EXPERIENCE

August 1999 –

Director, IS

Display Edge Technology

2730 Indian Ripple Road

Dayton, Ohio 45440

Design Projects

¨      ActiveX ESL Components for Microsoft Commerce Server 2000

¨      Windows/UNIX Sockets Bridge interface for RS485 Tag controller.

¨      Windows NT Service - Out-of-Stock indicator (ISPN) using TAPI 3.x

¨      B2B and B2C Electronic Commerce Applications for www.krogeronline.com

Project responsibility includes the design, and implementation of controls using Microsoft DCOM Technology.  These components seamlessly integrate into an existing Display Edge Technology Electronic Shelf Label application using MS Commerce Server 2000.  The controls are constructed both in Visual C++ and Visual BASIC.  Additional responsibility includes the development of a bridge that enables UNIX or Windows applications to communicate with the Electronic Shelf Label, Tag Area Controller.  The Bridge Interface uses BSD sockets to communicate, while the application uses Windows CASyncSocket classes.  The interface enables UNIX or Windows application programmers the ability to access and control the Tag Area Controllers.  The ISPN is a stand-alone Windows Service that accepts messages from the Tag Area Store Controller (TSC).  A typical message contains a control value, TAPI address and the message.  The message can be numerical, ASCII-numeric or audio.  The ISPN control value is used to validate and parse the messages before they are transmitted to a message recipient.

Applications are OpenShop, OpenGrocer, and OpenRetailer.  Research and Development for Intelligent Agent Based E-Commerce Architecture was undertaken in parallel with the OpenGrocer Internet application.  OpenShop was originally developed using Java and distributed on CD-ROM to Kroger customers as a “Test Market” release at two Huntsville grocery stores.  OpenShop was a stand-alone RAS application that required a custom browser.  The knowledge gained in design, construction and release of OpenShop was applied to the Internet Technologies in the successor product.  OpenGrocer is a natural progression to a web based E-Commerce solution for the grocery industry.  OpenGrocer is a two-tiered Active Server Pages and SQL Server 7.0 application that provides a generic website for the Grocery Industry.  Currently, Netran is creating an application that requires use of the Microsoft Windows 2000 DNA Architecture to support a scalable, secure E-Commerce environment for Global retailing.  I managed the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) of all E-Commerce Applications.  This includes: Project Management, Architecture, Budget, Staffing, Software Development, Quality Assurance and Product Release.

June 1997 – June 1999

Program Manager

FinTec, Inc.

4901 NW 17th way, Suite #501

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33309

Design Projects

¨      Global Billing Engine.

¨      Call Center - CTI

I managed the SDLC for two new products:  1. Global Billing Engine for Citigroup, a Client of FinTec.  2. The development of a CTI Application for resale to South American Banks. The software teams were located in Spain, Argentina, Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.  The Billing Engine is a multi-tiered Client Server application using Microsoft SQL6.5, Gradient DCE for the middle tier and Power Builder 5.0.  The Global Billing Engine integrates with existing Banking Applications developed for IBM mainframes and UNIX platforms.  The CORBA middleware connects with legacy mainframe applications.

The Call Center uses Dialogic Hardware, Visual C++ and Delphi.  Microsoft Project and Team Manager were used to monitor the day-to-day task scheduling.  Rational SQA Suite 6.1 and Internet Access via Track Record were used for Quality Assurance and Regressive Software Testing.

I was responsible for the analysis, design, planning/development, implementation and support of software systems and services.  Initiated and managed multiple small to medium projects that required mechanical, electrical, firmware and software engineers.  Negotiated contracts to design, develop, debug and release new products into the consumer and commercial marketplace.  I also provided technical support for pre and post sales launches.

September 1986 - October 1988

principal design engineer

philips - laser magnetic storage (Transfer from Knooxville)

colorado springs, colorado

I analyzed and created the software requirements to establish optimum hardware/software reliability and cost at completion of projects.  I was responsible for the planning and layout of new system installation or modification of the existing system software.  I utilized knowledge of electronic and software design principles and equipment to write real-time control software for CD-ROM drives.  I recruited, managed and trained new engineers for Philip’s CD-ROM Technology.

¨      Memory Resident (TSR) Audio Utility for CD-ROM Device Drivers.

¨      Designed Device Drivers to support new CD-ROM hardware.

¨      A Universal Device Driver to support the ISO9660 file server developed by Microsoft to support CDROM drives.  A key feature of the driver is the ability to easily support future generic adapters, as well as more conventional host adaptors.  Designed and Implemented the Programmers Reference manual and the Technical Service Manual for the finished product.

¨      Diagnostic Software for PC/CDROM hardware adapters and LASER Optical Drives

September 1981 - August 1986

Senior Project Engineer
