So, today we actually had some rehearsal time outside on the practice field. I couldn't believe how hot it was. I thought I was going to pass out. Let me tell you, college marching standards are nearly triple that of HS standards, which is very demanding. We did drill-downs, practiced "new" techniques such as slides (transversing as some of you know it), we covered 8-5, 6-5, and 12 to 5 strides across the field; forwards and backwards, slides left and right. It was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun.
I can't wait until we actually start putting some drill to our music, but we still have some work to do on the music.
The other "two" songs we're playing is actually a two-in-one type thing of "Message in a Bottle" and "Roxanne" - which the two combined make up our closer which is VERY HIGH energy and is going to take a lot of patience and practice.
Anyway - I'm really proud of how well I'm doing, thus far anyway, and I'm proud that my friends are making it along just as well. Some of my friends made brass choir, trombone choir (tenor and bass), general wind ensembles and some perc. ensembles. I have a rather large variety of friends that I've made, and the cool (and ironic) thing is.. they're all music majors of some sort. It's really an interesting place to be where you have people who share the same passion for an art as much as you do yourself.
Well, I will close this, because classes start tomorrow - the first of which is Theory I with an absolute genius; Dr. Schroeder (I think I spelled that right).
I hope everyone is doing okay and is enjoying life as much as I am at the moment, and I miss you all very much, and I love you all - well.. some of you. Some of you can just suck it up ;)
LOL - j/k - I miss everybody! I want to give a shout to TCME as well, b/c I really miss you guys :D
Oh well... I will ttyl!! Bye!
