Hey guys,
Sorry for the long delay in posting. The internet was really crappy a couple of days ago and I couldn't do hardly anything. Now it seems to be working fine (*knocks on wood)
I will be getting pics up soon (if they aren't already), although I have...like...none at the moment. I have a picture of my jeans that I wore earlier today b/c I am an idiot; I wasn't paying attention and I stepped thigh-deep into freshly-poured cement for the sidewalk. A rather large group of people saw it happen, too. Needless to say, they are ruined :(
I moved in this past Wednesday. Marching preaseason totally kicked me ass. We haven't had practice since Friday, and I'm still a bit sore. My arms, especially, b/c I received an ancient school horn that is almost twice as heavy as the newer marching baritones. For those of you who don't know, those things get VERY heavy after carrying them for about... 10 minutes.
We haven't gotten into our drill yet :( - we've been doing a LOT of rehearsals on the music and a lot of breathing practice, b/c everybody knows the "showband" kicks butt!
I was worried about making the "right" group of friends, but...I shouldn't have. I've met some really awesome people who share the same strong passion for music as myself, which is really awesome. I've met a huge array people. Everything from the down-right Texan red-neck to Californian "sun dancers" (lol, inside joke.) - all the way up to Asian pianists ;) - lol. They are some really awesome people here, I must admit :) - and we always have a good time.
My move-in day was horrible. It took F-O-R-E-V-E-R to get all my crap into the dorm. Luckily I am on the first floor ;) - room 101 in the West Hall, so I'm lucky, lol.
There was a guy carrying a HUGE box of clothes and trying to open the doors to the hall's entrance, and... lol.. he dropped it and his shirts, socks, pants, and underwear littered the lawn on the hill of the entrance, lol. I felt bad for him.
There are nine marching baritones this year, me included, which is an awesome increase from ... 2... at my HS, lol. Our section leader is really cool and helpful, too. I have some music I have to play off to him tomorrow for memorization, and... it sucks - lol. I have like..5 songs I have to have memorized.
Our theme for our FIRST show this year is "String and the Police", which is a rock group from the..80s I think. They're alright I think.
Our opener is "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic". Mr. Leyva did his own arrangement, though, and I have to say it is pretty kick.
Our second song is "Every Breath You Take" - which has a baritone solo, but.. HAHA.. I'm not getting it. Too many upperclassmen.
I dunno if there is going to be more or not, but.. I'll find out I guess :)
My schedule has been changed a little bit. I now have:
Applied Violin
Applied Major (Euphonium)
Freshman English
Seminar (class to make sure you're not TOTALLY stupid.)
Intermeditate Algebra
Band
Piano Class I
P. Lab (Performance Lab)
String Orchestra (heck yea!)
Theory I
Sight Singing/Ear Training 1
I've already got most of my books (some aren't in the store yet), - I'm ready to go! Classes start two days from now on Wednesday :)
I miss everybody! Yeah, I've made friends here, and "family" so to speak, but I still miss my friends back home, and my family and relatives for sure :) (Happy Birthday Ethan :D )
Well.. now that my internet is working somewhat decently, I will try to post more and get some more pictures. :)
Bye for now!
