Birth Chart Reading
For Diana
Introduction
WHAT IS ASTROLOGY?
Astrology is an ancient field of study. As far back as we have recorded history, we have astrological concepts. Further back, scratches (made by Neolithic hunters) on reindeer horns correspond to the phases of the Moon.
Astrology uses the patterns of the heavens to more fully understand life on Earth. The positions of the planets are seen as symbolizing personality traits and tendencies, as well as human cycles of development. Using a horoscope is like looking in a mirror; we can see ourselves more clearly and easily as unique individuals. Just as the mirror does not set our appearance, but only reflects it, so the planets do not create our personalities, but only reflect them. Using astrology to describe personality strengths, weaknesses, talents, abilities and challenges requires a natal (or birth) horoscope. A natal horoscope is like a map of the sky for your instant of birth, looking from the viewpoint of your birthplace. Your moment of birth gives a "freeze frame"--an exact snapshot of the positions of all the planets. No one else has the same horoscope as you--unless they were born in the exact same place, at the exact same minute, as you were. The next few pages of this report will introduce you to the basic tools of astrology--planets, signs, houses, and aspects (how the planets relate to each other at a given moment) The remainder of the report will be devoted to interpreting each of the planets in your horoscope, in terms of their placement in signs, houses, and aspects.
Astrology sees mankind as being not only influenced by hereditary factors and the environment, but also by the state of our solar system at the moment of birth. The planets are regarded as basic life-forces, the tools we live by as well as the basis of our very substance. These planetary forces take on different forms, depending on their zodiacal position and on the way they relate to one another.
The aspects formed between the planets describe these relationships, the positions of the planets in relation to the place of birth tell us of their expression in the spheres of life depicted by the astrological houses.
By interpreting the roles of these players (the planets) and their qualities (the elements, signs and houses) and creating a synthesis, astrology is able to present a complete and comprehensive picture of the person and his potential, based on the natal horoscope.
Welcome to your Natal Chart report. Your Natal Chart report is an astrological chart based on the mathematically precise positions of the planets and the Sun & Moon at the time, date and place of your birth. It provides you with insights into your character and personal life potentials by indicating the strengths you have and the challenges you experience in life.
Your Natal Chart report covers, among other things, your primary motivation in life, your identity, emotions, mentality, love and sexuality, spirituality, earning ability and career potentialities and so on.
In some parts of the report you will come across apparent contradictions in the descriptions of your character. This is to be expected. Individuals are complex and contain many contradictory facets to their personality.
THE FIFTH ELEMENT (!) Western traditional sources also take into account a fifth element, the 'quinta essentia'. This very simply describes the soul or the spiritual being of a person. It stands apart from the other four elements and is not depicted in the horoscope. This is why it is frequently overlooked. It takes us beyond the doctrine of the four elements and their application in the field of astrology. It hints at the freedom of man and reminds us of the great mystery of the eternal.
Each astrological influence described in this report is a resource available to you. It is up to you to express these energy patterns in the best possible way. It is possible to repress, block, or try to avoid issues, or to fight yourself; hopefully this report will help clarify issues in your life, and encourage you to master your life rather than be a victim of circumstances.

The Planets into the Signs
Sun
The Sun describes your sense of personal identity, your creative expression and ability to realise your individual potential and gain recognition.

Wherever our Sun is (in one of 12 houses, and in one of 12 signs), we want to be admired, noticed, loved, or applauded by the world. We feel most vital and alive when expressing the themes of our Sun's house and sign. Since it is a key to vitality and zest, we naturally pour energy into the activities represented by our Sun's house and sign.

It also is a key to our home, our roots (ancestry), and our sensitivities.

Wherever Mercury is in our horoscope (by house and sign), we are curious, interested, and want to know. We may learn and/or teach in that area. Our Mercury placements help to describe our verbal styles and the way we use our minds.

You desire association with others who share an enthusiasm for fun and outdoor activity, or an interest in philosophical discussions. It is likely that you will form attachments to people from other parts of the world.
Mars
Mars describes the way you act and assert yourself, your basic urges and desires, and your ability to achieve personal goals.
Mars represents our need to assert ourselves, to defend our own rights, to identify and go after what we want in the world. Mars can be a key to healthy self-expression and personal power, but it can also represent aggression, fights, arguments, anger and negative forms of assertion.
Mars is an indicator of our basic physical energy and health, sexual drive, where we seek freedom, our desire to do things on our own, and our sense of basic identity. Wherever Mars is in our horoscope (by house and sign), we want to express ourselves, be free and be active. If the personal energy symbolized by Mars is blocked, we might experience physical or interpersonal problems as a result of not defending our own needs. If we carry Martian themes too far, we may be rash, impulsive or self-centred in the areas where Mars lies.
If we balance our Martian side with other drives, we can be assertive in a healthy fashion, meeting our own needs and drives in a constructive manner.
Keywords: assertion, self-expression, independence, personal power, desires, spontaneous instincts, immediate needs, anger, sexual drive, early identity, doing one's thing, need to be first, energy level.
Mars is in Capricorn

Known for your efficiency, you can be relied upon to carry out well-planned actions effectively and with the minimum of fuss.
Jupiter
Jupiter describes how you relate to the larger world beyond your personal self, how you expand in life, and experience higher learning, travel or religion.
Jupiter represents our need to believe and to aspire. It indicates our ideals, what we tend to value and want more of in life. It is also a key to where we can exaggerate or overdo. Jupiter indicates potential opportunities and the confidence to pursue our visions.
Wherever Jupiter is in our horoscope (by house and sign), we tend to place our faith. We are likely to seek more in that area, and may even over expand. (If we see something as good, more is better.) Jupiter's placement may indicate that an individual values money, or a partner, a religion, etc.
Where Jupiter is a key, we may idealize (and put a part of life on a pedestal) or expect more than is possible. Jupiter symbolizes our optimistic spirit, where we tend to look on the bright side, have hope, and see the highest potentials.
Keywords: ideals and goals, beliefs, values, morality/ethics, faith, optimism, quest for the truth, philosophy/religion, drive for expanded horizons, high expectations, seeking the best/highest, expansiveness.
Jupiter is in Capricorn
Success in life comes through old-fashioned patience and perseverance, coupled with a sense of reality for what is possible. You have the capability to rise in life to positions of power and responsibility, and to advance in a career. In time, you will acquire maturity and wisdom based on experience. You attain your goals in life the hard way.
Saturn
Saturn describes your experience of reality, your fears and inhibitions, where you are serious, and how you respond to society's rules.
Saturn represents our need to structure life and test reality. Saturn is a key to the limits of life: what we can do, cannot do, and have to do. It is also symbolic of authority figures in our lives: from the rule-maker parent (usually Dad) to police officers and presidents. Saturn symbolizes our career, our conscience, our ambitions and our need to have power over the physical world.
Wherever Saturn is in our horoscope (by house and sign), we learn to face reality and what is possible. We often deal with consequences (cause and effect).
Saturn represents the principle of learning through experience (sometimes the "school of hard knocks"). Where Saturn principles are carried too far, people may feel blocked, inhibited, incapable, incompetent, or unable to do anything. Where Saturn principles are ignored, people may push the world (or others) until they discover certain principles (including the laws of the land) are bigger than they are; eventually we reap the consequences of what we have sown. People who are balanced in their expression of what
Saturn represents are practical achievers who do as much as is possible within the structures of society. Saturn is a key to our capacity to learn by doing, to deal sensibly with the material world, to work responsibly, and to produce tangible results.
Keywords: reality quotient, response to and desire for authority, attitudes toward the orthodoxy and what society deems appropriate, practicality, capacity to deal with limits, career drives, sense of responsibility, discipline/ effort, status ambitions, urge to solidify/contract, wisdom of experience.
Saturn is in Virgo
You have a serious attitude to work; are hardworking, efficient and insistent about following correct procedures. You can, at times, be too exacting and concerned about details. While, you have a fine eye for detail, you can be over-critical and pedantic.
Uranus
Uranus a generational planet - describes areas of personal and peer group uniqueness, your intuitive awareness, and your ability to adapt to the new and sudden.
Uranus represents our need to change and alter. It is a key to our drive for individuality and uniqueness. Uranus symbolizes our need for the freedom to be different, to explore alternatives, and to look toward the future and progress.
Wherever Uranus is in our horoscope (by house and sign), we need to be independent. We need to come from our own unique essence. Our Uranus placements indicate where we seek space, where we can innovate and be inventive. (They also indicate where we can be surprised.) Uranus mirrors our urge to consider alternatives, to be open and to be equalitarian.
Keywords: individuality, freedom drives, inventiveness, originality, humanitarian instincts, detachment, pull toward the future, eccentricity, innovation, sudden changes, interest in technology, the new or "cutting edge".
Uranus is in Gemini

Neptune
Neptune a generational planet - describes your personal and peer group experiences of spirituality, your powers of inspired fantasy, and areas of illusion.
Neptune represents our need to merge and seek transcendence. Neptune is a key to our search for the beautiful dream. That may be sought through art, through healing or helping activities, or through escapist means.
Neptune indicates our drive to experience Oneness, to be a part of the whole, to connect with something Higher or ecstatic in life. We may seek transcendence through spiritual or religious paths, be "swept away" in nature worship, look to drugs for ecstasy, live in a "perfect" fantasy world, or find inspiration in philanthropy and compassionate assistance of humanity. Wherever Neptune is in our horoscope (by house and sign), we want to be inspired and must be wary of rose-colored glasses. We need to feel uplifted where our Neptune is placed, and may fool ourselves into viewing matters through a romantic haze. We seek transcendent experiences in the areas connected to Neptune in our horoscope.
Keywords: quest for Oneness/Union/transcendence, idealism, quest for infinite love and beauty, intuition, saviour/victim potentials, compassion, imagination/fantasy, mysticism, escapism.
Neptune is in Libra
You are part of a generation that tends to idealize romantic love and marriage. There is the potential for unrealistic expectations in relationships, that can lead to letdowns or disappointments. You have a high sensitivity to beauty and refinement, coupled with an appreciation of the arts.
Pluto
Pluto a generational planet - describes your personal and peer group experience of upheavals, forces beyond individual control, power, and irreversible changes.
Pluto represents our need to relate intimately with another person and with our own psyche. Pluto is another key to sexuality: our drive to share the world (especially sensually and financially) with another person—and learning about ourselves through interacting with someone else.
Pluto also indicates our inner drive for self-mastery, self-insight and self-understanding. Pluto themes have to do with depth analysis, tearing things down and regeneration and transformation as well. Wherever Pluto is in our horoscope (by house and sign), we tend to probe beneath the surface. We tend to pick at, and examine carefully those areas, looking for hidden meanings and deeper layers. We may tear down and then build up, analyze carefully, and then rework and transform.
Pluto also symbolizes our approach to shared resources, money, and sexuality. Pluto represents our deepest, most intense feelings and our capacity to share power, pleasure and possessions with another person.
Keywords: intensity, drive for self-mastery, intimacy instincts, sexual needs, drive for transformation, elimination/completion urges, resentment/forgiveness, probing, complicated motives, compulsions, addictions, resourcefulness.
Pluto is in Leo
You have a strong need to be self-expressive and to make an impression on others and the world in general. You are part of a generation of leaders and doers. While you tend to challenge authority, you can be extreme and dictatorial when in positions of power yourself.
Moon's North Node
The Moon's North Node a mathematical point - describes how you interact with others socially and the types of unions you form. The sign and house of the North Node represent circumstances and activities that usually feel unfamiliar. It’s the “secret shadow” of the South Node sign, and it’s the key to getting that craving met. That’s why the North node reveals an area of massive growth potential in your life. It’s the key to getting energy flowing.
Sometimes in the astrological literature, you will see interpretations that color the North Node as all positive, and the South Node as all negative. Sometimes they suggest that you should strive to move “toward” the North Node and shun the qualities represented by the sign of the South Node. As if that were possible. This is not necessarily a constructive idea. Your South Node indicates an area of massive talent. The idea is to strike a balance between both sides.
Important Point: When you finally learn to express your North Node, the positive traits of your South Node sign shine through. We tend to cling to our South Node sign, but if we do, we are seldom happy with the result. Ironically, it is only when we concentrate on our North Node sign that we get what we want from our South Node placement. Usually, only the North Node is included in the horoscope. There really isn’t any need to show the South Node because we always know where it is, exactly opposite the North Node. The Sign position of your nodes shows the main battle you have to deal with. The House position shows which area of your life that struggle will take place..
The Moon's North Node is in Taurus
You seek to establish loyal and stable personal unions. There is a desire for enduring friendships and reliable connections. You tend to form contacts with down-to-earth and realistic people. Contact with the arts or artists are possible.
This is a tendency to depend too much on both the resources and values of others. There is also a subconscious need to attract instability and upheavals. A Taurus North Node means that the South Node is in Scorpio, a sign that is attracted to the hidden, the underside, the underworld. Scorpio likes to “die”, to go way down, before it regenerates. Your need here is to concentrate on the regeneration and not the downswing, to build your own resources, and even more important, to develop your own value system.
Everybody has to develop their own resources and values. But people with the North Node in Taurus or the 2nd house really need to do so.
Moon's South Node
The Moon's South Node a mathematical point - describes challenges in your relationship with others - shows the place where you feel comfortable. Too comfortable. If you stay there, you get into a rut. And worse. Your life can stagnate. That effect is heightened if there are planets making a conjunction to the South Node.
Picture the South Node as your roots and the North Node as your leaves and branches. You have to grow in the direction of the leaves. If you spend too much time on your South Node roots, you get root rot.
The South Node represents habit patterns from childhood or from past lives. These are comfortable patterns, but they often get in the way of you having the kinds of connections you want with other people. These are especially powerful if you have a planet conjunct the South Node in your chart.
The sign and house placement of the South Node tells where you have a tendency to totally overdo things. There is a longing there, a craving that is very strong. The nature of this longing is shown by the sign of the South Node. For example, in Taurus, the craving is for material security. In Leo, for recognition. In Gemini, for information.
The Moon's South Node is in Scorpio
The South Node in Scorpio represents a longing for close bonding and mutual empowerment with another person. The old pattern is to attempt to do this by buying into another person’s system of values and priorities (Scorpio). Your longing for a fulfilling intimate relationship will only be satisfied when you focus on your own strength, your own values, your own priorities. When you do so, the right people will appear to support your goals
Power games and displays of jealousy are a sure-fire way to upset your relationships.
Ascendant
The Ascendant or Rising Sign describes your self-presentation and image, the face you show the world, and the nature of your personal and wider environment.
The Ascendant is in Cancer
Your primary motivation in life is to feel emotionally secure. You are sensitive and emotional, however you can also be over-sensitive and easily hurt by people. You are receptive to the needs of others and have a natural desire to care for or protect people. Family and domestic matters are always important to you, and your home is your retreat and sanctuary. At times, you are susceptible to changeable moods, irritability and touchiness.
Midheaven
The Midheaven describes your highest aspirations in life and means to self-fulfilment, your personal vocation, and your status as perceived by others
Midheaven indicates one’s career tendencies, public image (as opposed to private image), the parent of greater influence (usually the mother), and people who may have power or authority over you (bosses, judges, etc.). Yes, planets IN this house affect the career. So does the SIGN at the beginning (the cusp) of the house, as well as the RULING PLANET of that sign.
The Midheaven is in Aries
Your aim in life is to become self-reliant and independent. This can be achieved through being resourceful and taking risks. It is also to your advantage to pursue and accept leadership roles. Self-realisation comes through your own efforts and actions.
Vertex
The Vertex is a point in the horoscope that can indicate a sense of destiny working through another person or outstanding event. It may be stimulated by transits, progressions or directions, other people (synastry/composite) or a change of location. The house and sign position can offer clues as to where the change or turning point may take place and in what way. All students are encouraged to watch the vertex in their own charts, determining for themselves the relative value. After all, we never know when Vertumnus might enter our garden in the guise of someone else, offering an unexpected turn of fate!
When there are transits or progressed aspects to the Vertex, the qualities of the Vertex sign will be emphasized. Under favorable aspects, we are drawn by people (indicated by the House position) to express the aptitudes of the Vertex sign. Under afflictions, we seem to have problems with the Vertex sign energy..
The Vertex is in Sagittarius
In this lifetime, you must go beyond the facts in order to see the Big Picture. You may be drawn to give testimony wherein you must draw conclusions from many facts. The Gemini details may look good for now but they do not serve in the long run. The individual must teach at an expanded or philosophical level based upon the accumulated facts—extracting wisdom from what you know. Go beyond the facts to the truth of the matter. Do not get bogged down with superficial, gossipy information. You will be drawn to deal with philosophical, spiritual or moral issues in connection with the Vertex House position.
Chiron
Chiron's placement in the horoscope often pinpoints an area where we do for others what we would, but cannot do for ourselves. Significant transits, whether from the Outer Planets or from Chiron to the natal Chiron placement trigger important developments in our dharma, that special something we've come to give to others. Through this process, often the journey of lifetimes, we ultimately secure our own freedom and release from pain.
Chiron in the chart often reveals wounds resulting from traumas that we have received in the very early stages of life. Sometimes, however, the wound is very ancient, seemingly inexplicable in terms of one's experience but always central to psychological themes that are repetitive and chronic. Or an event of little outer consequence takes on an exaggerated meaning because it ties into an old soul issue, a leitmotif in the tapestry of lifetimes. The issue at hand is very intrinsic to the person's spiritual quest.
Chiron takes on greater significance for those who consciously take up the Path or who, at least, consciously are inspired by a sense of mission. Dreams and revelations, intuitive understanding and mystical experiences often relate to the Chironic theme.
Chiron is in Sagittarius
Sagittarius has to do with our ability to get the "big picture" and our ability to judge. The negative side of the sign is that it may show where we do not listen to anyone else because we already "understand" it all. For instance, if Chiron is in Sagittarius in the 2nd house (money) we may not listen to financial advice from others. We would be too busy giving our own. Always double-check any advice given to you by someone with Chiron in Sagittarius, especially if they claim to be an expert on the subject. Those with this Chiron placement who seem to be more modest and don't try to push their views on you are more likely to be the ones who give good advice.
Chiron placed in Sagittarius indicates a wounding or break with the traditions or spiritual teachings in youth. These people find that life is one continuing spiritual crisis, and they are often on the edge of spiritual thinking. They can be drawn to atheism on the one side or fundamentalism on the other, but regardless of what they may say, they are passionate "believers" of one sort or another - they are almost never true agnostics. They are avid students and make excellent teachers.
Chiron (to bring about the fullest potential) in Sagittarius (Free and Tolerant)
You need to bring about the fullest potential in the free and tolerant way in which you deal with, for instance, philosophy, your high standards, long journeys etc. The answer lies in the missing part of something you have. It may be that, for instance, you seek to know but you need to listen and learn. Or you could be too tolerant in your beliefs, or even too intolerant! Through the areas of optimism, action and enthusiasm, you may find your resolution.
Ceres
Ceres describes the ways in which we face the issues of Self-worth and self esteem, relationships to our parents and children, attachment, dependency, loss, separation, rejection, grief, sharing work and productivity.
Ceres in the Signs shows how we meet our needs to give and receive nurturance; our nurturing style and the types of things that make us feel nurtured, and what we need from ourselves and others to feel unconditionally loved and accepted.
Ceres in the Houses shows where we are most readily experience the need to give and receive nurturing.Ceres also indicates what kind of experiences will foster feelings of self- love and self-acceptance, or self-rejection and critical attitudes.
Ceres is in Leo
Attention, respect, and admiration will make this one feel nurtured. Put on a show for their benefit. Better yet, make them a participant. Leo's motto is "Nothing but the best." It may be expensive sometimes, but that will make Ceres in Leo feel nurtured. If you want to go via a cheaper route to satisfy someone with this placement, do something to make them the center of attention and admiration.
Pallas Athene
Pallas Athene, Goddess of Wisdom and Justice, patroness of the arts and protectress of the state, describes how we face the issues of learning, creativity, the arts, politics, healing, alienations from relationships, competition, and the fears of success.
Pallas Athene (the Roman name for the Greek Athena) shows our ability to recognize patterns, to arrange and re-arrange things, our skills in problem solving .
Pallas Athene in the Signs describes the styles of perception through which the creative mind operates. Pallas Athene shows your preferred style for doing these things.
Pallas Athene is in Taurus
Your perception is through the physical sense-organs. You "sees" the beauty to the world through visual, auditory and tactile senses. Because Taurus is strongly connected to the Earth and physical substance, Pallas Athene in this position is strong. Healing works through nature or by laying on of hands. Aesthetically, you're skilled in the use of colours, form, and textures to produce Beauty through Art, Music, Gardening or Landscaping. You politically care about earth ecology or land reform.
The Wisdom of Pallas Athene in Taurus is Common Sense - You sensibly combine suggestions of folk remedies and streetwise knowledge to face Life's challenges.
Juno
Juno describes the ways in which we face the issues of compatibility, receptivity to others, mutual sharing, trust jealousy and power struggles.
Juno in the horoscope gives a good indication of the kind of marriage partner that we need and will get. Not the partner we think we want (those are ruled by Venus and Mars), but the one we need and actually wind up with.
Juno in the signs describes twelve styles of relating and meeting our intimacy needs. If these needs are denied, then Juno signifies the subsequent neurotic interactions that we will experience.
Venus and Mars show what we consider to be our ideal man or woman. The 5th house describes the type of people we tend to get involved with romantically. The 7th house tells us the kind of person our first marriage partner will be (and the 9th house describes our 2nd marriage partner, if any). Juno works on a more fundamental level.
Juno is in Aries
Independence and freedom in relationships is what you need - To be who you are without having to succumb to others' ideals. Your identity and feelings of well-being is strongly connected to your need for autonomy, suppression of your true self will result in migraine headaches (a common house wife's ailment) and depression. You are attracted to strong partners, - meaning individuals with strong personality and stable sense of self. Someone you would consider truly your equal, someone who would treat you and love you with the same respect.
Vesta
Vesta 's placement in the horoscope shows where and how we can be dedicated, where we can focus our energies to the greatest effect. But it also shows where, periodically, we have to withdraw and "recharge our batteries." If we don't, we will become drained, and even sick.
Vesta in the signs describe the styles of focus and commitment, and what we have to exclude from our lives to achieve that purpose. Vesta also describes the way in which we deal with personal sexual energy - either through free expression, sublimation, or repression.
Vesta is in Scorpio
Vesta in Scorpio expresses itself in and intense and penetrating manner. People with this placement seek depth and thoroughness in all their commitments. Sexuality is regarded as a peak experience to be had regardless of existing consensus. On the other hand, these individuals may experience feelings of guilt, sin and shame in sexual matters, which can cause them to be sexually inhibited or repressed.
Vesta in Scorpio focuses on finding hidden secrets, or on matters concerning rehabilitation or elimination. Good for projects where something is either transformed or eliminated, or where something hidden must be investigated. You have tremendous powers of concentration and dedication, you don't usually give up half way when you take on a task. The Part of Fortune is used to describe the basic way in which the individual is physically connected with the surrounding world. It is one of the significators of the body and health, and it is the primary significator of prosperity, and also career as it relates to prosperity.
One of the Arabian Points (q.v.). A point that bears the same relation to the Rising Degree that the Moon bears to the Sun. It occupies the same House-position in a Figure based on a birth-moment, that the Moon tenants in a Solar Figure. Its symbol, a cross within a circle ED, is that utilized by astronomers to represent the Earth. It is the ancient Chinese symbol Tien, a field; used by the Egyptians to signify territory. It is generally considered that the House position of Fortuna is an indication of the department of life that will most readily contribute to the financial welfare of the native. If so it tends to lend emphasis to the theory that one succeeds best at that which one likes best; that congeniality of occupation is a contributing factor to success therein. v. Arabian Points..
The Part of Fortune is in Leo
The characteristic style of Leo is showy, grand, and generous. Leo has self-assurance and leadership ability. Leo acts self-expressively, dramatically, and creatively. The person with the Part of Fortune in Leo needs recognition from others to feel happy and successful.
Black Moon
The Black Moon Lilith describes our relationship to the absolute, to sacrifice as such, and shows us how we let go. In transit, Black Moon Lilith indicates a form of castration or frustrations, most often in areas of desire, a powerlessness of the psyche, or a general inhibition. It also shows where we question ourselves, our lives, our jobs, and our beliefs. This is important as it gives us the opportunity to let go of something.
Black Moon Lilith shows us we can let the entire event flow into ourselves, without putting our ego in the way to resist it. It does not mean you are passive - contrary to it - it symbolizes the firm will to be open and trusting, to let the greater will of the Universe flow through you, trusting that when Lilith is done with this moment of your life, you will be ready for the challenges that comes. To prepare us for this new opportunity, Black Moon Lilith creates the necessary void.
There are actually 3 Liliths in Astrology.
1. The Black Moon (a mathematical point).
2. The Dark Moon (a theoretical second Moon that orbits the Earth 3 times more distant than our normal Moon.
3. Asteriod number 1181 that orbits the Sun in the asteriod belt between Mars and Jupiter.
All are named after the Dark Goddess Lilith... more infamously known as Adam's runaway bride. The 3 aspects vibrate at different frequencies, in chords & octaves, opening channels to clear & spiritualize the emotional body. The cycle of our Lilith experience is initiated by the asteroid Lilith, developed by the Dark Moon Lilith & completed by the Black Moon Lilith.
The elliptical orbit of the Moon has two foci, the Earth, and a second point located in empty space that is identified with Lilith. Lilith therefore is not a planet but a gravitational focus in space. Lilith rotates slowly around the Earth, taking 3232 days, or about 8.9 years for a full rotation.
Another name for Lilith is "Black Moon". This offers insight into her significance in the horoscope, where she is interpreted as the unseen feminine aspect of our unconscious mind. Thus Lilith's position in our horoscope tells us about the suppressed shadow-side of our unconscious, and indicates things that are hidden in the shadows, unfulfilled wishes, painful experiences, privation and darkness. Nevertheless, Lilith not only brings death, pain and disaster, but also generates life. Additionally, if the horoscope is for a male, Lilith can point to the woman he fears most or the woman that drives him to despair.
The Black Moon is in Pisces
Pisces, the kingdom of dreams, fantasy, sometimes utopia, far away from daily realities, the sign longs for unlimited horizons. Here Lilith activates the quest for infinity. She may be lived like an attraction for escape, flight. The native does not often know whose gifts are his, how to express them. He is afraid of all his unconscious inner forces. He has no control, moreover he has to adapt to daily life. Other people do not often see his inner troubles. The result may be a chronic disease creating a deep weariness that will oblige to break defenses and lies. Here we also have the medium or channel. It is an ambiguous gift: on a negative point of view, if the native has no mind protection he will be attacked by others negative energies in his unconsciousness, this being mainly seen with a lack of experience. On a positive point of view, the native handles his mediumship and protects himself from others. He has the power to feel the inner part of people, literally to see through their eyes. Here Lilith gives the ability to get information from the akashic memories: inspiration, mystic tendencies, clairvoyance are some of the components of the personality. Hesitation, which is one of Pisces characteristics is showed by a pathological indecisiveness and is one of the problems the native will have to solve on the condition he gets rid of his fantasies, fears or people's domination. Virgo opposite Pisces will oblige the native to "go back" on earth and its daily reality. The earth sign will help to control, to analyze all the "data" the Pisces obtain, to separate fears, emotions, dreams from what is true and can be used in life.
In past lives, the soul might have lived in a context where she was imposed to abandon her own desires, as Pisces also means sacrifice. The soul keeps the memory of a sacrificial behavior that led her to the ruin. It might as well be possible that the soul had lived in a spiritualism environment or was a clairvoyant, both having caused shocks and lack of equilibrium. Today the native tends to escape when the situation appears difficult instead of confronting it. The sleep may become a refuge as well as imagination. In very serious cases we find mental disease. As this parallel universe fascinates him, the native has the opportunity to express his gift in a work bound to psychiatry, psychology, nervous diseases, researches on drugs, coma.
If Lilith is at the very beginning of Pisces, the native has a great intuitive and perceptive ability. This will help him to guide, to teach others, to have a moral or religious authority.
If Lilith is at the very end of Pisces, the native has to clearly define what he wants to live and has to learn independence. This work will be done step by step, each new period starting with Black Moon's transit on its natal position (around 9 years cycle).
Keywords: risk of a real or symbolic imprisonment - tendencies to health problems, escape from reality - search for a "wonderland" - bewitching magnetism - many love affairs - psychic troubles - meeting of pseudo guides - tendencies to nightmares, insomnia - prophecy gift - aura of mystery - wrong spiritual choices - in a feminine chart shows the glamorous woman.

Alternatively, you could have problems recognising boundaries and, in extreme cases, may unwittingly intrude into another's space. Your thinking can be confused or uncertain, and you may experience difficulties making important decisions or communicating clearly to others. Possibly, you could be prone to self-deception, or inclined to avoid facing uncomfortable realities. In certain circumstances, you can be scheming and insincere.
Mercury is quincunx Pluto (0°16'S)
You have the power to be a dynamic and persuasive communicator. Perceptive, you possess psychological insight into the motivations of others and even seem to sense what they are thinking. Whether you can read other people's minds or not isn't the point, others may tend to assume you can. You are keenly observant and able to assess situations quickly and accurately. Your intellect is sharp and penetrating, which gives you the ability to get to the bottom of anything; thus you may be well-suited to investigative and research work. Alternatively, your relations with others will be strained, if you come over as overbearing or intellectually superior and disinterested in their opinions. You can be cynical, extreme in your thinking, unable to compromise and disinclined to take any prisoners when debating or arguing your case.
Mercury is opposition the Ascendant (6°04'S)
You have a keen mind and possibly an above average intelligence. You are sharp-witted and alert to what's happening around you, so much so that you rarely miss a trick. While you enjoy communicating, you may sometimes get tongue-tied or feel inarticulate in comparison to others. Also, you are generally a good conversationalist, being curious about what interests others. Intellectually, you have a questioning mind, coupled with the capability to form your own opinions, and, when sure of your facts, you'll tend to dominate any discussion. Negatively, you can have a tendency to be judgmental or overly critical of people whose views contradict your own, and you may engage in gossip or rumour mongering. Your personal environment is busy most of the time, which is just as well, as you tend to be quite restless and find it nearly impossible to sit still for very long.
Venus is semisquare Mars (1°05'S)
You have a sensual and passionate nature, with a strong need for emotional and sexual experiences. You express your feelings ardently, especially in personal relationships. You have strong desires and can be romantically assertive, even aggressive in certain circumstances. In love, the thrill of the chase is often more stimulating than the outcome. You are drawn to sexually magnetic people who are aware of their own sexuality, and it is possible that you'll form unions based solely on physical attraction. There can be a tendency to seek gratification and then move on. A 'love 'em and leave 'em' attitude is not unknown to people with this planetary pairing. Difficulties in love are possible through flirtatious behaviour or infidelity, obviously.
Venus is square Saturn (4°42'S)
Regarding matters of the heart, you are emotionally cautious and inclined to put practical considerations before romantic desires. You have a tendency to exercise self-control in love, perhaps at the expense of emotional satisfaction and spontaneity. People generally need to earn your trust before you allow them to get too close. Yet, once trust is achieved, you are very loyal and steadfast. Attachments to people older than yourself are possible. In fact, you often find that the maturity of experienced people makes you feel more secure. Alternatively, you can be emotionally cool and indifferent, even hardhearted and cold. There may be difficulties in expressing affection and discomfort with intimacy. You may be inhibited and lack self-confidence in love, resulting in periods of loneliness or forced abstinence. Estrangements and separations in love are possible.
Venus is sextile Neptune (4°18'A)
Good taste, refinement and artistic appreciation or talent is the hallmark of this planetary pairing. You have a keen sense of beauty, coupled with creative imagination and inspiration, and you may show promise in music, dance, drama, poetry, painting or photography. Emotionally, you are highly romantic and inclined to dream and wish for perfect love. In regard to matters of the heart, you are idealistic, a bit ungrounded and susceptible to seducing influences; the outcome of which may be disillusionment or disappointment.
Venus is trine the Midheaven (2°56'A)
You are a warm-hearted and loving individual who possesses the ability to be well liked by others and, in general, you have a good relationship with your family and work colleagues. And, taking most things into consideration, you experience few conflicts between your domestic and professional lives. Your pleasant, helpful and friendly manner enables you to gain popularity and make advantageous connections. You tend to develop a unique sense of style or are fashion conscious, with quite individual tastes and preferences. Status in your career is important to you, and successes are to be found in the creative professions or arts, the beauty or fashion industries, or the diplomatic or public relations sectors.
Mars is opposition the Ascendant (2°10'A)
A strong character, you express an assertive and occasionally forceful personality towards others in the environment. Your manner is direct and frank. You are ambitious for recognition and achieve successes through your own efforts and self-motivation. You are a good organiser and like being in charge of situations. Giving orders or instructions to others comes naturally to you. In general, your physique is strong and hardy and you recover from low-level illnesses or injuries comparatively quickly. You face life's battles head on and are rarely daunted by much at all. Negatively, you can be pushy, argumentative and prepared to resort to bullying tactics to get your own way. Also, a tendency to rush into things, without considering the consequences, can place you in awkward situations. Patience isn't one of your more recognisable traits.
Jupiter is trine Saturn (3°36'S)
A harmonious aspect, such as this, between optimistic and expansive Jupiter and practical and realistic Saturn brings out the best in both planets. You have good common sense, a responsible attitude and wisdom gained through life experience. Successes are likely in business, financial matters and academic work. You are hard working and industrious, but also smart enough to know when to cut back and consolidate. You have the experience to recognise a good deal when you see it, and the patience to let it mature in its own time. Honest and straightforward in your dealings with others, you earn their trust and respect. You are even-tempered, reliable and fair when making decisions or judgements.
Jupiter is square the Midheaven (1°50'A)
Despite being a challenging aspect this planetary combination is of great assistance to you vocationally, as it facilitates your ability to rise to high positions in your career. You have the desire to do well in life and to advance personally and professionally. Others may seek you out for your advice and those in power tend to be favourably disposed towards you. You may do well in areas related to spirituality, publishing, travel, law or education.
Saturn is trine the Moon's North Node (3°07'S)
You have a sense of responsibility towards the important people in your life and can be relied upon to be loyal and dependable. Associations with others of a wide-age difference, either older or younger, are generally harmonious and free from stress or pressure. You enjoy the company of older people for their knowledge and experience and, likewise, you appreciate young people for their fresh outlooks and vitality.
Saturn is semisquare the Ascendant (1°27'S)
You are quite a complex person and your life isn't always easy. Some days you come across as shy or inhibited and other days as authoritarian and controlling. You are extremely practical and take your responsibilities seriously. Possibly, you will have held responsible positions all your life, perhaps even since childhood; e.g. you may have had to look after younger siblings or older relatives for some reason. You are quite self-contained and tend to keep your own counsel, consulting with others only when you have to - or need to. This can make you appear aloof or distant. Sometimes you experience difficulties relating to others, or you just cannot be bothered with the demands of relationships. You may shun company and spend periods in seclusion. It is possible that you may experience periodical bouts of low vitality.
Saturn is quincunx the Midheaven (1°46'S)
You are ambitious for professional success and you will work hard to achieve your goals, however you must appreciate that your career path will not be free of difficulties and obstacles. At times, you feel the odds are stacked against you and that others get preference over you from those in authority. If faced with difficult times, you should never give up, because success is cyclical and your turn comes in time, as long as you work hard enough. A parent may disapprove of your chosen career, or you may feel that you are unable to live up to their expectations. The key to this aspect, is to clarify what your aspirations are and to live your life according to your own standards.
Uranus is sextile the Moon's North Node (4°47'A)
You either prefer the company of unusual and original people, or you come across to others as unconventional and eccentric yourself. You enjoy change and variety with regard to your associations, and you can be inclined to make and break contacts suddenly and unexpectedly. When meeting new people, you tend to assess their character intuitively and quickly.
Neptune is sextile Pluto (1°06'A)
Neptune and Pluto are the solar system's slowest moving planets, thus aspects between them last for a great number of years and consequently their effects are less personal and more collective. Since 1940 and continuing until about 2040 they are in sextile aspect to each other. The major effect of this is to accentuate spiritual awareness and development, en masse. You are part of a generation that is intent on exploring and refining the inner aspect of life and consciousness itself. You will be aware of a universal interest in metaphysical subjects, clairvoyance and psychical research.
Neptune is opposition the Midheaven (7°14'A)
Uncertainty and confusion regarding your aims and aspirations is a recurring theme throughout your life and you may find that lasting professional recognition eludes you. Chances are that you will expend a great deal of energy on a career that doesn't bring the rewards you expect for your efforts. There will be many periods in your life when you question what you are doing and where you are going. You may suffer from bouts of insecurity and self-doubt, and often feel that you're not achieving your potential. In fact, if you're honest with yourself, you might not even be sure of what your potential is.
SUMMARY:
Chapter 1: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others
Sagittarius Rising:
High-spirited, enthusiastic, and exuberant, you love adventure, change, exploring new territory, and are not happy confined to the same safe, familiar, secure little world all the time. You have a strong restlessness and yearning for something greater than anything you've yet experienced, and you often live in your dreams and visions for the future. You tend to believe that the grass is greener somewhere else and you like to keep moving, either literally or figuratively. Idealistic and optimistic, you always expect something better ahead. You love to have a goal, something to aim for, but once you achieve it you are on to something else. You are ever on the lookout for new opportunities and you are a gambler, willing to take risks and to break new ground. The possibility of discovering something new is what makes life interesting for you. You have great faith in life and bounce back quickly from disappointment and failure.
Freedom-loving and independent, you cannot tolerate being caged for very long, and friends and loved ones must respect your need for freedom of movement. Binding commitments and responsibilities often weigh heavily upon you and you may resist "growing up" and taking on the limitations of adult life.
You are friendly and outgoing and have a great sense of fun and playfulness. You are also philosophically minded and often quite outspoken about your convictions and beliefs. Sometimes you get carried away with your enthusiasm of the moment and you tend to exaggerate. You are often a big talker, full of big promises, and you are usually pretty convincing. You do everything in a big way, a generous way. You like to have the best, and you heartily dislike stinginess, littleness, or pettiness. Your vision is always large. You are able to perceive the big picture, general patterns and principles, and are well suited to politics, business, higher education or religion.
Other people see you as a good sport and a good friend, but one who is not always consistent and dependable. You may also be seen as a wise person since you do not get bogged down in pettiness and trivialities, and are able to communicate a larger way of looking at situations, one that opens up new potentials. You are a person who believes in miracles, grace, or just plain good luck, someone who never gives up on life, and you inspire and encourage others to keep looking forward.
Chapter 2: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation
Sun in Capricorn:
Serious, disciplined, and quietly ambitious, you are driven to prove yourself and to achieve material accomplishments and success. Your work, your position in the world, and your contributions to society are very important to you. You will persevere through enormous hardship and frustration in order to reach a goal you have set for yourself, and you often sacrifice much in the area of personal relationships and home life in order to do so.
You have a thoughtful, quiet, and self-contained disposition and do not readily show your inner feelings and needs. You seem to be always in control, capable, efficient, and strong. You are often the person in the family or group who is given more responsibility (and more work) than the others. You are highly conscientious and even as a child you possessed a maturity, soberness, and worldly wisdom that was most unchildlike.
You are basically a pragmatic realist, and though you may have all sorts of dreams, ideals and colorful theories, you feel that the ultimate test of a concept is its practical usefulness. You have an innate shrewdness and business sense, and there is a bit of the cynic in you as well.
You are clear-headed, detached and objective, and are not swayed by emotional dramatics. Often you are authoritarian - strictly fair, but without mercy. You have a great respect for tradition and even if you do not agree with certain laws, you will abide by them or work to change them, but never flagrantly disregard them. Careful and conservative, you play by the rules.
You are subtle, understated, quiet, deep, not easy to know intimately, and never superficial. You are a modest person and sometimes overly self-critical. Giving yourself (and others) permission to feel, to play, to be spontaneous and silly, and to be weak and vulnerable sometimes, isn't easy for you.
Your strong points are your depth and thoroughness, patience, tenacity, and faithfulness. Your faults are a tendency to be rigid and inflexible, and too serious.
Sun in 1st house:
You have a clear sense of yourself and therefore convey a strong impression to others of who you are and what you want. Assertive and self-motivated, you can be a leader - one whom others look to for direction - but you compete and often clash with other strong individuals. You feel a need to be in control of your own life and you can be too self-involved, too immersed in your own interests, and oblivious to others at times.
Sun Conjunct Jupiter:
You are blessed with abundant optimism, self-confidence, and cheerful generosity. Your good will and friendliness win you many allies. You also have grand visions and aspirations, and the desire to succeed in life in a big way. You expect the best, and usually get it.
Sun Trine Saturn:
Realistic and practical, you set goals for yourself that are modest enough for you to actually achieve. You are able to tackle long, difficult projects and see them through, for you possess self-discipline, concentration, and perseverance. You also have a strong sense of responsibility and are very conscientious in fulfilling your obligations. Often you do things because you feel it is expected of you.
Chapter 3: Mental Interests and Abilities
Mercury in Capricorn:
Clear, objective, and realistic, you are unimpressed by exaggerated claims or promises. You insist upon being shown facts to back up any statement you hear, and your natural skepticism often borders on cynicism. You approach problems clearly and rationally and maintain your poise and objectivity even in the midst of critical situations. Anyone seeking your advice is certain to get an unemotional and unbiased assessment of their situation, and you therefore make a good arbitrator or judge. You are thorough, conscientious, and disciplined in your thinking, and have an aptitude for business, organization, and administration. You are also a good strategist, and will plan and patiently follow a realistic course which will lead to your eventual success. Serious-minded and studious, you enjoy quiet time alone for thinking or reading.
Mercury in 1st house:
You are quite verbal and communicative and eager to get your own ideas and opinions across to others. You say what is on your mind. Others see you as a lively, intelligent person, and perhaps something of a chatterbox at times.
Mercury Conjunct Jupiter:
You enjoy philosophical speculation and theorizing about abstract ideas and concepts. You are interested in the broad view, universal principles and systems, seeing connecting relationships and patterns, and seeing the whole picture rather than its component parts. You have a great respect and thirst for knowledge and education, and are the proverbial "perpetual student". You also have a talent for teaching and sharing your knowledge, and as a teacher you present yourself as a fellow participant in the ongoing quest for understanding rather than as an authority.
You may become involved in television, publishing, or other fields that involve sharing ideas with large groups of people. You excel in areas that require long-range planning and foresight, and can therefore be very successful in business, but you are rather sloppy and haphazard when it comes to implementing your ideas in a concrete way. You should leave it to someone else to take care of the details. Travel or long-distance contacts and communications will play a large role in your life and work.
Mercury Square Neptune:
Your mind is highly imaginative and creative and you possess dramatic, artistic, or musical abilities. As a child, you enjoyed daydreaming, fantasizing, pretending, and probably lived in "your own little world" a good deal. You perceive things which are not obvious to other people and you have an uncanny ability to "read" people and situations without being told anything about them. However, you must learn to discriminate between a true psychic perception and your imagination. Learning to discipline and focus your mind is necessary if you wish to use all of your creative potential. Otherwise, you could be simply a dreamer.
Communication with others is difficult for you because you often find words frustrating and inadequate to express your experiences and perceptions. Also, you may purposefully mystify or deceive others.
Chapter 4: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance
Moon in Sagittarius:
Open and generous, you enjoy a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and you thrive on sociability and fellowship. You are adventurous, playful, freedom-loving, and always ready for a good time. You rarely allow obstacles or difficulties to keep you down, for no matter how bleak the past or present, you always expect a better, brighter future. In fact, you are uncomfortable with your own or other people's problems and emotional pain. You often try to "cheer up" or offer philosophical advice to those who are hurting, but unwittingly you avoid or ignore the emotions involved.
Friendship means a great deal to you, perhaps even more than love or romance. For you to be happy, your mate must be your best friend and encourage your aspirations and ideals. You also need a great deal of emotional freedom and mobility.
Moon in 12th house:
Your own feelings and emotions are something of an enigma to you, and it is often difficult for you to share with others what you are feeling.
You frequently withdraw from contact with the world, and need a healing, peaceful environment in order to blossom and come out of yourself.
You identify with the oppressed, disenfranchised or underdog in any situation and want to help them or care for them in some way.
Moon Conjunct Venus:
No matter how you appear on the surface, you have a very soft heart and others can always appeal to your sympathetic, affectionate side. You especially care about the needs of children, mothers, and families, and you want a love partner who values marriage, home, and family as much as you do. Unkindness or harshness offends you very much.
Moon Trine Pluto:
You enjoy emotional intensity and are attracted to the mysterious, the unknown, and to dangerous or challenging experiences which draw on all of your inner resources. You are able to handle an emotional crisis very well, and you are interested in the deep roots of emotional problems and how to cure them. You insist on bringing feelings between people out into the open, for you want real closeness and intimacy with others, without barriers or secrets.
Moon Sextile Neptune:
The beauty and harmony of your surroundings has a very powerful effect on your emotions. You are very sensitive and cannot stand to be in an atmosphere where there is discord or dissonance. Gentle, kindhearted, and peace-loving, you will give or sacrifice much in order to avoid a fight and to "make everyone happy".
Venus in Sagittarius:
In love, you seek companionship and friendship with someone who is fun-loving, playful, and open to adventure and new experiences. You enjoy traveling together, meeting new people, making new friends. Honeymooning in a distant place appeals to you, and you are also attracted to foreigners or someone with a totally different background than yourself. You support your partner in taking risks and making positive changes, rather than preserving the status quo. You also very much want a partner who will encourage your own aspirations and dreams. It is very important to you that you have a spiritual or intellectual rapport with your love partner, perhaps more important than the emotional/physical relationship. You are not especially sentimental and your love partner may feel that you are too casual and not serious or romantic enough.
Venus in 12th house:
You often hide your affection, or find your feelings difficult to express or get across to the person you love. Being openly affectionate and trusting often doesn't seem safe to you. You may feel your love won't be appreciated or reciprocated. You may get involved in secret love affairs or fall in love with a person who is quite unavailable to you. Love and sacrifice often seem to go hand in hand for you - having to give something up to be with the one you love, or having to relinquish some person or some aspect of an important love relationship.
Venus Square Saturn:
You are serious and find it difficult to enjoy yourself in a lighthearted, open and playful way with others. You rarely do something purely for pleasure, and can be very close-fisted and parsimonious. Perhaps due to painful separations in your early life, you are very cautious about becoming close to people and sharing your feelings. Though you crave love and affection, intimacy is difficult for you. You may become romantically involved with people who do not value you or treat you well. You need to learn to love and value yourself before you will find happiness in love.
Chapter 5: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals
Mars in Capricorn:
You are serious about your ambitions, and disciplined, dedicated, and tenacious in pursuing your objectives. Your drive and energy are directed toward practical material accomplishment and achieving concrete results. You also strive to be in a position of authority and social influence; you enjoy being the person who is in command.
You are hard-working and capable of forgoing immediate comfort in order to achieve your long-range goals. You can easily become a workaholic and are very responsible and conscientious about doing a thorough job.
Realistic and pragmatic, you are an excellent strategist. You attain success by formulating a conservative and workable plan and following through with it. You are not a gambler when it comes to attaining your goals; you depend on your own efforts and perseverance rather good fortune. You have a natural shrewdness and instinct for business or organizational management.
Mars in 2nd house:
You often buy things on impulse and you can be reckless with your material resources and money. You have certain possessions that you are extremely attached to and possessive of.
Chapter 6: Other Influences
Jupiter in Capricorn:
You have an innate shrewdness, and the ability to develop a clear strategy and follow it carefully in order to reach your goals. You also have a natural sense of order, structure, and self-discipline. You are likely to excel, both because you are ambitious and because it is very important to you to do a professional job, no matter what field you are in, or how humble the task.
Jupiter in 1st house:
You have an optimistic outlook on life and to others you appear jovial, confident, and expansive. You do what you can to be encouraging and helpful to other people, and your generosity and lack of pettiness makes you very well-liked.
Because you see yourself as a lucky person, you may feel that you can "get away with anything", without negative consequences. You tend to go to excess and have little sense of moderation (or even caution, at times).
Jupiter Trine Saturn:
You have a good balance between idealism, optimism, and vision for the future on one hand and a realistic sense of what can actually be achieved on the other hand. Your judgment and business sense are usually quite good. You possess patience and the ability to accept limitation and frustration on the way to your goals.
Older, more experienced individuals or mentors are likely to play a significant and beneficial role in your life.
Saturn in Virgo:
You have a penchant for order and precision, and an almost compulsive attention to detail. You are often hypercritical and can be such a demanding perfectionist that you discourage yourself or others from even attempting something that won't be done exactly the way you know it should be done.
You frequently over analyze or pick things apart mentally. You may be something of a hypochondriac also. You must learn that you do not have to rationally understand everything in order for it to be valid, and also to relax your unnecessarily high or strict standards.
Saturn in 9th house:
Your attitude toward religion, philosophy, and politics is very conservative and possibly narrow or rigid. On the one hand, you may believe in nothing that is speculative or intangible, requiring proof for any idea presented to you. Each idea is thoroughly and systematically examined. On the other hand, you may tenaciously cling to your grand philosophical or metaphysical beliefs and opinions, refusing to modify them or to be open and receptive to others' insights and perspectives.
Your overall outlook on life is serious, and you may feel that life or God will punish you if you do not watch your step!
Uranus in Gemini:
You are part of a 7 year group of people who are progressive and creative thinkers. Academic achievement is high and academic standards are higher with your age group than with others. You are a curious and inquisitive bunch, and many discoveries and clever insights are brought forth from your age group. The love of learning never dies with your age group, and your curiosity and inquisitiveness does not wane in later life, as is common with others.
Uranus in 7th house:
You need a lot of freedom in your close one-to-one relationships and you may experiment with nontraditional forms of relationships. You rebel against conventions and restrictions when it comes to marriage or personal relationships, and you're likely to choose a highly unusual, eccentric, or unconventional partner.
Neptune in Libra:
You are part of a 14 year group of people who have a very idealistic sense of brotherhood and universal cooperation, which, among other things, fostered the peace and freedom movement. Your age group is also interested in the spiritual philosophy and ideals of other cultures, and is not at all dogmatic in its approach to religion. You incorporate the approaches of other religions. Your age group tends to have an eclectic approach to religion, utilizing elements from many religious perspectives (e.g. Eastern and Western), and finds it difficult to follow traditionally defined religious practices.
A gullibility and an unwillingness to be decisive and judgmental inclines your age group to be easily deceived, and consequently many of the well-intended ideals and goals are frustrated by a lack of clear purpose and direction.
Neptune in 10th house:
You are a very idealistic person, and you want to see your ideals, hopes, and dreams made concrete and real in the everyday world. You are driven to put your ideals into action.
When young you may be rather aimless or confused about your place in the world. In early adult life it is likely that you struggle to find ways to express your imagination, fantasies, and ideals in your career. Work that involves compassionate service (such as medicine or the ministry) may be your calling. If you lack personal integrity and honesty, you quickly go to the opposite extreme and you can con others through dishonesty and trickery. Music, art, film-making or entertainment are also areas in which you are well-suited.
Neptune Sextile Pluto:
The entire generation to which you belong has tremendous opportunities for spiritual rebirth and awakening. This will not be forced upon you or precipitated by unavoidable events, rather it comes from an inner yearning and a natural propensity to seek the depths.
Pluto in Leo:
You are part of a 20 year period that is often referred to as the "ME" generation, a generation that has a very proud and self-reliant attitude. You are a generation that is very concerned with self-development and personal integrity. Women's rights and minority rights are issues that your generation has fostered and they reflect your concern with individual respect, integrity, and honor. Your age group has a deeply felt sense that each person has an equal right and opportunity to fully develop his or her inner potential.
However, your group also finds it difficult to be part of a team and a strong egotism makes group efforts difficult; you tend to see the individual as more important than the group. You also defy authority and often feel that no one has the right to tell you what to do. The strong movement to refuse drafting into the military is one example of your age group's strong sense of individual rights and freedom.
Your age group has popularized the idea of self-development, and has contributed a great deal to the development of individual potential as well as human rights. However, there is also a tendency to be rather self-centered; others may wonder how you can spend so much time developing yourselves and have so little time to contribute to your families!
The interest in personal development also sometimes manifests as a fascination with particular individuals and a great deal of hero worship. Every generation, of course, has lots of idols, but your generation is particularly prone to needing a specific individual to represent and embody an idea or feeling, and to serve as a focal point of interest. Perhaps the most extreme example of this is the concept of the guru that was popularized by your age group.
Pluto in 8th house:
You are a person of great depth and have a deep interest in the hidden or darker side of life. Issues and experiences others shun, you are drawn to and compelled to examine. The use and misuse of personal, social, and political power intrigues you. Death is also an area you are fascinated with and may explore in depth. You may have many experiences in which you are forced to burn your bridges and start over again.
PLUTO SOFT ASPECT MOON
You enjoy emotional intensity and are attracted to the mysterious, the unknown, and to dangerous or challenging experiences which draw on all of your inner resources. You are able to handle an emotional crisis very well, and you are interested in the deep roots of emotional problems and how to cure them. You insist on bringing feelings between people out into the open, for you want real closeness and intimacy with others, without barriers or secrets.
PLUTO SOFT ASPECT NEPTUNE
The entire generation to which you belong has tremendous opportunities for spiritual rebirth and awakening. This will not be forced upon you or precipitated by unavoidable events, rather it comes from an inner yearning and a natural propensity to seek the depths.

HARMONIC HIGHLIGHTS
Jupiter 32nd harmonic (15/32) Uranus, very strong (Orb: 0 Deg 06 Min):
You are an enterprising person and you may be an entrepreneur or simply a very progressive person who is inspired by exciting ideas and new possibilities. Your enthusiasm and progressive tendency is an inner quality that does not necessarily always manifest owtwardly, but it is evident in the way you embrace positive opportunites and your contagious enthusiasm for making meaningful improvements and advances in any area that you become involved in. Your optimism and confidence draw positive circumtances to you.
Moon 24th harmonic (11/24) Uranus, very strong (Orb: 0 Deg 05 Min):
You become impatient, bored, and a bit rebellious if your daily routine is too repetitive or restrictive. You want to break the monotony with some childish antics or a more free-spirited approach. Most likely you prefer casual dress and you prefer an environment where people are encouraged to be creative, comfortable, and innovative rather than restricted by too many rules and regulations.
Jupiter 5th harmonic (biquintile) Pluto, very strong (Orb: 0 Deg 38 Min):
You have an innate sense of social sophistication and culture, and you have a taste for success that attracts you to participate in a life style of success and high achievement.
Mars 7th harmonic (triseptile) Uranus, very strong (Orb: 0 Deg 24 Min):
You are a dynamic person, but also controlled and disciplined. Metaphorically speaking, you are a pugilist. You can succeed in life by training, disciplining and harnessing wild or aggressive energies. You may enjoy martial arts or more gentle disciplines like hatha yoga. If you are very passive and shy, you may find that massage or exercises are needed to unblock and loosen tightness and cramping of your energy flow, and to liberate your dynamic energies, which otherwise can become constricted through habit and lack of use.
Mars 16th harmonic (7/16) Pluto, strong (Orb: 0 Deg 37 Min):
Those who do not know you well do not realize the intensity, devotion, and dedication that you pour into your work. You are not able to simply follow external rules and regulations to meet a work schedule. You need to work from your heart with a sense of inner mission and purpose. You must choose a career path that is meaningful to you and holds your attention, otherwise you will feel greatly dissatisfied and unfulfilled.
Jupiter 32nd harmonic (11/32) Saturn, strong (Orb: 0 Deg 17 Min):
You avoid wild speculation and gambling and you are quick to note inadequacies of people or things that are highly acclaimed but you regard as superficial or mediocre.
Saturn 16th harmonic (3/16) Uranus, strong (Orb: 0 Deg 23 Min):
You have an independent streak and you are self-willed. You feel driven to follow your own conscience and convictions and you frequently find that you must formulate your own set of rules because you are not always in agreement with the societal norms.
Mars 24th harmonic (1/24) Jupiter, strong (Orb: 0 Deg 15 Min):
You have a constructive dynamism and drive that keeps pushing you forward. You are not content with a comfortable level of success, but instead strive for a bigger or better situation. Your energetic, self-motivated, aggressive pursuit of goals enables you to become very successful. You also have an ability to push for greater success without feeling unduly stressed or overwhelmed by the undertaking, and this also helps you achieve your goals. Not matter what you achieve, you are never completely satisfied, as you visualize the next levels of advancement just as you reach whatever goals you had previously.
Moon 9th harmonic (novile) Mars, strong (Orb: 1 Deg 01 Min):
You're a bit of an activist. You are quickly angered by unresponsive organizations, governments, and communities. You have the power and drive to motivate people for a cause.
Saturn 9th harmonic (novile) Neptune, strong (Orb: 1 Deg 01 Min):
You are compassionate and you strive to help people adhere to basic spiritual values or principles that will give meaning and purpose to their lives. You have a strong attunement to sound religious, ethical, or spiritual values that benefit you and could benefit others too.
Venus semisextile Jupiter, strong (Orb: 0 Deg 36 Min):
Like most people, you appreciate things that are made with quality, and prosperity and financial well-being are important to you. Your appreciation of good quality and prosperity motivates you to grow and develop, to meet new people, and to have an active life style.
Sun 16th harmonic (1/16) Moon (Orb: 0 Deg 52 Min):
You have a strong inner drive and a need to achieve that may not be evident to others. You feel a sense that you can always do better and improve, and this propels you forward.
Sun 9th harmonic (binovile) Neptune (Orb: 1 Deg 35 Min):
You are tolerant, accepting, inclined to be a pacifist at times, and you may become active in fighting bigotry and prejudice. Your high tolerance for diversity can also at times make you an easy victim of those whose motives are low, and in your later years you may react to your own tolerant attitude by being skeptical or paranoid about certain types of people and situations, and even develop a few biases of your own.

The Myth
The goddess Aphrodite (in Roman mythology, Venus), jealous of the beauty of a mortal woman named Psyche, asked her son Eros (in Roman mythology, Cupid) to use his golden arrows to cause Psyche to fall in love with the ugliest man on earth. Eros agreed but then fell in love with Psyche on his own, or by accidentally pricking himself with a golden arrow.
When all continued to admire and praise Psyche's beauty but none desired her as a wife, Psyche's parents consulted an oracle which told them to leave Psyche on the nearest mountain, for her beauty was so great that she was meant for a god. So it was done. But then Zephyrus, the west wind, carried Psyche away to a fair valley and a magnificent palace where she was attended by invisible servants until night fell and in the darkness of night the promised bridegroom arrived and the marriage was consummated. Eros visited her every night and they had sex; he demanded only that she never light any lamps because he did not want her to know who he was.
Eros even allowed Zephyrus to take Psyche back to her sisters and bring all three down to the palace during the day, only warning that Psyche should not listen to any argument that she should try to discover his true form. The two jealous sisters told Psyche, then pregnant with Eros' child, that rumor was that she had married a great and terrible serpent who would devour her and her unborn child when her time came for it to be fed. They urged Psyche to conceal a knife and oil lamp in the bedchamber, to wait till her husband was asleep, and then to light the lamp and slay him at once if it was as they said. Psyche sadly followed their advice. In the light of the lamp Psyche recognized the fair form on the bed as the god Eros himself, and cursing her folly, turned to run, but a drop of oil fell from Psyche's lamp and onto Eros' chest and he awoke, then fled, causing Psyche to mourn her stupidity.
The god Pan, who was nearby, advised Psyche to seek to regain Eros' love through service. Psyche returned to her old home and told her two, jealous, elder sisters what had happened; they rejoiced secretly while "comforting" her and each separately returned to the top of the peak, hoping that Eros would pick them instead, but this time Zephyrus did not bear them and they fell to their deaths at the base of the mountain.
Psyche searched far and wide for her lover, finally stumbling into a temple to Demeter (in Roman mythology, Ceres) where all was in slovenly disarray. As Psyche was sorting and clearing, Demeter appeared, but refused any help but advice, saying Psyche must call directly on Aphrodite, the jealous shrew that caused all the problems in the first place. Psyche next called on Hera (in Roman mythology, Juno) in her temple, but Hera, superior as always, said the same. So Psyche found a temple to Aphrodite and entered it. Aphrodite ordered Psyche to separate all the grains in a large basket of mixed kinds before nightfall. An ant took pity on Psyche and with its ant companions separated the grains for her.
Aphrodite was outraged at her success and told her to go to a field where golden sheep grazed and get some golden wool. A river-god told Psyche that the sheep were vicious and strong and would kill her, but if she waited until noontime, the sheep would go to the shade on the other side of the field and sleep; she could pick the wool that stuck to the branches and bark of the trees. Aphrodite next asked for water from the Styx and Cocytus flowing from a cleft that was impossible for a mortal to attain and was also guarded by great serpents. This time an eagle performed the task for Psyche. Aphrodite, outraged at Psyche's survival, claimed that the stress of caring for her son, made depressed and ill as a result of Psyche's unfaithfulness, had caused her to lose some of her beauty. Psyche was to go to the Underworld and ask Persephone, the queen of the Underworld, for a bit of her beauty in a box that Aphrodite gave to Psyche. Psyche decided that the quickest way to the Underworld would be to throw herself off some high place and die and so she climbed to the top of a tower. But the tower itself spoke to her and told her the route through Tanaerum that would allow her to enter the Underworld alive and return again, as well as telling her how to get by Cerberus by throwing him a sop and Charon by paying him an obol, how to avoid other dangers on the way there and back, and most importantly to eat of no food whatsoever; for otherwise she would dwell forever in the Underworld. Psyche followed the orders explicitly and ate nothing while beneath the earth.
However when Psyche had got out of the Underworld, she decided to open the box and take a little bit of the beauty for herself. Inside, she could see no beauty; instead an infernal sleep arose from the box and overcame her. Eros, who had forgiven Psyche, flew to her, wiped the sleep from her face, put it back in the box, and sent her back on her way. Then Eros flew to Mount Olympus and begged Zeus to aid them. Zeus called a full and formal council of the gods, and declared it was his will that Eros might marry Psyche. Zeus then had Psyche fetched to Mount Olympus, and gave her a drink made from Ambrosia, granting her immortality. Although some say their daughter was named Bliss, and some say she was named Delight (in Roman mythology she was named Volupta, which can mean either), the meaning of the name was intended to be joyful. Begrudgingly, Aphrodite and Psyche forgave each other.

The Lovers Eros: Capacity for vitality and passion Psyche: Capacity to be psychically sensitive to another person
Eros represents the principle of passionate desire. In chart analysis Eros serves as indicator of your passion, sexual attraction, sexual preferences and vital energy. Your Eros personality is marked by the need to continuously recrete the excitement of falling in love and being in love. Stressful placements of Eros in the chart may describe potential difficulties in sexual potency, and activity, frustrated passion, depletion of vital force, or obsessive-compulsive attitudes towards love until the person learns to channel the passion positively.
Eros can shed some light on some of our erotic turn-ons. In mythology, Eros was the god of sexual love and desire. He was considered irresistible. In Roman mythology, Eros was known as Cupid. "In Greek art Eros was depicted as a winged youth, slight but beautiful, often with eyes covered to symbolize the blindness of love. Sometimes he carried a flower, but more commonly the silver bow and arrows, with which he shot darts of desire into the bosoms of gods and men." (Encarta Encyclopedia)
Eros overpowers the mind with love and sex. Eros represents sexual objectification, passion and desire, and creativity. By studying the placements of Eros by sign, we can better integrate the diverse needs and drives of this body. In an archetypal sense, the signs have a distinct way of relating to both inner and outer experiences and acknowledging those distinctions is a step towards becoming more complete.

Your Eros is in Sagittarius Imagine, if you can, silver leaves waving above a pool of gold filled with singing fishes. Twin moons in an alien sky. If you like, I'll show them to you and they will be, I promise you, the dullest part of the journey. Come with me and I will show you sights that you have never dreamed of. Or stay behind, and regret it until your dying day...--William Hartnell as Doctor Who
1° Sagittarius denotes one who seeks to help others to extend their experience. This degree may have something to do with distance or with telescopes and astronomy. Eros in Sagittarius says, "expand my horizons and explore the unknown with me!" This placement of Eros needs widespread goals for the future and the space, energy and enthusiasm to live them out. Spontaneous, exuberant, adventurous and fickle, Eros here prefers a lively and challenging experience with the beloved, one that will take him to the limitless corners of the universe. If someone is going to be with Eros in Sagittarius, they best get ready to soar.
This third FIRE sign has enormous sexual energy and will become bored if the relationship does not develop into broader and richer potentials, or offer new horizons. Travel is his watchword and that does not necessarily mean physically jumping on a plane and heading for a distant culture. The travel Sagittarius has in mind involves the exploration of any previously unknown realm. This includes symbolic journeys through intellectual concepts, philosophical ideas, spiritual beliefs and artistic creations.
These lovers have an enthusiastic and exuberant appeal. Sex is meant to be fun for Eros in Sagittarius, and some roughhousing and plenty of hearty laughs are turn-ons. Sexuality is sometimes viewed as if it were a sport by these people. They may surprise you with a very open and almost innocent attitude toward sex and intimacy. Sex is a bit of a game, and how this attitude is received will depend a lot on the audience! There can be a bit of an addiction to the chase, and avoidance of intimacy when it feels restricting in any way. Tenderness and romance are not the kinds of expressions that come as easily to these lovers. Laughter and fun are aphrodisiacs for this position of Eros. Sexual exploration and freedom are important, as well as a need for sexual honesty—sex without the frills and trappings that these lovers may find to be unnatural and even dishonest. Eros in Sagittarius can show up as passion for knowledge, hunger for new experiences, and a love of travel and exploring new lands and cultures.

Eros in the 12th HouseIt is some solemn secret, surely, that you enshroud in mystery. --Aeschylus
The twelfth house is a place of mystery. Isabel Hickey called it the house of drawn shades, a region where we must serve or suffer. Traditionally it rules secret enemies, institutions such as prisons, hospitals and asylums and other places of generalized pain and suffering, hidden activities, exile and seclusion.
Sometimes Eros here awakens through injury, suffering or confinement. The case of the doctor and patient, alcoholic and counselor, or even bereaved brother and widow come to mind. There can even be an erotic relationship between criminal and the officer of the law, as in the archetypal relationship between the brilliant detective Sherlock Holmes and his equally genius archenemy, Professor Moriarty. These kinds of unions make short work of the traditionally acceptable and they may embody an extreme bitterness, yet their potential for transform is infinite. The very taboo and suffering quality seems to make them all the more potent.

Psyche
Psyche represents the principle of being psychically attuned and bonded to another human being. Astrologically, Psyche is the higher octave of Venus, expressing a refinement of personal love and psychically attuned to another.
Through following the path of Psyche, conscious relationship provides a path to spiritual illumination. Psyche's challenges depict the Soul's journey from mortality to divinity, Psyche successfully transformed her earthly nature into that of a deity so that she can be with Eros. Together, Eros and Psyche symbolize Soul-mate union.
In Chart analysis, a prominent Psyche symbolizes the capacity for psychic sensitivity to the mind and feelings of another person. This heightened awareness can produce a yearning for mystic, soul-mate union. Stressful placements of Psyche can indicate a total lack of sensitivity to others, a blocked psychic awareness or the inability to enter personal relationships.
Because of their need for deep, intuitive communication, Psyche individuals may often decline to enter into superficial or short-term relationships. Thus they may have many admirers, but remain essentially alone.

In Astrology, every planet is connected with certain “functions.”
The Sun: Your ego, your basic character. What you are at heart. How you relate to men in general, especially the father. If the Sun is strongly placed in your horoscope, you will tend to be outgoing, authoritative, maybe even a bit theatrical, and you will be more likely to seek attention. The Sun rules the sign of Leo.
The Moon: Your instincts, habit patterns, and unconscious drives. What kind of home you prefer. How you relate to women in general, especially the mother. If the Moon is strongly placed in your horoscope, mood swings tend to be more pronounced and you will be more likely to consciously make decisions on the basis of hunches or feeling. The Moon rules the sign of Cancer.
Mercury: Your ability to think, communicate, and gather information. If Mercury is strongly placed in your horoscope, you will have an increased need for communication and variety. You are more likely than most people to spend a lot of time on the phone. Mercury rules the signs of Gemini and Virgo.
Venus: Your ability to express affection. Artistic taste. Love, possessions, and happiness. People with Venus strongly placed in their horoscopes are more likely to be considered charming and they will tend to be strongly attracted to the arts. Venus rules the signs of Libra and Taurus.
Mars: Aggression and energy. If Mars is strongly placed in your horoscope, you will tend to be active, energetic, assertive, even aggressive. Mars rules the sign of Aries.
Jupiter: Your ability to grasp general principles, as opposed to the specific sense data of Mercury. It also charts our optimism. The sign position of Jupiter shows where we feel most safe and secure and can therefore take advantage of opportunity. This is the quality that is frequently referred to as “good luck”, but is really just “nothing ventured, nothing gained”. Jupiter rules the sign of Sagittarius.
Saturn: Caution and fear, contraction. Also ambition and determination. Without the obstacles of Saturn, we would never grow. Saturn is strongly placed in the horoscopes of doctors, research scientists, and business people. The sign position shows what we need to feel safe and secure, and what we fear that we will never have enough of. Since this is where we tend to be fearful, we become nervous and tend to “mess up”, or never try at all. This is the quality that frequently comes across as “bad luck”. Saturn rules the sign of Capricorn.
Uranus: Your originality and drive for freedom. This is the “Rebel” planet. It opposes the established order simply because it is an established order. Besides, it thinks it can do a better job. When Uranus is strong in the horoscope, we get people who are considered geniuses, eccentrics, cranks, or insane by the society they live in. These people have a strong tendency to shock and upset others, even when they don’t seem to want to. Examples are Isadora Duncan and Lenny Bruce. Politicians with Uranus strongly placed tend to overthrow the “establishment” only to build a new, frequently more oppressive order. Don’t vote for them! As an example, take a look at the horoscope of Adolph Hitler.
Uranus rules the sign of Aquarius.
Neptune: Where we see the world through “rose-colored glasses”. Where we see what we want to see. This is the planet of imagination as well as illusion. If Neptune is strongly placed in the horoscope, the person is most likely to be considered imaginative and sensitive. Negatively, there is a potential for substance abuse. Once more, I must emphasize that the whole horoscope must be analyzed before jumping to conclusions. Neptune rules the sign of Pisces.
Pluto: Sex, death, and regeneration. Extremes. Where we tend to pull out all the stops and never compromise. Pluto strongly placed in your horoscope generally means you are a person not to be messed with. Pluto rules the sign of Scorpio.
Signs affect HOW a planet operates. HOUSES show WHERE planets are working, in WHAT AREA of your life they are having an effect. Houses have no special names to memorize. They are simply numbered one through twelve, and each house has similarities to its corresponding sign. For instance, sign number five, Leo, is the SIGN of romance and creativity in general. In your horoscope, HOUSE number five shows in particular what your romantic life is like. Astrologers probably get asked more about this house than any other.
First House: This begins with the Ascending Sign (also called the Rising Sign) at the left side of the horoscope wheel. This house shows your outward and superficial traits. It is what people see when they first meet you, as opposed to the Sun-Sign which shows your inner traits. This house corresponds to the 1st sign, Aries, which is the sign of new beginnings.
Second House: Money and possessions. But it goes beyond these. The second house also shows the VALUE you place on things, including yourself, so it includes your sense of self-worth. This house corresponds to the 2nd sign, Taurus, which is the sign of material goods.
Third House: Communications, and one’s style of communicating, the "lower mind" (the ability to perceive facts and communicate them), short journeys, brothers and sisters, neighbors, and anything within arms reach. This house corresponds to the 3rd sign, Gemini, the sign of communications.
Fourth House: Your home, the domestic environment in general, your early years, and the parent of lesser influence, usually the father. I’m frequently asked whether the early environment has more influence than the horoscope. My answer has always been that the formative years are shown by the 4th house. This house also shows what we become during the last third of our life. The older we get, the more we become like the sign and the planets in our 4th house. This house corresponds to the 4th sign, Cancer, sign of the home. It is also the only house where the correspondence breaks down a bit. Cancer is the sign of motherhood, but the 4th house usually indicates the father.
Fifth House: Romance and children (there is a connection), creativity, gambling and speculation, hobbies, sports, fun and games. This house corresponds to the 5th sign, Leo, sign of romance, creativity, and children.
Sixth House: Work and service, both given and received. This is not career (ruled by the 10th house) but rather your style and quality of work. It also shows health matters. This house corresponds to the 6th sign, Virgo, sign of work, service, and health.
Seventh House: Marriage and partnership. Any time you approach anyone else as an equal, you are using your 7th house, so it rules more than marriage and business partners. It rules open enemies as well. It may seem contradictory for marriage and open enemies to be shown by the same area of the horoscope, but if that’s what you think, you probably have never been married. This house corresponds to the 7th sign, Libra (not that terrible movie with Demi Moore), sign of partnership.
Eighth House: Sex, death, rebirth (in the sense of regeneration). Since this is opposite the 2nd house (which rules YOUR money, possessions, and values) the 8th house rules other people’s money, possessions, and values, your ability to utilize the possessions of others for your own ends. By extension, it rules insurance and tax matters, as well as the influence that the values of others have on you (social values). It can also indicate what influence, if any, you can have on the values of those around you, including the society you live in. As far as sex goes, the 5th house may rule romance, but the 8th house gets down to the sex act itself, your style of sex, your tastes, what turns you on. This includes any fetish you may have. Now you see why astrology readings are confidential. By the way, if you like to play music during sex and you happen to get involved with someone who has the planet Mars in the 8th house AND the sign of their Mars is Gemini, well the music you should play is the Minute Waltz! This house corresponds to the 8th sign, Scorpio, sign of sex, death, regeneration, and other people’s money.
Ninth House: Religion, philosophy, higher education, "higher mind" (the ability to grasp general principles as opposed to the "lower mind" ability to perceive and communicate individual facts). In general, it shows the principles (or lack of principles) that we were raised with. Since the 9th house is opposite the 3rd, it shows long journeys (requiring an overnight stay) as opposed to short ones. This house corresponds to the 9th sign, Sagittarius, sign of higher mind, religion, philosophy, and long journeys.
Tenth House: Career (as opposed to day-to-day work), public image (as opposed to your private image), the goals of your life. The 10th house begins with the Mid-Heaven, the highest point in the horoscope. Additionally, the 10th house rules the parent of "greater influence", usually the mother. This house corresponds to the 10th sign, Capricorn, sign of ambition and organizing skills.
Eleventh House: Traditionally assigned to Friends, Hopes, and Wishes. It goes beyond that, however. The 11th house indicates how we deal with groups of people. This house corresponds with the 11th sign, Aquarius, sign of friendship.
Twelfth House: Self-undoing, psychological problems, restrictions and places of restriction, hidden enemies (as opposed to the open enemies shown by the 7th house). I know, it doesn’t sound like a nice house, but strong placements here usually increase one’s intuition. This house corresponds with the 12th sign, Pisces, sign of intuition, dreams, and compassion.
Just as the signs are divided into three types depending on how they act (the qualities) so are the houses. Only the names are changed. Signs numbered 1, 4, 7, and 10 (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) are the Cardinal, or Action signs. The Houses numbered 1, 4, 7, and 10 are called the Angular Houses, and they show how this particular person starts things.
Signs numbered 2, 5, 8, and 11 (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) are the Fixed or Stubborn signs. Houses numbered 2, 5, 8, and 11 are called the Succedent Houses because the "succeed" or come after the Angular Houses. These are the result houses. They show the results of the actions taken by the Angular houses.
Signs numbered 3, 6, 9, and 12 (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) are the Mutable or Adaptable signs. Houses numbered 3, 6, 9, and 12 are called the Cadent Houses. They deal with communications, daily tasks, and service, things that provide the support that the angular houses need so they can take action.
Let’s take a look at each one in detail.
Houses numbered 1, 4, 7, and 10 are the Action houses. They are the most important houses in any horoscope because they show how you make contact with reality, how you deal with the "here and now".
The First House: Begins with the Rising Sign, the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon when you were born. This is also called the Ascendant or Ascending Sign and is one of the most important points in the horoscope. The Ascendant has an affect on your appearance. In some cases, a person can look more like their Ascendant than their Sun-Sign.
The First House has to do with your "outer personality", the impression you make on people when they first see you. But it goes beyond that. It also shows how you begin anything, your first approach, your first action. For instance, someone with an Aries Ascendant (Aries Rising) will tend to charge right in, while a Taurus Rising person has to take their time and build up momentum. A Leo rising will get someone else to do it for them (probably some poor soul with Virgo Rising).
The placement of planets in the First House is also important. Any planet there, especially if it is in the same signs as the Rising Sign, will give you traits of the Sign that the planet rules. In other words, if you have Mars in the First House, you will tend to be active and aggressive like an Aries Sun-Sign. Saturn will make you cautious and careful at first approach, like a Capricorn Sun-Sign. If there is more than one planet in the First House, the planet that is closest to the cusp (beginning) of the house usually predominates. The only exception is if another planet in the house is stronger by sign. Click here for a complete list of Planets in the First House.
The number of planets you have in angular houses can be significant. Click here to see what it means when you have A Majority of Planets in Angular Houses.
The Fourth House: People sometimes comment that there must be more to someone’s character than the horoscope. After all, doesn’t the way we are brought up have any effect? Sure it does. And that is shown right there in the Fourth House of the chart!
The Fourth House shows your early life, how you were raised. It is your "home", your foundations, your roots, and as such, it affects you for the rest of your life.
It also shows how you tend to act in the domestic area, what you are like in private. Paradoxically, it governs the last third of your life as well. The sign on the cusp (beginning) of your Fourth House and the planets inside show what you be like as you get older. For example, if you have Aries on the Nadir (the cusp of the Fourth House), you will tend to be active around the house and you will also become more active as you age. When other people your age will be using canes and walkers, you will be entering marathons going rollerblading.
The Fourth House also rules the parent of "lesser influence". In most societies today, that will usually mean the father. Here’s a neat trick. You can "read" your father from your horoscope. Just turn the horoscope wheel until the Fourth House is on the left side, where the First House should be located. Then, re-number the houses so that the 4th house becomes the 1st, the 5th house becomes the 2nd, etc.
In other words, your 4th house can be read as your father’s 1st house. Your 5th house (your romance) becomes your father’s 2nd house (his money possessions, and values), etc. I’ll give more details on this technique in the section on derived houses.
The Seventh House: On the horoscope wheel, the Seventh House is opposite the First. House One is you. House Seven is "other people". Specifically, it rules anyone else that you deal with as an Equal. This includes marriage and business partners of course. But it also shows your "open enemies". Some might think it strange that marriage and enemies are ruled by the same house. Others would find this very appropriate.
What most books don’t tell you is that the Seventh House rules the First marriage. If there is another marriage, it is shown by the Ninth House. How about a third marriage? A description of your third marriage (if any) is found in your Eleventh House. You see how this works? Start with the 7th House as the 1st marriage and go counterclockwise around the wheel, skipping every other house, to see all other marriages. Some people (like Elizabeth Taylor who has eight marriages) have to go completely around the wheel!
To find out more about your first marriage partner, turn your horoscope wheel upside down so that the Seventh House is on the left side, where the First house is normally located. Then, Re-number the houses. House number 7 becomes house 1, the 8th house becomes house 2, and so on. Now read that chart as if it were the horoscope of your marriage partner.
The Tenth House: Yes, the Tenth House does rule your "career", but that is not all. It indicates the Goals of your life, your purpose. Yes, philosophers do disagree about whether or not life has a "purpose". But it is known these days that people who do have a purpose in their lives are generally happier and tend to live longer.
This house begins with The Mid-Heaven, the point that is at the high point of the Sun’s apparent path across the sky. The sign on the Mid-Heaven influences your career, as does the position of the planet that rules that sign. Planets inside the house also have an effect.
The late Charles Jayne and his wife Viva discovered that the planet that makes the closest aspect to the Mid-Heaven usually determines the career. When you are trying to find the career in the horoscope, this is the first thing to check.
Houses numbered 2, 5, 8, and 11 are called the Succedent Houses. This is where you develop administer, and enjoy the things you start in the angular houses.
The Second House: is usually listed as ruling money and possessions. Of course, there is more to it than that. Nobody possesses something unless they place a value on it. This is the house of values, the value you place on things. Included is the value you place on your own life, your sense of self-worth. Therefore, when you examine a horoscope for psychological problems, the second house has to be checked.
The Second House shows how you develop and enjoy the things you begin in your First House. It shows how you posses things and make them your own. For a good contrast in second houses, check out the horoscopes of Bill Gates and Ghandi.
The Fifth House: is more than just love and romance. It rules everything connected with fun and games. Sports, hobbies, gambling and speculation. That’s right. When you take a plunge in the stock market, your Fifth House shows how you do it, as well as the likely outcome. This is the house of self-expression in all forms. It corresponds to the fixed sign Leo, sign of creativity. The late Marc Edmund Jones pointed out that while the 2nd house shows how we posses inanimate things, the Fifth House is the indicator of how we make animate things our own. In other words, not just things, but creative experiences themselves. For a contrast in styles of romance, take a look at the charts of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinski. Compare these to the horoscope of Henri Landru who married and murdered ten women.
The Eighth House: is opposite the 2nd. While the Second House shows our possessions and resources, the Eighth House indicates the resources and possessions of other people, our access to these things, and how they affect us. This includes the money and possessions we get through inheritance, so this house also rules death and all matters connected with it.
Since the 2nd house shows our values, the Eighth House rules the values of others, including those of the society we live in. It shows how these change us and also our impact on them, how we can change these values and affect those around us.
Of course, the Eighth House corresponds to the 8th sign, Scorpio. This means it rules sex as well. Actually, it shows what might be loosly termed as biological "energy". Sex is only one possible outlet. Another is rehabilitation. The Eighth House shows how well we can bounce back from ailments. Still, most people don’t worry about that unless they’re sick. Sex is what they want to know about. Look to this house to find out what "turns people on". Saturn, for instance, is controlled and controlling. Uranus is "kinky". Well, you can see the complete list in the section on Planets in the Houses.
The Eleventh House: is usually shrugged off in most books as being just "friends, hopes, and wishes". But all the succedent houses have to do with possessions, and this house is no exception. One of the most valuble things we can "possess" are friends. The Eleventh House is opposite the 5th house, which is our self-expression, what we are already enjoying. By contrast, the Eleventh House shows what we want to enjoy, things we don’t have yet. Our hopes and wishes. It also shows (and most books don’t mention this) how we can help other people express themselves. Also, since this house is right after the 10th house, it shows money we get directly from career. Be sure to look to your 2nd house, however, to see if you will keep it.
Houses numbered 3, 6, 9, and 12 are called the Cadent Houses. They come after the succedent houses and before the angular houses. We can look at cadent houses as being the thought (or lack of it) that we do before we take action (angular houses). They also show the analysis and criticism we do on the resources we already have (the succedent houses).
Without cadent houses, we would never grow or develop. We would stay stuck with what we already have (succedent houses) and never be able to think before acting. Cadent Houses are the backup of Angular House action.
To see what happens when there are a majority of planets in cadent houses, go to Do You Have a Majority of Planets in One House Type. If you have no planets in cadent houses, go to What it Means if You Have an Empty House Type.
The Third House: Shows how you perceive and communicate. Beyond that, it indicates how you think about utilizing those resources accumulated in the second house. Here is where you find out about a person’s communication skills and their style of communicating. It also shows how well you get along with those in your immediate environment. This is the house of brothers and sisters (parents are ruled by houses 4 and 10) as well as neighbors. Short trips are also governed here, any trip that takes less than a day. Don’t count on any deep understanding here. The Third House is only for facts. The Ninth House is where they get put together.
The Sixth House: Fun, games, and creativity are nice, but eventually we have to get to work. The Sixth House shows how we perform work. This is no career. It is simply how we do any task, whether on the job or in our personal life. This is the house of service, both given and received. It shows the kind of service you provide, and the quality of service you get back from others. If the dry cleaner messes up your clothes or a sales clerk is rude to you, check this house. Actually, you should check it first before any trouble comes up. All the cadent houses have to do with communication of some sort. House number six shows how we deal with and communicate details, how we analyze things in detail. Conditions of health are also shown here. For instance, if Neptune swings by, don’t be surprised if that “spiritual health diet” that claims you can live on only one grain of rice a week, suddenly looks good to you.
The Ninth House: The Ninth House is opposite the Third House. The 3rd shows your ability to learn specific skills, like reading and writing. The Ninth House indicates how you deal with generalities, the general principles behind things. The 3rd is short trips, something in your immediate neighborhood or slightly further. The Ninth House deals with things at greater distances, such as trips requiring an overnight stay. This is the house where you can find out about a person’s religion and philosophy, the general principles they believe, and also the principles they were raised with. Saturn here, for instance, shows discipline and the likelihood of a guilt trip. I have several clients with that one who were raised in strict convent schools. Uranus indicates rebellion and the total replacement of the early upbringing. The phrase these folks hear the most is “You believe WHAT!?”.
While the 3rd house shows how we think about utilizing our own resources, the Ninth House tells us how we think about utilizing the resources of other people. Strong placements here can be good for business and consulting work. The horoscope of Martha Stewart is a good example. She makes her living with publishing (another Ninth House activity) and giving advice.
The Twelfth House: shows the characteristic ways that you can do yourself in. It is the dustbin of the horoscope. Whatever we don’t want to show others, we put here. But this also shows what we don’t want ourselves to see, what we don’t want to deal with. This is the house of our psychological problems. Strong placements here, if not dealt with properly, can lead to disaster, as in the horoscope of Charles Whitman Jr., the Texas Tower Killer, or Henri Landru, a serial killer.
On the positive side, we can get people who try to help others overcome their problems and restrictions. Most were born right after sunrise (and everyone on the “graveyard shift”). This put the Sun in the Twelfth House. Usually, there were other planets there as well.
The 6th house shows how we can put our own creativity to use. The Twelfth House shows how we can inspire others to make best use of their own creativity. Yes, this house can be the dustbin of our horoscope. But once we learn to deal with it, this house can become our greatest strength.
