Familiars Physical Familiars Your familiar could be disguised as the family pet. Have you ever received mental images from your pet (ex. may be an empty food dish). This type of communication is common between sensitive people and their Familiars. Astral-bodied familiar An animal that can not be with you physically because of limitations of environment. Is there statues, figurines that you collect of one or two types of animals? I collect unicorns, and Pegasus's. I admire their beauty and grace. Elemental spirits Ceremonial witches and magicians call upon elementals to occupy a magickal object such as a ring, necklace. Aiding them in their magical workings. Deceased humans Not advised. Sometimes those spirits can become more of a pain rather then helpful.

Familiars improve your life by warning you of dangers. They can aid your magickal workings by just being in the room, giving you part of their powers. Good familiars will be disruptive if you are not using the right magickal procedure.

How to attract a familiar There is two methods. One is consciously picking out an animal from a pound/shelter/newspaper add. The second is casting a spell for a familiar to enter your life (keep in mind don't have a specific creature in mind, be open to all animal life.

Rules to remember Not every animal you call a pet is a familiar Only an experienced witch should summon an elemental or deceased human. They are tricky to deal with and you need to know how to banish them if needed. If you end up with an entity more powerful then you, it might be trouble. Always show respect for your familiar, never command. Familiars choose you not the other way around. Study the animal that you attract, knowing more about it the more you can learn from it. Not all familiars will stay with you an entire lifetime. They teach you what you need to learn in an area of your life then move on.
