Martin Duffy RIP The Rory O'Moore School of Pipes and Drums is saddened by the terrible loss of Lead Drummer Martin Duffy. Martin and his daughter Hannah died January 13, 2004 of carbon monoxide poisoning at their home. Martin's wife Valerie and son John survived. Martin began teaching the band in 1999 and began playing with us as lead tip in 2002. The drum corps plays Martin's challenging scores and has improved immensely as the years progressed. Through his innovative ideas, the band has added a tri tenor into the mix, livening up our performances, and setting his scores apart. Martin will be missed by all that knew him. He was a member of several bands through the years in many grade levels. He instructed many bands as well and recently began teaching the FDNY Emerald Society Pipe Band. He was passionate in his desire to teach and to play the drums. Knowing Martin, he is now taking lessons from Alex Duthart once again. Martin, Hannah, Valerie, and John are in our hearts and in our prayers.
