Lost and Found By Jaye Reid Feedback to jayereid@mcmedia.com.au Written 26/09/1999 THIS IS NOT PART OF MY SERIES. Disclaimer: I wonder what it would cost to own them??? Perhaps if we all pooled our money together they would sell them to us and we could share them amongst the Fanfic writers? Then we wouldn't have to say at the start of each fic that the characters you recognise belong to Southern Star and the Seven Network. And that the only thing here that I own is the story! Hummmm.............. AS IF!! Authors Notes: It's amazing what comes to you at two in the morning!! Again, I was thinking some characters don't get a lot written about them. I'm not sure how to describe this story, I guess you will have to read it and tell me what you think. (: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ben looked dashing in his dark grey suit. A cream rose was stuck firmly through the buttonhole of his jacket that now sat draped over the back of his chair at the Bridal table. Formalities over, it was time for everyone to let their hair down. The music played loudly as they danced the night away at the Imperial. The room looked better than ever. Chris had done a wonderful job. Streamers, balloons, garlands of flowers. Everything was perfect. The music stopped. "I think I will sit the next one out," he said giving his new wife a hug. "Perfect," said Tom, overhearing his words, "may I dance with the bride?" Ben smiled taking her hand passing it over to Tom. Ben stood back from the dance floor and caught his breath. He smiled proudly as he watched his two daughters dance with their brother. He was glad that his ex- wife had allowed them to be involved. She had even commented that his marriage may last. She said that the best partner was for a copper was a like minded soul who knew how the job worked. The day had gone exceptionally well. The sun shone, and the clouds that had threatened rain early in the morning had kept at bay. He had stood nervously at the alter, waiting for her to arrive. He wondered why it had taken him so long to reach this point. When he thought back, the signs had always been there. Their friendship, the support and advice. And even without first-hand experience, she was wonderful with the children. The church music had changed, heralding her arrival. Josh. came down the aisle first. He looked adorable in his little suit, but uncomfortable at the same time. Ben grinned as his son tugged at the collar of the shirt. Obviously a bit tighter than he was used to! Closely following Josh, were Emma and then Maddie. They wore long pale blue chiffon dresses with blue satin sashes around the waist and carried posies of cream roses with blue forget-me-nots. His two little girls had become two young ladies……. Then came Maggie. She looked beautiful. She smiled happily as she made her way down the aisle. She carried a larger bouquet of roses and forget-me-nots than the girls. She had chosen a darker blue chiffon strapless dress and wore a long white chiffon scarf draped around her neck that flowed softly down her back. She smiled at Ben as she reached the top of the aisle. He nodded to her, knowing he had made the right decision. Notable to several people, was the absence of P.J. Hasham. He had been invited, but had already made it quite clear that he disapproved of the union. Ben hoped that one day he would see reason, but if not, it was P.J.'s problem to deal with. Back to the present and Ben looked around the room at the reception. Jo. and Jack seemed to be enjoying each others company. They had spent the evening together. Ben watched as they headed out the door, Jack with his arm around Jo. Very interesting he grinned. As his eyes followed them to the doorway, he could see P.J. standing over there talking intently with Maggie. So he *had* decided to turn up. From the distance between them and the decibel level of the music, he couldn't hear what they were discussing. He saw P.J. give Maggie a delicate kiss on the cheek, before P.J. noticed Ben watching them. P.J. nodded and Ben gave a wave in their direction. Maggie turned around and too, saw Ben. She smiled at Ben, and he returned the grin. Before Ben realised, his bride was standing in front of him. Urging him to once again dance with her. "Okay, okay, for you *anything,*" he said. "*Anything,*" she replied. "Yes anything," he grinned. "Now this wouldn't just be a marriage of convenience would it?" she joked happily. "I think P.J. thinks it is." "Bugger what P.J. thinks," scoffed Ben, looking over at P.J. still talking to their bridesmaid. "My beautiful darling Chris, if all I wanted was free beer from my Publican wife, then I would be a very silly man!" The End. Ha! Bet you didn't expect that!! FEEDBACK IS VITAL!!!! IT DOESN'T TAKE MUCH EFFORT TO HIT THE REPLY BUTTON. PLEASE!
