Hi all!!! Well with the onslaught of Jo and Jack fics, here's one I wrote about a year ago. It was set after Jo has arrived, and it stands as my only ever Jo/Jack story. It's sort of a character analysis about Jo and about the beginning of the Jack-Jo romance. A line from heelers interested me initially into writing it, something about Tom telling Jo when she feels ready; she will have to explain everything about herself. It was loosely based on that, but not really :) If that makes any sense. I also have a major well hopefully major story in the works, so keep bugging me about it, otherwise I'll never get it done :)) ... Anyway, feedback would be wonderful ... so feel free to send some my way :)) Somebody To Love by Ky With an impish grin plastered across the paleness of her complexion, she studied the handsome figure before her with obvious curiosity. He resembled a guardian angel - pure innocence, a reflective of unadulterated kindness, a brave heart and basically a *very* decent man. Despite the smoldering heat he was radiating and complete oblivion to her complex psychological examination of him . she was exceedingly proud. Tremendously proud of her achievements . once undeniably lost, characterized as a hopeless case, never to succeed, she had finally resembled a human of decent integrity and knew what she wanted and how to achieve it. Besides the tempting presence whom had graced her life and enriched it, she had finally settled and resumed a, somewhat - orderly existence. Properly groomed in a royal-sharp uniform that attracted significant gazes of admiration and prestige, the once doomed heartbreaker of all past relationships had accustomed to the pure quaintness of the country environment. Peaceful, friendly and its local residents were exquisite, mainly because of their sharp contrast to the business of the city life. Not that she didn't miss the constant pace and activity of her former existence, but here - her new residence had taken on an entirely new meaning. It wasn't just a posting - or simply a choice of strategic career plotting or even a chance to escape from all the straining relationships she had unfortunately left behind, completely unresolved - it was solely her chance to blitz the disbelievers. Those who had tried and miserably failed to discriminate against her with ridiculous explanations and excuses . once, yes . she had been preposterously immature and acted solely on impulse but she had desperately attempted to overcome her irrationality in judgment. Sometimes, when she briefly glanced in the mirror and viewed the identical reflection, it was hard to believe that once . just once, she had . nope, she didn't have any sufficient time to resurface old, painful memories. Everything had, somehow changed. That aching reflection - an anguished reminder of someone who had missed countless opportunities and continued to mourn. But that was no longer - at least, she wouldn't allow herself. Here, nobody knew her . sure; they had retrieved the dreadful files of stupid and utterly useless mistakes but if anybody learnt the real reason behind what had truly occurred? Honestly, she had no substantial reasoning to confide. Passionate enthusiasm . that was what truly electrified her dampened spirits. If she ever felt - that familiar down spiraling, as her life drastically tore apart and she knew that there was no going back . no, she couldn't think of that anymore. Since her eventful intrusion into the crime-infested municipality, she had briefly settled into complete repose before being rudely interrupted and after being strictly trained in common pleasantries, had forced satisfying and surprisingly, even to herself, friendly conversation with the outline of the muscular body which she now watched with tempting desire. She smiled at the remembrance of the delightful memory that had richly enhanced and contributed to her ease to *fit* in with the closeness of her latest colleagues. Although she had considerably settled, since her previously wild days - she still become inexplicably frustrated when she was treated in such a lowly position. Instinctively, she had the brains to unravel the importance of any case and certainly, without any doubt, she possessed the bubbly enthusiasm, which was a valuable skill that could not be learnt from carefully studying the training manuals. Often deflated and discouraged that her keen suggestions were briefly listened to and carelessly tossed aside . for what? That arrogant detective with his ridiculous and oddly annoying talent of freely receiving taped confessions through his persuasive and accomplished techniques - what did he have to do to accomplish that? Surely, not just *smile. She fully understood his delightful charm and unusual humour, and had someone could find that combination of human qualities quite remarkable and magnificently attractive but still . she had heard all the rumours. He possessed a significant reputation and once the initial spark at his maturity and manly appeal had deteriorated, he infuriated her. Sometimes, he pretended not to listen - only hearing what seemed relevant to the current brief or if he needed her to complete an unfinished errand . but she calmly rationalized, he was an respectable bloke even if she disagreed and clashed on many occasions. At least, it wasn't boring. But her relationship with the unorthodox detective barely didn't fascinate or stunningly shock, compared to the supposed hidden romance that commenced into the smoldering hours of the evening . During her initial and customary tour around the cluttered office, she had accidentally discovered (or maybe not), a scrawled note that had been carefully placed in the desk drawer. Obviously, a former member of the same station, who had departed in unfortunate circumstances. Vaguely, she recalled reading an fateful incident that had disastrously occurred and left a promising officer pursuing a refreshing career path. Initially, barely able to comprehend the note, she eventually managed to translate the scribbled ramblings . It contained some very significant information that may be useful for the following weeks - "For whoever who may resume my position - be aware . there is a forbidden relationship occurring between the senior members." Obviously intrigued, she processed the necessary information and gave little thought to her discovery until she became aware of the tension that had considerably arisen within the station. The predicament unclear, their professional mannerisms jaded and uncertain . both bore stares of indescribable detest and animosity, indicative of their hostile emotions. She didn't care to interfere and wanted to escape involvement in any disruption in their personal relationship, because she honestly knew . it became extremely difficult to communicate and what eventuated from that . it was only a matter of time. She could only desperately hope that her colleagues would attempt to savour a lasting relationship because they obviously had a deeply meaningful bond . one she could only wish for. The love of her life. Maybe, only a wishful fantasy but after . she didn't know anymore. Yet she was strangely complacent in her latest surroundings. Somewhat, comfortable although in the deepest of her hearts - she still ached for the hectic activity of the bustling metropolis. And although she didn't yearn for the disastrous circumstances involving her swift departure - she missed the whole atmospheric scene of the endless adventure. It never ceased and that particular aspect of modern culture, she dearly missed. But after this one coincidental meeting with *him*, the younger gentlemen who graciously offered to assist with the initial difficulties of adjusting to a foreign lifestyle. Pure electricity sparkled, and at the warmth of the memory, she grinned cheekily. She wasn't a classic beauty; yet she attracted noticeable glances as she casually strolled the quiet streets but while she gained sensual attention from the male locals who had never noticed her before . but, in all honesty, she didn't care. She had *his* attention, and for now, that was all that truly mattered. Although he wasn't her typical material, and didn't slip into any particular category of men she had once dated, she was uncharacteristically drawn to his earthly charms. His gracious presence enriched and leveled the entire countenance of any situation . she cherished his nervous laugh that often resembled a childish giggle and his ability to cheer her up and improve her disheartened frame of mind by allowing her to feel validated and loved. Tainted by emotionally unsatisfying relationships, she basically wanted to experience true love. Despite their precious common interests, she was madly attracted to him . but was it all just based on the purely physical aspect of their relationship? Certainly, not from her perspective. Surely, mutual attraction was a common denominator in any romantic relationship but pure, animalistic passion didn't last forever . or did it? Based mainly on strength and trust, her beloved parents had bee deeply in love for many years. Why couldn't she find, what she was so desperately searching for? Lost in her rambling thoughts, she wasn't aware that is one swift moment . he sharply turned and recognized the intense gaze she was portraying through such innocent eyes. Earlier, he had painfully learnt . love wouldn't wait - it was cruel, destroying, heartbreaking if it was allowed to callously escape. Unexpectedly, she had waltzed into his unfazed life and her natural presence easily unnerved him . and he didn't even know how she felt. Her feminine signals propelled in diverse directions but he would take the chance and risk it all. Within the next second, together they travelled. And the latest recruits, Jo Parrish and Jack Lawson found what they both needed. Somebody to love. THE END Feedback :- persephone@graffiti.net
