Jackie was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, an autoimmune disorder of the liver, in 2000. There is no cure for PBC, but there are life prolonging drugs available. Unfortunately, Jackie is no longer responding to these medications, and has no choice but to undergo a lifesaving liver transplant. One of Jackie's children will be the donor for the transplant.
Jackie worked as a RN for Carle Home Care until 2002 when she became too ill to work. She is the mother to ten children between the ages of 25 and 9 year old twin sons. She also has three grandchildren.
All proceeds from our benefits go to help Jackie and her family with the uncovered expenses they will incur due to the transplant. These include uncovered medical costs, transportation and lodging in Chicago for the family, as well as lost wages for the donor.
