This is my '77 Telecaster. I bought it via ebay
from the original owner for $1,100.00 in 2003. He claims that only
the switch knob is not original. The S8xxxxx serial # was used from
around 1976-1978 for this model. The volume controls date to 1975
which is why I assume it's around 1977. The pickups are very strong
for stock. I had to wax-pot them to eliminate a feedback problem
under high gain situations. It worked perfectly. It involves
dipping them in melted paraffin at around 135-140 degrees until the bubbles
stop. After drying, the coils are sealed from any microphonic movement
eliminating the feedback.
