| is "Scallywag." His "real" name is "Timber Winds Scalawag," but he is called "Wag." He is about 5 years old, weighs about 5 1/2 pounds, and is the best canine companion one could want (but then, isn't everybody's dog?). He is a Pomeranian, the first little dog I have owned. My previous companions were a fifty-pound mixed-breed dog and a 90-pound Rottweiler. When I tried to choose a name for my website, I had a hard time at first. My first name is common, so all of the names I could think of that included my first name were already in use. My last name is uncommon, and people very seldom spell it correctly; if I used that, no one would ever find my website! I thought of using my first dog's name somewhere in the name, but I had named her "Ubu," and, well, a major company is already using that. Finally I lit on the notion of using Wag's name. He doesn't mind (I can just tell by the way he looks at me). |

| I spelled it a little more phonetically so I wouldn't have to spend as much time explaining how to pronouce it, and here I am. | |||||||||||||
| Perhaps I should back up, and explain why I was trying to establish a website and a "business" name (beside the fact that everyone and his mom has one). Over the years, I have used the crafting that I enjoy as a way to create unique, personalized gifts for my family and friends. Last year it was knitted scarves, socks, and sweaters; the year before, personalized bookmarks in counted cross stitch. After I made a felted handbag for my sister's birthday, I kind of ran out of gift occasions, but still wanted to make things. A well-timed major craft show in my area gave me the idea of selling my crafts; lots of people do! I decided to start small with a few things on a website and maybe a small, local craft show. We'll see how it goes! | |||||||||||||
