain about your shot, click on OK or press ENTER (or the combination of Alt-O keys). Otherwise if you want to enter different values click on Cancel or press Esc (or Alt-C).
   If you want to Exit the game at any time press Exit (or Alt-X).
   After you click on OK, your shot appears on the radar panel and
a message appears that notifies you about the results of your shot.
For example, a message might notify you that your shot was south west
of the submarine. This means that your next shot should be in the
opposite direction, i.e. north east, than the previous one in order to
get closer to the submarine. The game waits for your next shot.
   If you hit the submarine, a message "A direct hit!" appears and your
shots are erased from the radar panel. Your score, number of shots and
number of hits, appear on the top of the radar panel each time you
shoot or hit a submarine. The message "Another submarine has been
detected" appears and you are prompted for another round.
   If you manage to sink 10 submarines then the game is over and a
message appears that congratulates you for your promotion to admiral!

3. ABOUT THIS GAME
==================

   I found this game in an old paper which, unfortunately, I don't remember its title or author. The game was written in GW-BASIC and I initially modified it to run under QBASIC. However, in order to provide an .exe file (QBasic does not provide the possibility to create .exe files; it is an interpreter) I wrote the game in Visual Basic 5.0. However, I tried to keep the game as similar as possible to its initial creator.
   An attempt to compile the .bas file in Turbo Basic 1.0 did not have the expected results. Hence, the game is also available in QBASIC to anyone who might email me in: ikosta@rocketmail.com.
   Please don't hesitate to email me for bugs or suggestions for improvemts or comments that you may have.
   I hope that you like the game and keep visiting this web page

for new programs.
