04 JULY 2005 : NEW BILSTEIN SHOCKS AND MAGNECOR WIRES!
The AE101 Corolla is generally a well-balanced automobile. But with the heavier engine up front, we needed to beef up the front suspension.
In went Bilstein Heavy Duty's. This is the only real bolt-on from the Bilstein line for this model. I would have wanted one of their sport shocks like in my old Honda Accord. Thanks to Makna Marketing and Arvin!
The ride is firmer but not jarring. It has improved over-all control. This is really a daily-driven set-up. For the track, I'd still need firmer and shorter springs.
Also got a set of Magnecor 8mm spark plug cables courtesy of Fensport. Noticed quicker pick-ups and stronger response at high-revs. The engine more willing to pull to red-line. I suspect my old wires were simply shot. But with the impending MSD 6A install, this is a good, reliable mod. Although, I'm sure the stock set would do quite well.
By the way, Makna can actually put together an adjustable shock for you. They can thread the shock, put in adjustable spring mounts and even let you choose your spring rates.
