Maggie awoke one late autumn morning in 2000 to feel her boyfriends arms wrapped tightly around her. After sleeping on her
left shoulder for most of the morning it was completely numb. She rolled over onto her back. P.J's arms adjusted their position
and he pulled her closer to him. This warmth was something neither of them had experienced with any past relationship. Slowly
P.J woke up to see Maggie, the love of his life tracing patterns with her index finger over his chest, looking straight into is now
open eyes.

"Good morning Maggs, how are we today?"

"Very well thank you. I'm lovely and warm and head over heals in love"

"Oh really and who might this person be?"

"Well you might know him. He's loving and caring. He's the most sexy guy I know and to top it all off, he's this brilliant crime
fighting detective at the Mt Thomas Police Station"

"Actually I think I do know him. He's quite a nice guy"

"That you're right about. I love you"

"I love you too Maggs"

The alarm went off and P.J rolled over to turn it off. He rolled back over and pulled Maggie close to him. She turned her body
to face him and kissed him. He kissed her back deeply. Both of them loved each other dearly. They knew they had to go to work
but pulling apart was the hardest part of the morning. They eventually got up and got dressed. Their relationship was still a
secret. They both found it surprising that no one knew. Well, that no one had mentioned anything. Perhaps some had ideas or
suspicions, but so concrete evidence. (Except one person who will for now, remain nameless)

Mt Thomas Police station

"Good morning Margaret. How are you today?" Nick asked most cheerfully.

"Very well thank you Nick. Any cases yet?"

"No not yet. Jack and Jo are out on patrol and Ben's at St Davids in court all day. Oh Detective you've also decided to grace us
with your presence today" Nick said as he spun around to see P.J arrived through the back entrance.

"Morning Nick, morning Maggs" He knew he'd already said hello to her that morning but it seemed plausible so to throw Nick off
their trail for the hundredth time.

"Morning" they both replied.

"Morning Doyle, P.J" Tom Croydon, their Boss said as he made his way out of his office to make himself a cup of tea.

"Morning Boss" They both replied simultaneously.

"Maggs can I see you for a second" P.J asked and walked into his office.

"Yep ok" Maggie put her bag and jacket down on her desk and walked into P.J's. She shut the door behind her, walked over and
sat on his desk.

"So, what can I do for you detective?" She asked raising an eyebrow

"Nothing, just wanted to say hi" He walked over in front of her and put his hands on her waist

"You've already said hello to me twice this morning"

" I know but that's not enough for me" he leant forward and kissed her softly. She put a hand on his cheek and kissed him back.

"Good morning Maggs" He said as he pulled away.

"Morning P.J" Maggie smiled and left his office.

The rest of the morning was entirely uneventful. Paperwork was high on the agenda for everyone so they all kept busy.

"Mails in" Jack called as he dumped a pile of envelopes on Maggie's desk and put the lunches on the filing cabinet. Everyone,
eager to get out of the paperwork jumped for their lunch. Tom picked up the pile of mail and carried it into his office along with
his sandwich. The rest of the troops sat around chatting while they ate their lunch.

"Doyle, Hasham, can I speak to you two for a minute" They looked at each other with a slightly worried look on their faces and
went into Tom's office.

"What can we do for you Boss?" P.J asked while moving closer to Maggie just in case it was about what he hoped it wouldn't be.

"I've just received a letter from the New South Wales Police force. As you both would know with the Olympics just around the
corner in September, the police numbers up there will be stretched to the limit. They've asked the other state forces around the
country to send members to be trained for approximately two weeks starting tomorrow. It's just incase more Police numbers are
required at any time during the games. The Victorian police force is sending 20 members from both the city and country.
Congratulations, you've both been selected to be part of the training exercises."

"Wow" Maggie said looking to P.J. "But you'll be down two members down for two weeks. How will you cope?" She asked
turning towards Tom.

"We'll manage. A uniform will probably be sent up from Melbourne to fill Maggie's role for the fortnight while Ben will take
over P.J's duties"

"So it won't be a problem if we go?" P.J asked sincerely.

"Not at all. Can I gather you both will be attending the training"

"Yes" the duo, said together.

"Good. Well you both can have the rest of the day off to pack. You'll have to arrange accommodation but I can help you with
that"

"How Boss" Maggie was listening intently. Two weeks in another state with P.J! Was this too good to be true?

"Well I have a holiday house up on the harbor - where you'll both be training. Nell and I used to go up on holidays pretty often
till she died. I haven't been up in over 5 years so it might be a bit dusty. There are two bedrooms, bathroom, living room, kitchen
etc. Just another house. You can both stay there if you want. Saves paying a fortune on motel rooms" Tom knew nothing of their
relationship. To him, he was helping out two colleagues but inadvertently helping a couple get to spend some "hassle free" time
away from their sticky beak friends.

"Gee thanks Boss. That'd be great wouldn't it Maggs" He said while gently nudging Maggie. She needed no persuasion. This was
the perfect opportunity to grab a holiday with P.J.

"Absolutely as long as you don't make me do all your washing P.J. Thank you Boss that would be fantastic"

"Well that's settled then. Oh there is one other thing I forgot to mention. Most of the courses go for the whole two weeks but
yours only goes for twelve days. After reviewing the rosters over the past two months I've decided to give you both the two
remaining days recreation leave. After your recent workload you both deserve it". Today just seemed to be getting better and
better for the couple. Tom handed P.J the spare key to the house that he had in his drawer.

"Thank you Boss" They both replied.

"Ok then. Go and sign off and we'll see you both in two weeks. I'll let everyone know what's going on"

Maggie and P.J nodded went and signed in their firearms and signed off. They grabbed their bags much to the amusement of
their colleagues and left without saying a word. The rest of the Heelers just turned to look at Tom. They knew he would explain
what was going on.

"Maggie and P.J have both been selected to undergo training in Sydney for the Olympics. They'll be away for two weeks and
will be staying at a holiday house I own so we'll be able to keep in contact. In the meantime a new constable will be coming up
from the city and Ben will act as CI." The rest of the guys nodded and went back to work.

Maggie got home and immediately started packing. Two weeks with P.J in Sydney, staying in a place with a view overlooking the
harbor and two days extra leave to do what they want! She grabbed her clothes, packed her toiletries and was about to pack her
uniforms when the phone rang.

"Hello"

"Maggie, it's Tom."

"Oh hi Boss, what's up?"

"Nothing. I was just ringing to tell you that you won't need to take your uniforms because you have CI qualifications. I decided
to let you be CI because I know you work exceptionally well with P.J and I think you should continue to work with someone who
you identify well with"

"Thank you Boss. I really appreciate it"

"That's ok Maggie. Well I better let you finish packing. Nick will be at your place at five to take you and P.J to the airport. Your
flight leaves at 7 and your tickets have been couriered down. Nick will give you them when he picks you up."

"Ok Boss thank you so much"

"That's fine Maggie. Bye"

"Bye" She hung up and smiled. This was just perfect. She finished packing and rang P.J. He'd just finished packing as well. She
spent about ten minutes talking to him before he decided to drive over to her house so they could be picked up together.

P.J arrived and immediately picked Maggie up in his arms and swung her around. Eventually he put her down with both of them
breathing heavily.

"This all seems to good to be true hey Maggs!"

"Its amazing. For once I get to sleep in the same house as you and not have to be afraid"

"And as for the two bedrooms Tom so conveniently made mention of?"

"I get scared of the dark and I need someone to protect me" Maggie's face was the look of a scared eight year old. P.J burst
out laughing, making Maggie do the same. P.J stopped and kissed her so softly she was almost uncertain as to whether it actually
happened or not.

"I love you P.J"

"I love you too" they relaxed into a deep kiss and lay down on the couch.

Eventually five o'clock rolled around and Nick picked them up. They drove to Tullumarine laughing most of the way, cracking up
at Nick's jokes. They got to the airport where Nick gave them their tickets.

"Ok you two, there will two detectives waiting for you in Sydney. A detective Goldstein and detective Christey. They'll give you
a car that you'll use while your there. Now don't do anything I wouldn't do P.J" Nick said and punched him in the arm.

"Ouch. Very funny Nick. I bet you wish you were going on this course!"

"No of course not" Nick replied

"But what about Dr Hamilton" Maggie asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Now that you mention it. Doyley give me your ticket, I'm going in your place" Nick made a quick grab for her ticket but Maggie
was too fast for him. He missed and put on a sulking expression. Maggie just laughed and walked over to get her boarding pass.
P.J just smiled at Nick and followed. Nick knew they were together but didn't say a word about it. He simply got back in the car
and returned to Mt Thomas.

P.J and Maggie boarded their flight and relaxed into the comfy seats. There was no one they knew on board and their tickets
hadn't specified that they were both Police Officers so they were free to act as a normal couple. They talked about the
prospects of the next two weeks, holding hands the entire way. They were the only two coppers going from the region so they'd
not know anyone who they were training with or if there was anyone else.

They arrived in Sydney at 8:30 and quickly grabbed their luggage. They looked around for anyone that was looking for anyone
else. They saw two people - a male and female holding a sign that read 'Detectives Doyle and Hasham'. Maggie and P.J just
smiled to each other and walked over to the sign holders.

"Detectives Christey and Goldstein?" Maggie asked

"Detectives Hasham and Doyle?" The woman asked. She was fairly tall and had shoulder length brown hair.

"Hi. I'm Maggie Doyle and this is P.J Hasham" Maggie introduced her and P.J to the pair.

"Hi I'm Rachel Goldstein and this is Jack Christey. We'll be working with you while you're up here"

Maggie shook Rachel's extended hand and then shook Jack's. P.J did the same.

"Right well we'll show you the car you'll be using while you're here. By the way, we're from the Sydney Water Police."

"Yes our Senior Sergeant told us. Nice to meet you both" P.J said while picking up his bag. He went to grab Maggie's but she
picked it up and started to speak to Rachel. They started to walk off leaving Jack and P.J standing in the airport foyer.

"Well I guess we should follow them" Jack announced and he and P.J caught up to the girls. Maggie and P.J fixed up the
paperwork for the car and gave Rachel the address and phone number of where they were staying. They said their good byes
and were told to be at the Water Police Head Quarters at 8am on the dot the next morning.

They drove to the house in silence. They found it fairly easily. P.J opened the door and turned on the light. After a brief
self-tour they dumped their bags in the bedroom and unpacked.

"Hey P.J are you hungry?"

"Yeah I am. Do you want me to go out and get take away?"

"Would you please?"

"Anything for you Maggie. Anything in particular?"

"Chinese"

"Chinese it is. We passed a Chinese take away on the way here so I'll try there ok" He picked up his wallet and keys before
kissing Maggie and leaving.

She looked around and sighed. The place could do with a tidy up. She grabbed the duster and went to work. In ten minutes the
place was spotless. It hadn't required much but the removal of five years worth of dust had made it look heaps cleaner. The bed
already had new sheets on it and the TV worked. By the time P.J returned she's finished unpacking her stuff and was resting
quietly on the couch.

P.J unlocked the door. He'd been slightly longer because there was a jewelry store next to the take away shop. They had an
engagement ring that P.J knew Maggie would love. They'd been together since '97 and both knew in their hearts they'd never
want to be with anyone else. They were perfect for each other, it was obvious. P.J knew Maggie was his soul mate and wanted to
marry her. He'd bought the ring but decided not to do anything about it yet.

"Maggie I'm back"

"Took your time"

"Ah yeah, they took a while to cook it" P.J was still telling the truth. They had taken a while and P.J had been next door in the
Jewelers waiting.

"Ok, well I'm starving. There's plates and cutlery in the kitchen." Maggie got up off the couch and served the food. She and P.J
sat at the table and ate. Afterwards P.J collected the plates and did the washing up while Maggie wiped. Once they finished P.J
pinned Maggie against the sink. She made no objections and draped her arms around his neck.

"I can't believe the Boss is letting us stay here together" P.J leaned closer to Maggie until his forehead was touching hers.

"He thinks we're friends and colleagues and that's the end of it. I love it though. Come to think of it, I love you too"

P.J just smiled and kissed her tenderly on the lips. Maggie deepened the kiss and put her hand on P.J's cheek. He held her close
and caressed her body with his hands. Slowly he pulled back and picked her up, carrying her to the bedroom. He lay her gently
down on the bed before lying beside her and holding her close again. Maggie responded by kissing him and undoing his shirt. He
kissed her lips, cheek, temple neck and down to the opening of her shirt. He pulled her shirt over her head and began kissing
down her chest and stomach, then back up to her mouth. The air was filled with passion and electricity, pure love and lust.
Maggie pulled off his shirt and covered the skin on his chest with hot wet kisses. Her skin flushed. <Will he ever know what he
does to me? >.

He undid her bra and let it slide off her shoulders. Never moving his gaze from her eyes, he put his hand on her breast. P.J
could feel the blood pumping through his veins. He pulled her close to him and kissed her lips. Maggie responded by undoing the
buckle and zip on his jeans. She slid them off his legs as he undid her trousers. As they joined the pile of clothes, P.J pulled the
covers over them.

The next morning P.J was the first to wake up. He smiled, as he looked at Maggie, asleep in his arms. <God she's beautiful>. The
sun was just reaching over the clouds when Maggie's eyes fluttered open. Yet again she felt safe in P.J's strong arms. The alarm
went off at 7 and Maggie jumped in the shower. She was enjoying the feel of the hot water dripping off her when the curtain
slowly drew open behind her. Maggie knew it was P.J but she didn't move. He jumped in behind her and pulled her close.

Breakfast was simply left over Chinese. It wasn't that great but would have to do until they went shopping. Eventually they found
the Water Police Station on the map and got there just on time. They walked through the door and were greeted by a cheerful
young constable.

"Good morning. You must be Detective Doyle and Detective Hasham from Victoria". They nodded

"Yeah. I'm Maggie Doyle and this is P.J Hasham" They shook the young girls hand. Her badge read Constable Johnson.

"Hi I'm Tayler Johnson. Welcome to the Sydney Water Police. Detective Goldstein and Detective Christey are just upstairs. Here
are your training kits and I'll just take you through". She handed Maggie and P.J folders and took them upstairs to Rachel and
Jack's office.

"Detectives, Maggie Doyle and P.J Hasham." Tayler smiled at the four of them and left. Rachel and Jack turned round and got
up.

"Hi guys, welcome. You two are the only ones training with Jack and I so we'll get a great opportunity to show you around the
Sydney Harbor. I'll just introduce you to our Chief Inspector. His name is Jeff Hawker. Pretty nice guy if you don't get in his
bad books" Maggie and P.J smiled and followed Rachel into Jeff Hawkers office. After a twenty-minute briefing, Maggie,
Rachel, P.J and Jack emerged from his office and went down to the boats. Everyone minus Hawker was out there enjoying the
sunshine for a quick break.

"Ok, everyone listen up" All the police officers turned to look at Rachel. "Ok. As you all know over the next two weeks we will
be training police officers from around the country incase they are required during the Olympics. I'd like to introduce Detective
Maggie Doyle and Detective P.J Hasham. They're from Mt Thomas in Victoria. Can you please make them both welcome and help
Jack and I to show them around Sydney."

Everyone got up and introduced themselves. There were Constables Tavita, Sykes and Johnson (whom they'd already met) and
Sergeant Blakemore. They were all very friendly and with the first day basically being briefings and paperwork, they needed
the help.

Maggie and P.J knocked off at 3. They immediately found a supermarket and stocked up on food.

"So what did you think P.J?"

"About what?"

"The Water Police"

"Nice enough bunch. That Rachel's a pretty strong character"

"So are Jack and Jeff. The rest are pretty quiet"

"Yeah. Today was pretty full on. Considering we didn't get too much sleep last night I'm exhausted" P.J turned to Maggie and
gave he one of his special smiles. She just smiled back and continued to drive. After putting all the groceries away they decided
to go for a walk around town.

"Look at the sunset Peej" Maggie said as she and P.J sat on the grass staring at the sky.

"It's beautiful, but not as beautiful as you," He said pulling her closer. Maggie turned in his embrace and kissed him softly on
the lips.

* * *

"So Rachel, what do you think of Maggie and P.J?" Jack asked as they sat on her couch in each other's arms. No one knew about
their relationship either.

"They're both really nice people. Hard working. I guess they work together in Mt Thomas. They're a great pair to have from
what I can see"

"You know what I reckon"

"What Jack. Is this just another of your weird observations?"

"Well I reckon they're seeing each other"

"Huh?"

"Think about it. They're staying in the same house. Get along really well and are always standing fairly far away from each
other"

"Point being?" Rachel turned around to face him "we don't stand very close to each other eith…" she caught on to his meaning
and nodded. Jack nodded back.

"Perhaps Jack" Rachel snuggled back into his chest and fell asleep.

* *

"Morning Tayler" P.J said as he and Maggie walked into the station the next morning.

"Morning guys" She replied cheerfully. Even after only knowing them both one day, she too had reservations as to whether they
were an item or not. She was seeing Gavin Sykes but no one knew about it. Relationships between colleagues were frowned upon
in the NSW force. They were probably the same about it in Victoria. <Come to think about it, they'd make a pretty good couple>
she thought as she finished her paperwork.

"Morning Jack. Morning Rachel" Maggie said as she dropped her bag on her temporary desk in the conference room. P.J
followed suit.

"Morning you two. Today we're going out to show you around the harbor" Jack announced as he picked up a file and handed it
to Rachel. She flicked through it and put it on her desk.

"Right let's go" She said and walked towards the door. Maggie and P.J followed them and hopped on the boat.

As Tommy Tavita drove the Nemesis out into the harbor, Maggie and P.J relaxed and lent back on the sides of the boat. Jack
and Rachel watched with interest as the pair basically stared at each other from opposite sides of the vessel.

"So where are we going?" Maggie asked with interest. This was her first trip to Sydney in three years, a lot had changed in that
time and she was pretty enthralled in her surroundings.

"We're taking you two on a scenic 'get to know the place' trip around the harbor" Rachel moved and sat next to Maggie. Jack
moved and sat next to P.J. They had a plan in store for the duo. They started to talk to them about relationships and watched to
see if, at anytime during the conversation, did they look at each other.

"So Maggie, what are the guys like down in sleepy Mt Thomas?" Maggie instantly knew what they were doing and made a signal
with her fingers that told P.J not to look at her.

"Oh, there are some great guys down there, there are also some shockers. Can't expect too much from little old Mt Thomas
though can you?"

"No I guess not. What about you? Anyone special in your life?"

"Ah yeah there is, but you don't want to know about him do you?"

"You bet I do? What's he like?"

"He's, he's, um, he's lovely"

"Good looking I bet" Rachel was desperately trying to get Maggie to look at P.J

"Yeah he is"

"So this 'mystery man', he's back in Mt Thomas?"

"No he's interstate on a conference. I can't contact him unfortunately"

Meanwhile on the other side of the boat…

"So P.J, how's life treating you?"

"Not too bad Jack"

"Great, how's the love life? Any decent girls back in Victoria?"

"Love life? It's ok I guess"

"And the lucky girl is?"

"Ah, she's gorgeous. Lovely as always. Enjoying life. She's busy back in Mt Thomas though."

"What a shame. She sounds like a nice girl"

"Yeah she is"

Jack and Rachel looked at each other for help. How were they going to finish the conversation? Luckily for them, a crime
stopped them as Tommy yelled to the four detectives and pointed to a harbor-side restaurant. It was being held up as they spoke.
Tommy immediately turned on the siren and radioed in to Sergeant Helen Blakemore. Maggie, P.J, Jack and Rachel drew their
guns and moved to the side of the boat. As the Nemesis stopped at the dock, all four detectives jumped out and ran towards the
restaurant. Maggie and P.J took the front entrance while Jack and Rachel took the back. The lone gunman was about to take the
wallet of an elderly gentleman when he saw the four coppers converging on him.

"Police don't move" Maggie shouted as she pointed the gun at the offender. P.J did the same and Rachel and Jack came running
through the kitchen demanding that he put the weapon down. The guy didn't know what to do. He dropped his gun and got down
on his knees like P.J told him. Maggie cuffed him and Jack pulled him off the ground. They got back on the boat and went back
to base.

* * *

"Well done Maggie and P.J. You both handled the situation exceptionally well. I can see why you were selected for the program.
Congratulations" Jeff Hawker said to the pair who stood in front of him.

"Thank you Sir" they said together. Jeff smiled, <so polite and by the book> he thought.

"Look you two, please call me Jeff. Everyone else does, well Rachel and Jack do so you do the same ok"

"Yes Sir, um Jeff" Maggie corrected herself and smiled. P.J nodded in agreement and they left his office.

* * *

After Maggie and Jack interviewed the offender the four detectives continued their adventure round the harbor. Rachel
pointed out certain places to them and showed them were they would be patrolling if they were required during the Olympics.

After a rather tiring day, Maggie and P.J flopped on the bed as soon as they got home. Totally exhausted, Maggie rolled over
into P.J's arms and felt his encircle her.

"They think they know. They're pretty smart" P.J said as he pulled Maggie closer to him.

"Hmm. It was a pretty clever trick though. Gotta give them credit for it"

"Yeah I guess. Gotta give you credit for seeing right through it though. If you hadn't given me those signals I would've looked at
you for sure.

"Really? What did Jack ask you?" Maggie sat up and looked at him. She perched up against the pillows and pulled her shoes off.

"He asked me how I was. How my love life was, who I was seeing, what this girl was like, if I liked her (though he made the last
one up)."

"Uhuh. What did you say?"

"Hmmm, I said that I was fine, my love life was great, I was seeing this lovely girl who was busy at home in Mt Thomas and that
I love her with all my heart" He smirked as her face became one big grin. She kissed him softly. "What did Rachel ask you?"

"Basically the same questions. There is this really special guy in my life. He's extremely good looking, caring and loving but he's
interstate on a conference and I can't talk to him"

"Gee you're a smart woman Maggs"

"Thank you. Your answers were pretty ingenious as well"

"Thank you my dear" He lent in and kissed her deeply. Just as the passion from the other night was coming back the phone began
to ring. Maggie pulled away and frowned before jumping up and answered the phone.

"Hello"

"Maggie it's Nick from the land of the lost"

"Hi Nick how are you?"

"Not too bad. How's the training going? Not too intense I hope. P.J might collapse!"

"Nah P.J's fine. The training's very good. Not too intense but we're kept busy. Are you guys managing without us" P.J was
listening intently to the conversation Maggie was having with Nick. He got up and walked over to Maggie, wrapping his arms
around her waist from behind.

"Us? We're having a fantastic time without you. Party's every night you know. Tom wants to have a yarn"

"Ok put him on"

"Hi Maggie it's Tom"

"Hi Boss how are things?"

"Great they're great. Nothing major happening. What about you and P.J? How is the house holding up?"

"Oh the house is perfect. Thanks so much for letting us use it. P.J's fine. Jack and Rachel are keeping him in line"

"Great. Well we'll probably be in touch in another couple of days. "

"Ok Boss. Say hi to everyone for us"

"Will do. Talk to you soon. Bye"

"Bye" Maggie hung up and turned to face P.J

"So Maggs, what was that?"

"That was two lonely Victorian coppers checking up on two friends" Maggie raider her arms and draped them over P.J's
shoulders.

"Hmm. I'm tired" P.J covered his mouth as he yawned

"It's only 7pm P.J. What's on TV tonight?"

"Um, lets see. Its Tuesday, All Saints is on at 8:30. I haven't seen that in a couple of weeks"

"Neither have I. It's a pretty good show. Wonder what we've missed?"

"I have no idea. I've been otherwise engaged most Tuesday nights lately" P.J pulled Maggie closer and raised an eyebrow.

"Hmm well until then, what do you want to do?"

"Rest on the couch with you?"

"Sorry P.J, but I've got to do the washing." Maggie unraveled herself from his embrace and went into the laundry. P.J frowned
and followed.

"Why now it's late?"

"Because we'll need the clean clothes. I might as well do it now while I think of it. If we go to work wearing the same clothes we
did the previous day you know what Jack and Rachel will say!" Maggie said while she tossed P.J's shirts in the washing machine.

"Smart thinking Maggs. Do you want some help?" P.J started chucked Maggie's trousers in with his shirts

"Yeah ok, it'll get done quicker"

The pair finished the washing and ironing in record time and sat down on the couch. They watched All Saints and laughed their
heads off at Conner and the rest of the gang but held each other close when a young baby girl died in Mitch's arms. After it
finished they went to bed.

Over the next week, Maggie and P.J underwent some intense training and long briefings (despite the fact that briefings were
supposed to be brief as P.J had said). Rachel was very impressed with her temporary colleagues' initiative and ability. They
were hard working and intelligent. She was also quite impressed with their ability to deny that they were a couple. She and Jack
had tried desperately to catch them out without success. Rachel was amazed that the harbor was so quiet. On an ordinary day
that would be rather busy but since the Victorian duo had arrives, things had been rather boring. Simple patrols and paperwork
took up most of the day each day but they managed to get out on the Nemesis a couple of times for a visit to the rowing venue.
Maggie and P.J got a good look at the place they would be working at.

Each evening they spent relaxing in each other's arms and going for walks around town. It was a pretty quiet neighborhood and
they weren't disturbed.

The major drama's started to unfold the next Tuesday when…

* * *

"Morning you two" Tayler called from within the stationary cupboard.

"Hey Tayler, how did you know it was us?" P.J asked while putting his head in the cupboard as well

"Wild guess. You two always arrive together which is understandable because you're staying together but you're the only two
who usually come together so when I hear two sets of footsteps I automatically know it's you" Tayler finally found the blue
stickers she had been looking for and hopped out of the cupboard. She was pretty impressed with her ability to guess who it
was. P.J was pretty amused.

"Well done Tayler, keep up the good work" P.J walked up the stairs with Maggie and smiled at her. She smiled back at him.

"Hi Rachel, hi Jack" Maggie called as she dumped her heavy bag on her desk

"Morning Maggie, morning P.J. Say, what are you guys doing for dinner tonight?" Rachel asked as she put a file back in the
cabinet

"Nothing special why?" P.J asked, this could be trouble.

"Feel like any company? Jack and I thought we might come over and say hi" Rachel looked for any discomfort on either of their
faces. She found a little in P.J's eyes but Maggie was as coo, as a cucumber

"Yeah, do you guys want to come over for dinner?" Maggie nudged P.J slightly with her elbow. He quickly understood her and
nodded in agreement

"Sure say about 7:30"

"Great" Maggie smiled and returned to her office, continuing the mountains of paperwork she had yet to finish. During the day
they apprehended three graffiti artists, an armed robber and a drug dealer. Hawker and Blakemore praised all four detectives
for their efforts.

"Hey Maggie, could I have a word with you for a second" Helen asked as Maggie walked past her office.

"Sure" Maggie shut the door behind her and sat in front of Helen

"I was wondering what you thought about office relationships?" Maggie stiffened in her seat and looked Helen straight in the
eye

"Um, what do you mean - between colleagues"

"Yeah. I was also wondering if you thought Rachel and Jack were involved?" Maggie relaxed slightly and thought intently.

"Um I'm not sure, they're coming over for dinner tonight so I could do a bit of detective work for you"

"I'd love that thanks. Um, you didn't answer my first question though Maggie" Maggie went cold again, how the hell was she going
to answer this?

"Um, well our Boss doesn't approve of office relationships. He thinks they would affect the work ethic and the persons' work
professionally in the station. I don't know what I think about them. I guess as long as the two were discrete and kept it outside
work hours it'd be ok" Helen was thinking seriously about Maggie's explanation

"Hmm, thanks Maggie"

"Anytime Helen" Maggie got up and left. She shut the door as she left and made her way back to her office where P.J was busy
doing paperwork. She closed the door and flopped in front of him. He looked up and smiled but he didn't get one back.

"What's the matter Maggs?" Her face was stone cold. Suddenly she snapped back into reality

"Sorry P.J"

"Are you ok?"

"Um yeah, look our shifts over, do you want to head home?" Maggie asked, already putting on her jacket

"Yeah ok" P.J picked up his folder. They both signed off and drove home

Maggie arrived home, exhausted for the hundredth time since arriving in Sydney. P.J too was very tired. Maggie sat down on the
couch, P.J was just about to join her when she sprung up and ran into the bedroom

"Maggs, are you alright" P.J was pretty concerned, Maggie had been distant all afternoon

"Yeah I'm fine but we won't be if Rachel and Jack only see that one bedroom is being used" P.J caught on to her meaning and
moved his stuff into the other bedroom. He ruffled up the sheets to make them look lived in and hung up some of his clothes in
the wardrobe. He finished and went back into the living room. Maggie was sitting at the table reading the paper.

"Good thinking Maggs"

"Well we don't want to get found out do we. Besides I've got a bit of detective work to do myself"

"Huh?"

"Helen wants me, well us to find out if Rachel and Jack are together"

"Do you think they are?" P.J sat down beside her. The phone rang "Hmm, hold that thought" he said and jumped up to answer the
phone.

"Hello"

"P.J, it's Jo how are you?"

"Not too bad what about you?"

"Great, say is Maggie there?"

"Yep just a sec" "Hey Maggs, Jo wants a word" Maggie nodded and reached for the phone

"Hey Jo what's up?"

"Hiya Maggie. I'm great how are you?"

"Great"

"Yeah um I've got a question to ask"

"Fire away"

"It's Jack. I think he likes me. He kinda asked me out today"

"Ooh did he now. What did you say?"

"I haven't answered him yet. What should I say?"

"Why don't you like him?"

"Yes I do. I like him a lot it's just that the Boss doesn't like office relationships as you know"

"Jo don't let Police ethics stand in the way of a happy and prosperous relationship. Just follow your heart and see what happens"

"Speaking from experience are we Maggie?" Jo asked with a smirk on her face. She was the only one who knew for sure that
Maggie and P.J were together, due to some important information Maggie had given her.

"Yeah Jo I think I am. Was that all?"

"No I was wondering if you'd said anything yet"

"About what?"

"You know. Gee Maggie, this is a life changing thing and you still haven't told P.J" Maggie suddenly remembered what Jo was
talking about. She was right. It'd been 5 weeks and she still hadn't gotten up the courage to tell P.J. How would he react? He'd
always been fantastic with kids, but kid of his own, was it too soon?

"Um no I haven't Jo but I will soon. I'll follow that up thanks for reminding me I promise I'll get everyone something"

"Oh Maggie is P.J still in the room"

"Uhuh"

"Ok well I better go. When are you guys coming back?

"We'll be back Saturday at midday. Just make sure someone's there to pick us up!"

"Sure Maggie see ya later"

"Bye" Maggie hung up the phone and turned to P.J. <How on earth will I tell him. What's he going to say? No not yet, when the
time is right>.

Maggie spent the evening cooking dinner. She'd found one of Nell's old recipe books and had made a meal from one of them.

Rachel and Jack arrived together at 7:30 on the dot bearing wine. Jack went and sat on the couch with P.J, who had just
finished setting the table. They talked shop while Rachel helped Maggie in the kitchen.

"So Maggie, is P.J one of these guys who expects the women to do all the cooking etc is he?"

"No in fact he's pretty handy around the kitchen, not a bad cook in fact. He was helping me but I told him to go and annoy Jack"

"Poor P.J" They both laughed "So P.J's cooked for you before hey?" Maggie could see the path she was walking

"Yeah he has. Well the entire station, we had a Christmas party at his house last year. You'll have to try his Lebanese lasagna one
day" Maggie picked up the dish and put it on the table.

"Sounds delicious"

"It is as long as you have a jug of water on the table. Right guys hope you're hungry" Maggie called P.J and Jack from the dining
room. They hopped off the couch and went into the dining room

"Wow that smells great Maggie" Jack said as he sat next to Rachel. Maggie arched an eyebrow at P.J and he did the same back.
Luckily for them, neither Rachel or Jack saw their exchange.

The evening went off without a hitch. They ate, drank and joked. To P.J's surprise, Maggie didn't touch a drop of wine. <Weird,
Maggie doesn't mind a drink of wine, what's going on. Oh I know, she's staying sober to correct me if I get drunk and say
something. God she's smart>. Rachel only had a glass because she was their 'designated driver' <Hmm interesting, they came
together, Could be innocent? Perhaps> Maggie thought.

Eventually, about 11pm, Rachel and Jack left. Maggie sat on the couch and breathed a sigh of relief. It'd gone off without a
hitch. P.J hadn't ended up too drunk and was off having a shower. She thought Rachel and Jack might be together but wasn't
sure. She's need more evidence.

P.J stood in the shower letting the hot water run down his body. Maggie had been acting pretty weird after Jo's phone call and
he wondered what it was all about. He trusted Maggie with all his heart and decided to let her tell him if she had to, and in her
good time.

After washing up and tidying the living room, Maggie went to bed. She'd had her shower earlier and was totally exhausted. All
the 'late nights' she and P.J had been having were really draining her energy level. P.J had removed all his stuff from the spare
bedroom, not keen to spend another minute away from Maggie. He opened the bathroom door to find the house pitch black. He
tried to find his way around in the dark and almost succeeded. He ran into the chest of drawers and got his boxer shorts caught
around the edge. After untangling himself he hopped into bed beside Maggie and wrapped his arms around her. She snuggled
into his embrace and lay her head on his chest. P.J instantly fell asleep.

Maggie awoke him early in the morning. She was moaning and tossing, like you would if you were having a bad dream. P.J kissed
her cheek and whispered "It's ok. Shhh. It's only a dream. I'm here it's ok. You're safe". She slowly began to settle back into
sleep when, while still fully asleep she blurted out the information she'd not wanted to, and even dreaded telling him.

"P.J, I'm pregnant" and though he was only half awake when he was settling her down, he was now fully awake. His eyes flung
open but he didn't move. <Is this real or is she still dreaming? I hope it's real>. P.J thought. He loved kids and wanted his own one
day but he wondered if Maggie thought the same. She was great with kids and would make fantastic mum one day but did she
want to be a mum? He gently ran his hand over her stomach and fell asleep, dreaming of Maggie (as always).

P.J woke up the next morning to find Maggie asleep beside him, her hand on his cheek and his hand still on her stomach. Again he
ran it over the smooth skin and to be honest, it did look 'rounder'. Maybe what she's said last night was true? She looked so
content and he knew she was exhausted last night so he let her sleep while he made breakfast. Eventually he had to wake her up
and he hated himself for having to do it.

He stroked her face gently and kissed her. Slowly she woke up and draped her arms around his neck.

"Hump, do I have to get up?" She queried. It was her first full nights sleeping a while and even then it wasn't a comfortable one.
She'd dreamt that she'd told P.J and he wouldn't have anything to do with her, leaving her alone and stranded with only Jo for
support.

"Yes you do. I've already made breakfast. I'll give you a hand up ok" he said and pulled her up gently.

"What time is it?" She asked while sticking her head in the wardrobe to grab her suit

"Half past seven. We've gotta leave soon" He walked over and planted a kiss on the back of her neck. He would have appreciated
the day off as well. He hadn't gotten off to sleep too well after Maggie had blurted out that piece of information in her sleep.
Was she or wasn't she? He didn't want to force the issue.

They arrived at the station just on time, looking reasonable. The same couldn't be said for Jack. Rachel looked ok but Jack
seemed to have a bit of a hangover and Hawker was not impressed. He was confined to paperwork all day unless there was a
major situation. The entire station was briefed on the possibility of drug imports. They were told about the history of the case
and how dangerous the drug ring leaders were - they'd already killed five men and wounded 4 others including a police officer
up in Port Maquarie. Everyone was on alert and patrols were done every hour. Maggie and P.J read through the case file and
talked over the possibilities with Rachel, Jeff and Helen. All three were very impressed with their ideas and decided to
implement them in their investigation. Jack ended up going home about 11 am because he just couldn't stay awake. That left the
three remaining detectives to go out on the Nemesis to the old steel docks that had been closed for over five years.

"So Rachel how are you feeling today?" Maggie asked. Rachel had sunglasses on and didn't look to great out in the light.

"Hmm, I've got a bit of a sore head actually" Rachel replied while rubbing her temples.

"But didn't you only have a couple at our place?" P.J asked. This was very interesting. He looked at Maggie for support. She just
nodded

"And come to think of it, Jack didn't have that many at our place either. A couple, enough to be a little drunk but not enough to
justify the hangover he's got today" Rachel just looked Maggie dead in the eye from behind her sunglasses. All of a sudden she
went bright red. Maggie and P.J smiled at each other and then looked back at Rachel.

"Proud of yourselves are you?" She said grumpily <Shit they know. Jack and I have managed to keep this a secret for over a year
now and all of a sudden two Victorian's come up and within two weeks, they've found us out. Ok now for my fun>

"Yeah I think we are" P.J looked at Maggie again. She just smiled and shook his outstretched hand.

"Well done for finding out. But believe me I've done a bit of detecting myself and…" she was unable to finish her sentence as
Maggie pointed out some action on the old wharf. Tommy docked the boat and the three detectives ran up the ramp. They hid
behind the pylon long enough to see the two assailants exchanging drugs, money and passports. This was the small end of the
huge drug operation that was operating in Sydney. Maggie, P.J and Rachel looked at each other and moved from behind the
poles.

"POLICE! Put your hands where we can see them" Maggie shouted at the top of her lungs.

"Put the weapons down and turn around" P.J added. The two men just stood there looking at the cops

"I said turn around NOW!" Rachel yelled. Suddenly one of the men pulled a .33 automatic from his bag and began shooting
randomly while the other man made a run for it, getting away with two kilos of ground heroin. Maggie, P.J and Rachel dove for
cover behind a huge cement wall. Maggie pulled out her radio and called for immediate backup. Meanwhile the gunman continued
his rampage, shooting anything and everything. Suddenly he stopped and yelled

"I'll trade you, the money and gun for the blonde one"

"No deals Dresner" Rachel called. She knew the guy who they were dealing with

"Well then I jut can't let you all live then can I?" Maggie took his last sentence in. There was no way that she would put P.J in
danger, Rachel too for that matter.

"I'll go," she said. A look of horror spread over P.J and Rachel's faces.

"No Maggs you can't do it"

"Yeah I can. Look backup will be here any minute and I'll be fine. Now hold this and don't move" She looked at P.J adoringly and
handed him her gun. She knew what a huge risk she was taking but it didn't matter. "Dresner I'm coming out and I'm unarmed"

"You the blonde one?"

"Yeah I am"

"What's your name?"

"Maggie"

"OK Maggie walk out here and I'll toss the money and the gun into the water" Maggie walked out to face him. He smiled <right.
She's very pretty for a copper>. He chucked the gun and the bag of money over the side. The bad floated on the surface but the
gun sank to the bottom. He walked over to Maggie and grabbed her round the waist. He pulled a handgun from his sock and held
it to her head. "What are the other coppers names?" she didn't answer. Dresner got angry and pulled the safety cap off the gun
it clicked "Now what are their names?"

"Garry and Kelly"

"Don't lie to me what are their real names" his grip moved from around her waist to around her neck

"Rachel and P.J"

* * *

Meanwhile Tommy had radioed again for backup after seeing the gun and money fall into the water and Dresner scream and take
Maggie hostage. He kept Tayler informed while Hawker, Sykes, Blakemore and Christey (who had recovered from his almighty
hang over) made there way out to the wharf on the other patrol boat. With every bit of information Tommy gave him, Jeff
became more and more worried for Maggie's safety.

"She'll be alright Jeff. So will P.J and Rachel. Maggie's a damn good copper and she knows how to handle these situations"
Helen could see he was worried. Apart from the fact that he liked all three detectives, he would have to be the ones to inform
the relatives if anything was to go wrong.

* * *

"Come on Dresner, the deal was you'd throw your weapons over the side hey. You didn't meet your end of the bargain."

"Shut up!"

Maggie shook her head "Hey I reckon we'd make a great partnership hey. What do you say- lets get out of here?" Dresner
nodded and backed towards the gate. As he moved over near the edge of the wharf Maggie knocked the gun out of his hands and
threw it into the harbor. Dresner regained his balance and slapped Maggie

"You bitch!" He said. He grabbed her and pulled her upright while P.J and Rachel moved from behind the wall

"Let her go Dresner" P.J yelled at the top of his lungs

"Or what? You'll shoot me? You don't want me to hurt your girlfriend now do you? Now put your guns gown or I'll throw her over
the edge"

"I can swim. You think that's going to work?" Maggie replied. His arm tightened around her neck, making it more difficult to
breathe.

"Not if you're unconscious" Dresner smirked but didn't see Helen and Gavin approach him from behind.

"Dresner let her go" Gavin said quietly from behind him <Shit I'm done for> he thought. Slowly he let Maggie go and pushed her
towards P.J and Rachel, into P.J's arms. He grabbed her and held her tight. He let go and helped Gavin and Helen escort Dresner
down to the boat. Rachel gave Maggie a hug and they went down the ramp and onto the Nemesis.

* * *

"I guess I should say I job well done because you've apprehended a main man in the drug ring. But I will say that I'm not too
pleased with the way you went about it." Hawker looked at the three detectives in front of him. Dresner had been charged with
numerous drug and assault charges, including attempted murder of a police officer." Rachel you can go but I want to speak with
Maggie and P.J thank you" Rachel nodded and left Jeff's office she waked out into the waiting arms of Jack. He'd been so
worried about her.

"Right now I don't know how you lot do things like this down in Victoria but up here we don't give police officers up as hostages.
This was a very difficult and dangerous case. By doing this Doyle, you could have been and would have most likely been killed if
not for P.J's actions and the actions of others do you realize that?"

"Yes Sir I do but I knew what I was doing"

"Are you sure"

"Yes I am. Dresner wouldn't have killed me he doesn't have the guts to"

"I have to disagree"

"He doesn't have the temperament. He was scared witless and was shaking. The next thing he was about to do was break down"

"I don't care Maggie you put your life on the line when it wasn't necessary. Things could've been sorted out another and safer
way. Just think if you'd been killed. How all of us here would react - your friends and family an Mt Thomas and your partner
P.J. You two are the best working duo I've seen in a long time and it would be devastating for us to lose you. Think about it next
time you decide to walk towards someone unarmed who has one ok"

"Yes Sir"

"Right I want you to be checked out by a doctor now. I'll get Rachel to take you down to the hospital. P.J you can give me your
statement now thanks"

Maggie left with Rachel for the hospital while Jeff asked P.J his side of the story. Maggie was given the all clear and she and
Rachel had just stopped outside the station when Rachel grabbed her arm.

"Jeff was right you know. You could have gotten killed today"

"But if I hadn't have gone out he could've continued his rampage and killed all three of us. Think about how Jack would've felt
then. At least your safe" Maggie had had enough of being lectured. She knew she'd taken a risk but it'd paid off. P.J was still
alive, Rachel was and so was she not to mention the money they'd recovered and the criminal they'd arrested. Things hadn't
worked out that badly. She was about to walk into the station when P.J stopped her from behind.

"P.J what on earth?"

"C'mon, we're off. Hawker's letting us go early. It's only half an hour but he reckons we deserve it"

"Oh ok" Maggie grabbed her bag off P.J and followed him to the car

* * *

"Thank God today's over" Maggie said as she dumped her bag on the dinning room table "Hey tomorrow's our last day"

"Last day in training but not our last day in Sydney" Maggie nodded. She went into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of
water

"Want one P.J?"

"Nah thanks anyway" Maggie went back to sit on the couch but P.J stopped her and pulled the glass out of her hand." I was so
worried that you were gong to get shot today you know" Maggie had had enough of this

"Oh please P.J I was…"

"You were almost killed Maggie. I was stuck behind that wall listening to this guy hold a gun to your head, threatened to kill you
and Rachel and I. I know you think you knew what you were doing and I'm glad you pulled it off but please Maggie don't ever
put your life on the line again when you don't have to"

"Hold on P.J. I knew what I was doing. I've already had this exact conversation with Rachel. I'm not dead, your not dead, she's
not dead, we've recovered 20 thousand dollars and put a criminal away. I think it's turned out well."

"But what if it hadn't. Look Maggs I know you did a great job today, really you did but what if Dresner had've hit you on the
head and thrown you into the water or shot you or had kidnapped you. I would've never forgiven myself. I love you so much and
all I want is for you to be safe" P.J wasn't only thinking about Maggie, but their unborn child which he was sure existed.

"Can we please forget it. Really P.J I love you too but it's all over now and can we please forget about it. We've got more
important things to do"

"Like what?"

"Like spend the next three days enjoying Sydney and saying goodbye to our new friends" P.J nodded and pulled Maggie into a
hug. He had been terrified that she was going to get hurt. If she had he would've felt responsible. How the hell would he have
explained it all to Tom and the rest of the heelers? But she was fine and everything was ok.

* * *

"P.J I love you" Maggie said as she lay in P.J's arms late that night

"I love you too Maggs"

"I was scared today" she rolled over to look at him

"You weren't alone"

"No I was scared of losing you"

"Me! Maggs I wasn't the one being held hostage"

"No but when he opened fire and you were the first to dive, I thought you'd been hit"

"Nah I'm fine"

"I know that!" P.J smiled and held her tight. They fell asleep dreaming of each other. Maggie was certain that she'd tell P.J once
they'd finished the training.

* * *

"Good morning Detectives. You're lazy day isn't it?"

"Yeah Tayler it is. Shame really I don't mind Sydney" P.J said as he walked up the stairs behind Maggie.

"Morning Guys" Maggie said as she dumped her bag on the desk for the final time.

"Hi Maggie, P.J. Hey your last day here" They nodded. It'd been a wonderful visit. They'd enjoyed the warmer weather and the
new company as well as the hassle free time away from the other heelers.

The day was simply a mop up of yesterday's arrest. Maggie and Rachel gave their statements as did Tommy, Helen and Gavin.
Dresner was taken away by the prison squad and was looking at 20 years behind bars.

"Hey Guys, feel like one final trip around the harbor," Rachel asked. Maggie and P.J nodded. Everyone had seemed a little weird
that day, distant in a way, not keen to get involved in a deep conversation.

They hopped on the Nemesis and went off. Meanwhile, Hawker, Bakemore and the rest of the gang went about decorating the
conference room. They moved the desks, removed the files, put Maggie and P.J's bags in Rachel's office and bought the food.
Maggie, P.J, Rachel and Jack were for about an hour, touring everywhere. They stopped near the opera house for Tommy to take
a toilet break. Now that the four were alone Rachel saw this as the perfect opportunity to let them know about the research
she's done.

"You know P.J, I was really impressed with the way you handled yourself yesterday. Very well done. You too Maggie. One thing,
I couldn't help but notice how frantic you were when Maggie was taken by Dresner"

"Yeah well you tend to build a friendship after working together for what almost seven years"

"Gee I suppose you'd know each other really well then?"

"Yeah we do why?" Maggie was getting suspicious about where Rachel was going.

"Well last night Rachel and I went to my cousins for dinner. Rachel's told me about your detective work. Congratulations you
figured us out. Anyway my cousin Kerry and her boyfriend Mark just got engaged and they were down at the park last Monday
with friends. One of the friends took a couple of photographs, which were only developed yesterday. I saw them last night.
Great shots they were"

"Jack what are you on about. Is there a point to this rambling your doing?" P.J asked

"Um yeah there is. I've got one of the photo's here" he showed it to Maggie and P.J

"It's nice photography," Maggie said

"You're telling me! Look in the background and who do you see?"

Maggie and P.J looked in horror! They were in the photo - standing hand in hand kissing. Rachel and Jack started laughing.
Maggie and P.J simply went bright red.

"I, I, I.." Maggie couldn't think of what to say. Talk about bad luck.

"Great timing Jack"

"I reckon, James gets an award for this one. We thought you two were an item. It was the way P.J acted when Maggie was taken
hostage. Don't worry I would've done the same if it'd been Jack. We won't say anything as long as you don't"

Maggie was still stunned. Damn technology!

"We won't" P.J answered for both of them. Tommy returned and drove them back to the station. Maggie had overcome her
redness by the time they walked upstairs to grab their bags.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone yelled

"What the?" P.J started

"Well seeing as though you both were fantastic detectives while you were up here we thought we'd throw you a going away
party" Tayler announced and pulled out a box from underneath the table "Thanks for coming we had a fab time with you guys
and we'll miss you heaps" Tayler handed P.J the box.

"Oh guys thank you so much" Maggie hugged Rachel and everyone else while P.J shook hands with Jeff and Jack and all the
others. They opened the box to find a photo with all of the crew in it and a Sydney Swan's scarf and supporters teddy. Maggie
picked up the teddy and smiled <our kid will love it when they get older> she thought. She was almost ready to tell P.J about the
new arrival. At first overcome by shock and fear, she was scared to tell him, fearing he'd reject her. Despite always knowing
how much he loved her, she didn't know how he felt about kids but she was more than willing to tell him.

"Thank you everyone. We may not be the biggest swans fans in the world but the teddies cute enough"

The party went on well into the night and it was at least 8 before the couple made it through the front door. What a day it'd
been. Maggie flopped on the bed and immediately drifted off. P.J walked in to ask her if she wanted a drink but found her fast
asleep. He smiled and pulled the covers over her after removing her shoes. P.J smiled and went to watch TV

Maggie awoke and rolled over, hoping to find the warm body of her boyfriend beside her but he wasn't there. This alone woke
her up more and she padded out into the living room. P.J was busy in the kitchen cooking pancakes he'd just finished and had
turned off the stove when he saw Maggie walk out of the bedroom.

"Morning sleepy head" He called. She smiled and walked into the kitchen

"Hmm, morning P.J. What time is it?"

"Nine"

"Really. God I must have needed the rest"

<In your condition you do> P.J thought to himself "Yeah you must have. Here breakfast is ready"

"Yum I'm starving" They sat down and ate. After cleaning up they started packing a few things back in their bags. Even though
they still had over a day and a half left, packing was not the way either would prefer to spend the time.

"OK P.J, what's on the agenda today?" Maggie asked as she pulled on a comfy pair of jeans and a T-shirt.

"I don't know, what would you like to do?"

"Um, I'm not fussed. Perhaps we could have a look around the shops"

"Shopping, a woman's paradise. Sure whatever you want because today is your day" He wrapped his arms around her waist

"My day?"

"Yep. Now lets go"

The duo spent a few hours walking through the major department stores in central Sydney. The weather was lovely and they
enjoyed lunch at a beautiful Kings Cross Café. After lunch they wandered through Myers and suddenly stopped at the baby wear
section. Both desperately wanted to go and have a look. P.J didn't want Maggie to know he knew and Maggie didn't want P.J to
know she was pregnant (despite the fact that he already knew but she didn't know that)

"Do you want to" they both said at the same time. They both smiled and walked hand in hand through the aisles.

"Oh these clothes are so small. Aren't they gorgeous?" P.J said while holding up a little jumpsuit. "I love kids. I reckon you'd make
a wonderful mum"

"Yeah, and these shoes are so cute" Maggie picked up a pair of tiny Nike joggers. She could only fit three fingers in them. They
both laughed and continued walking. There were stacks of stuff from information pamphlets to cribs to clothes to car seats.
They spent about an hour walking through the numerous aisles. <He said it! He does want kids. Why did I think he didn't I've
been worrying over nothing! Time to fix that>

"Um P.J I'll be right back ok" Maggie said and quickly walked off. He saw her ask a guy something and he pointed somewhere-
being the restrooms. P.J smiled and continued walking around. He found a gorgeous pair of babies Pajamas. They were cotton
with suns and moons all over them. He thought he might surprise Maggie with them so he bought them and stuffed the bag inside
another he was already carrying so Maggie wouldn't find them. She returned soon after and smiled.

"Right well shall we move on?"

"Ok"

They walked around for another hour or so before both of them started getting sore feet.

"What's next?" Maggie asked as P.J drove towards the mountain lookout beside the harbor

"You'll see" P.J already had this planned.

"But P.J you know I hate surprises"

"Yep. I promise it won't be long till you find out" P.J smiled as she frowned at him and he continues driving.

When they pulled up at the lookout, they were the only ones there. It was quite romantic - secluded and quiet. It had a gorgeous
view overlooking the harbor and the hinterland.

"P.J it's beautiful," Maggie said as she leant on the railing. She turned around to see P.J pull the picnic basket out of the boot.

"I know that's why I brought you here"

They enjoyed the light breeze and the view for a while. P.J couldn't stop looking at her. <She's so beautiful. I wish she'd tell me
what I already know though. I can't wait to tell everyone> he thought.

"Hey Maggs" he said as she snuggled into him.

"Hmm" <I've gotta tell him. It's killing me. >

"I love you. I will always love you. I was, I was wondering if you would be my wife?" P.J fished out the ring from the depths of
his pocket. Maggie was shocked. P.J opened the box and showed her the gold and diamond ring.

"Yes" she smiled and hugged him tight. "I love you so much P.J" P.J slipped the ring on her finger and kissed softly. "Oh yeah,
Maggs, I've got a present for you" and he pulled out the bag

"Oh P.J what is it?' Maggie asked, holding the bag

"Look inside" she smiled and pulled out the pajamas. They were so cute <hold on what the hell? > She looked at him in
astonishment.

"How did you know?" tears were forming in her beautiful brown eyes. P.J laughed

"A couple of nights ago you were having a bad dream. It took a while to settle you down and after you did you blurted out that
you were pregnant. You were asleep but I already kinda thought you might have been. I know you too well I guess"

Maggie smiled and hugged him tightly. "Thank you P.J. But why didn't you tell me you knew and that you wanted kids. For the past
6 weeks I've been stressing over what to do. I had to confide in Jo because I needed someone to talk to"

"Maggie I love kids. I love you and I love our kid. Never doubt that ok" Maggie nodded and smiled. A huge weight had been
lifted off her shoulder.

For the next day and a half Maggie and P.J discussed the wedding and their impending parenthood. P.J just couldn't stop smiling
and holding Maggie. This was a position he'd hoped to be in so many times and finally he was. The plane ride back to Melbourne
was smooth and uneventful. They talked about how they were going to tell the rest of their friends and decided to do it all at
once. The engagement, the parenthood and the future. The past two weeks had almost been to good to be true. They'd phoned
Rachel before they'd left Sydney and told her everything. She promised to pass on all the information. She gave them her
address so they could send her photos of the baby and the wedding.

P.J and Maggie arrived in Tullamarine at 11:30 Saturday morning to a rousing welcome from all their mates. All of the heelers
had turned out to welcome them home. Jo rushed over and gave Maggie a hug

"Did you tell him?" Jo whispered in her ear. Maggie nodded and smiled. Nick and Tom helped them chuck their bags in the back
of his car and the convey of three cars started the journey back to Mt Thomas.

"Hey guys you're all invited to my place tonight for dinner ok" P.J's announcement was cheered by everyone at the station. He
and Maggie went home and unpacked before she went around to his house so they could start planning the wedding. They wanted
to have it as soon as they could. Maggie didn't want to look like beached whale in the photos and she was already beginning to
show.

"Ok everyone may I, well we have your attention please" P.J sat next to Maggie in the lounge room. They'd just finished telling
everyone about their trip and Maggie's hostage crisis. They were all shocked at what they'd been told. Maggie had handed out
the souvenirs they'd bought everyone. Jo got the Sydney snow cone she'd always wanted, Ben got a picture of Kings Cross. Tom
got a collector's spoon. Nick got the 100 and one ways to pick up a girl in Sydney book. And Jack got a Sydney swans scarf.

"So Maggie, what did P.J get you?" Maggie smiled at her question

"Funny you should ask that Jo" Maggie looked at P.J and smiled. "Well I got this" and she held out her hand for everyone to see.
They were all shocked. They all got up and gave both Maggie and P.J either hugs or handshakes. After they all sat back down
again "And these" Maggie added while pulling out the baby Pajamas. She held them up and everyone looked confused. Jo knew
what was going on. She had planned this with the couple.

"Oh P.J, what did Maggie get you?"

"She's giving me the little bundle that'll wear these" and he took the pajamas from his fiancée. Now it all made sense.

"Congratulations you two. You know you could've told us both things at once, then we'd only have to get up to hug you once." Nick
joked. Everyone laughed at his lazy sense of humor and hugged them again. The group stayed and listened to the stories Maggie
and P.J bought back with them before leaving at about 11. Maggie was too tired to go home so she stayed at P.J's.

"Well Ms Doyle, that went off pretty well I think" P.J said as he crawled into bed beside his fiancée.

"Yeah it did" Maggie smiled and kissed him. P.J ran his hand over her stomach and kissed it.

"Night little one" he said before pulling Maggie close and falling asleep. Maggie was too excited to sleep. She just lay there
taking in the loving atmosphere. She remembered when they announced that Sydney was hosting the 2000 games. She's jumped up
and down and was really happy. Now she was even happier. The dramas surrounding the Olympics had brought Maggie and P.J to
the point of no return in their relationship and she was glad she was there. She couldn't imagine spending the rest of her life
with anyone else in the world. P.J was P.J- loving, caring, smart, sexy and funny- and he was *her* P.J.

Maggie drifted off to sleep dreaming about P.J and their kid. Her life would never be the same again. <Perfect>.

The End.

Well I know that was a long one. I'm surprised you made it to the end. Let me know what you think.
