SENIOR SUN TIMES
SEPTEMBER 2004
Hello everyone!! It was great to see all of you at the meeting on September 9th, Thursday. We covered alot of ground in a very short period of time. I also attended the Unit Leader's meeting on Monday September 13th - so I hope this newsletter will give you a heads-up on all that was discussed and is currently in the planning for the next few months!
BADGEWORK PAGE
The first thing to dicuss is our path to the Gold Award. Each of you will have your own web-page on this site to help you keep up with where you are in your Gold process. Just go to the Badgework Page listed on the home page, then click your name (or camp name if you see it there) and it will take you straight to your personal page. This page will allow you to know deadlines and the current status of your work. It also will hold important dates for you to help you prepare your Gold Applications. Please remember that I must review and sign all Gold Applications BEFORE they go to council!! My e-mail address is located on your personal page as well as all over the site - so be sure to get your questions to me and I promise you a prompt response!!
QSP SALES
I picked up QSP materials at the Leader's meeting and by now all of you should have your materials. QSP Sales start September 20th, and END October 10th. Please make sure you turn them in to me on or before that date. All proceeds will go to the troop to fund patches, pins, and future events - so SELL, SELL, SELL! I have not prepared a formal training period as you all have been in scouting for years - but the major change is we now get 11% of sales. Please take the time to fill out your address books as this is a straight $2 per book to the troop!
FUTURE MEETING
Our next meeting will be held Tuesday, November 2nd at 6:30pm. We will be having a "Luau" party and also be doing Rededication for the year 2004-2005 - so know your Girl Scout LAW!!! Please come dressed for the occassion, and plan on having some fun!! All work assignments shown due on your Badgework page will need to be handed in that night. Also - any badges or pins that you have earned so far will be awarded that night - so if you have work and would like to receive your award that night - please get it to me no later than October 29th, Friday - so I have time to purchase them!
FUTURE EVENTS
The following events are in the planning stages or need your feedback - so please e-mail me with your responses ASAP!!

The first item we have planned is on
October 23rd, at night (details to be announced later) We will be attending the Band Competitions at Invesco Field as part of our STARS patch requirments. Please let me know if that date will be a conflict for anyone. The prices, permission slips and times will be e-mailed to you as available!

The next item I need feedback on  I would like to get tickets to see the
"Dracula" Ballet at the Temple Buell Theatre downtown for Friday, October 29th, at 7:30pm. Tickets will cost about $35.00. Please -email me ASAP and let me know if you would like to do this fiedld trip for our Stars program requirements!

On October 30th, Saturday, in the afternoon the Unit will be holding a Halloween Party for Juliette Low's Birthday - and having a Haunted House. Troop 3020 needs volunteers to help run the haunted house and other booths for the party. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer and I will have the leader of Troop 3020 give you a call with further information!
HAWAII 2005
We all discussed that we would like to plan a trip to Hawaii - the big island -  the week of Labor Day of September 2005. At this time I will probably need your airfare by June of 2005 in order to get the cheapest tickets available - but I will continue to research this to see the best time to buy tickets for the September season. Please plan on having about $600 to cover the cost of your ticket by the end of this school year. We will continue to sell cookbooks and that should allow us some help with the monies for events in the troop and for some trip expenditure help. Keep thinking of places and ways to sell cookbooks and let me know of any ideas on your part!
