A Jack and Jo Adventure I: The Furniture Van By Sarah "Hello Mt Thomas Police Station, Constable Jo Parrish speaking," Jo said as she picked up the phone, "Yes... alright stay where you are we'll be right there." Jo put down the phone and picked up her hat. "The Jojaki's neighbour just phoned, there's a van outside the Jojaki's and someone carrying out furniture." "Alright, Jack you go with Jo. Be careful though, it may be nothing but we have to treat the matter seriously," Tom called from his office. "Yep let's go," Jack said grabbing the car key's and giving Jo and playful push on the back. "Well the van's still there," Jo said as they pulled up outside the house. "Yeah, that van couldn't fit that much in it," Jack pointed out. "Yeah, it's probably nothing but we should check it out anyway." Jack and Jo walked up the path and knocked on the door. "Nah no-ones here," Jack said turning to leave. "Wait Jack, can't you hear that? Some-ones in there." Jack paused and listed, "You're right, Hello?? Can you hear me?? Are you ok??" "I'll take the back door," Jo said disappearing around the back of the house. "Sir? This is Jack Lawson from Mt Thomas Police can you open up please." After a minute the door flew open and a man holding a shotgun at Jo appeared. "Listen up copper, if you don't want your friend dead, then get in the van," He yelled opening the back of the van and shoving Jack and Jo in, locking the door. Jack's head was swimming, how did this happen?? He should have done something instead of just standing there. "Jo are you ok?" He asked desperately, squinting his eyes in the dark van. "Jo??" "Yeah?" Jo asked rubbing her head that was throbbing. "Are you ok???" Jack crawled over to where Jo was lying and helped her sit up. "Yeah I just bumped my head when we started moving. You?" "Yeah... I guess, as well as one could be in this situation." "Hm... so where'd you think we're going??" Jo asked trying to work out what direction they were going in. "I have no idea, what are we gonna do?" "Go along with whatever he says I guess. Have you ever been in a situation like this before?" "Nope never, I have no idea what to do." "Me either, I'm shaking I'm so scared," Jo admitted leaning into Jack. "Yeah me too." They sat in silence for a couple of minutes, just listening to the rattling as the van and the cursing of the driver. "He's pretty freaked out isn't it?" Jo murmured. "Hm... I think we destroyed his plan. So it seems we have a lot of time on our hands here." "Yeah, so what are we goign to talk about?" "I don't know, do you reckon he can hear us?" "Probably not... so what's your horrible hidden past?" "What hidden past?" Jack grinned. "Come on everyone has one, what's yours?" "Well, I dated this girl Molly for like 4 years, then she had an affair and we broke up," Jack said glumly. "Hm... well at least she didn't try and kill you like Andy did," Jo said brightly trying to lighten the mood. "Yeah I guess," Jack murmured a faint smile appearing on his face. "The thing was, I thought she was going to be the one I married, things just didn't turn out right did they?" "Guess not." "Hm... oh well I guess I'm just going to be alone forever then." "Stop sounding so morbid! You're only 19, you've got your whole life ahead of you, of course you're going to find the right person... maybe you already have." "What does that mean?" Jack asked curiously. "Ah, nothing." "No come on tell me." "I just meant, maybe you've already met the person, and you just never realised." Jack grinned, "Maybe." The van came to a halt and both Jack and Jo banged into the side of it. "I guess we're here," Jack murmured pulling himself up and helping up Jo. They both pulled out their guns and waited for the driver to open the van. When he did, then made him drop his weapon, and they arrested him. Back at the Station "Thanks Jack," Jo said walking over to Jack's desk. "What for?" He asked confused. "Saving me." "Me saving you? You saved me!" Ben walked past and laughed, "Well I guess you saved each other." "Well thanks anyway," Jo smiled. "Yeah thanks," Jack gave Jo a quick kiss then darted out of the station.
