| Howard Gardner spent his career studying the idea of multiple intelligences. Gardner has proven that different people learn better in different ways. I, being a junior in high school, have been exposed to all sorts of learning activities in school that require a different learning style to understand. I have been assigned to figure out how I learn best and I feel that this is a valuable assignment for me to do because it is important to know your strengths in learning. If you are aware of this then you can take advantage of parts of assignments that require your dominant learning style and you can try to work around the parts of the assignment that require your weaker learning styles. Although eleventh grade is a little late to still be discovering my learning strenghts and weakneses, here is what I think they are now. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Before taking the test, I thought that I was a logical/mathematical learner. I have always done well in math and science classes and I am good with numbers?. I also love to listen to music and I pretty much do everything better if there is music playing in the background. I have never really been interested in art, so I not sure if visual intelligence is one of my strenghts. I also have strong Linguistic intelligence. I enjoy reading a good book and telling stories. I memorize things easily and trivia quetions are my favorite. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| After taking the quiz, most of my predictions were confirmed and I also learned a lot more. At the top of my list of learning strenghts is Intrapersonal. This means I like to work alone and I like to have my own space. I am good at setting and persuing my own goals and I am always original. I hate being confused and I demand to fully understand things before I begin. I am also very motivated and opinionated. I scored an 80 in Naturalist intelligence. This means that I like the outdoors, animals, and knowing how things work. I like organizing and having a plan. As expected, I scored well in Logical/Mathematic thinking. This means I'm good with numbers and great with problem solving. I scored a 60 in verbal/linguistic thinking, which means I learn best by seeing, hearing, and writing words (note taking). | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| I am a very poor kinesthetic learner. I am bad at using body language, and I don't like moving around, touching, or talking to help me learn. I was slightly saddened to learn that I am bad at physical activities, but I was relieved to learn that these are just guidlines and that Gardner said your multiple intelligences can change over the years, months, weeks, and even sometimes days. Phew. I also scored very badly in visual learning. This means that I am not good at imagining things, designing and creating things, drawing, and building. I am not good at visualizing things or...dreaming. Tear. This is the one type of intelligence that I would most like to build on. I think it is important to be able to imagine things and be innovative. I would try to expand my horizons a little and be more creative and unorthodox to try to fulfill this task. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| So what about Chemistry Class? In order for me to do the best in Chemistry this year, I have to plan and organize my lab reports well and take good thourough notes. I have to do this becuase I am good at doing these things and I should take advantage of them. Since I am very intrapersonal, I need to continue to set goals and work hard to fulfill them. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
