Tarot Readings ~~ also known as Cartomancy

Divination by using a tarot deck. Common meanings to some of the tarot cards can be found here.

Before doing a tarot reading ~ helpful hints!!

  1. Before beginning
    • Vacuum, sweep make the area around you clean. It shows respect for your cards.
  2. Set the mood
    • you may want to light some incense, play soft(non lyrical)music. Get rid of your distractions.
  3. Focus
    • After getting comfortable sitting in a chair, on the floor. Clear your mind of mundane thoughts. Focus on the question you want to know.
  4. Shuffle the cards
    • While shuffling you should be focusing on your question(os situation in question). Shuffle until you feel a sense of completion.
  5. After shuffling
    • Place your left hand (Or both hands) on the cards, and instilling your question in the cards. This gives them the chance to shuffle themselves. Concentrate on the concepts of clarity and truth.
  6. tarot reading blessing
    • You may wish to say a blessing before beginning. The sample (written by me)is located after this section.
  7. Cutting the deck
    • If your reading for your self cut the deck in 2 and place the bottom half on top. If doing a reading for someone else have them cut the deck.
  8. Drawing cards
    • I personally have the deck of cards to my left and as i draw one i place it face up in the spread. I analyze it as i draw it. It unravels the story as you draw your cards.
  9. Looking at the cards
    • Each card you turn up will be studied in this way. Study the picture for your first impressions(remember it is different for each person...no 2 people will get the same reading). Describe what you see on the cards(not what the book tells you to think). What do the characters seem to be doing? Thinking or feeling? What is the overall mood of the card? What does the picture represent to you. What do the symbols represent?
  10. A blank
    • If you get a blank on a card, skip it for now. Go back and look at the surrounding cards, this will give you an idea of what it means.
  11. Trends
    • Cards 4 and 5 are closely related in the cause and effect pattern. Same with cards 6 and 7.
  12. Trends 2
    • The significator, cover and cross are directly related to all the feelings, ideas, and experiences. They all pertain to the exact moment of the reading.

Tarot Card Blessing

I want to see the truth
no matter what it may be.
I want clarification in my life
no matter how it will be.
I am ready to begin
as it will harm none
this is my will, so mote it be done.
