Chapter 24 - Waterfall

Herbert had left the little group again, after saying something about an attack and purple bunnies and that was when Brian decided to give up trying to understand him, before he would drive him completely insane.
They had continued their journey again, slowly, but the where moving. Mical was leading them, because he simply was the only one who knew the way here. Although Mical tried everything to hide it, it was still obvious for Laughly, even for Brian who didnt knew him that long, that he was still in pain. Brian and Laughly had made a silent agreement that they just didnt talked about it or asked. They just simply let Mical go and pretend they didnt know. Moy was acting like a young dog should act; running forward and then back and he had probably walked miles more than the small group he belonged to.
Brian was actually really enjoying this part of his journey. In this part of the woods the sun was shining and even the trees looked friendly. He only heard the sound of the wind and some vague thundering in the background, but it didnt sound scary to him. More like a river or something like that. He would almost forgot that he was actually looking for something and that Erus and other dark creatures where chasing him. He really felt happy at this moment.
Shall we take a little rest for a moment? asked Laughly.
Mical hesitated for a moment, but then agreed.
Laughly and Brian decided to ignore the relief on Micals face and they all sat down in the grass resting their backs against some trees. Brian had realised before how tired he was and he closed his eyes, enjoying the sounds of the wood. He didnt knew how long he had sat there, but suddenly he heard a strange sound; a very terrifying sound. He opened his eyes and he saw Moy standing near him making a really scary growling sound. If he hadnt known what a sweet creature Moy was, he would have been seriously afraid. Not that he wasnt know anyways, because what kind of somebody? Something? Would make Moy growl like that?
Erus? he whispered, not believing his bad luck.
No, that cant be. They would almost freeze the air remember? answered Laughly with a slightly shaking voice.
Brian remembered how the whole atmosphere had seemed to change when the Erus where near and he is relieved. He slowly get on his feet again, curious and know knowing why he is not afraid anymore. He strokes Moy and walks in the direction that Moy looks at. After a moment of hesitation Laughly follows him. When Laughly grasps Brians shoulder he almost yelps.
LAUGH! You scared the hell out of me! he hisses.
My hero, answers Laughly with a small twinkle in her eyes.
Together they carefully start to search for the reason of Moys growling. The looked everywhere they could think, but found nothing. Suddenly they hear a strange noise at the left of them.
Whats that? whispers Laughly.
That my dear is what you call a rabbit, sounds the laughing voice of Mical behind them.
At least it isnt purple
A moment there is a completely silence, then the three burst out in laughing, not being able to stop very soon. Non of them notice the girl with blondish brown hair who is observing them from between some bushes.

After a break of probably an hour they continued their little journey again. Mical was feeling better and they were moving a lot quicker than they did in the beginning. Brian felt like he could sing, although he thought it might be better if he was not. The thundering sound became louder and louder, but Brian just ignored it. It didnt sound threatening to him and it probably would be one of the other surprises of this land. There were times that Brian was starting to feel like an Indiana Jones or someone like that. The thundering sound had become so loud that it was impossible to ignore.
Whats that sound?! he yelled to Laughly.
A waterfall!
At the same moment they were out of the woods and what Brian then saw took his breath away. A waterfall? That was really an under-statement. Brian had once see the Niagara falls, but this waterfall was one of the most beautiful things he ever saw. It was gigantic. The woods ended at a cliff and when Brian looked carefully to the river down to him he saw it was pretty high were he was standing. Another under statement, live is full of them. He felt how his fear of heights started to grasp him again and he quickly took some steps back. The thundering sound he had heard all the time was the sound of the water hitting the river below. The waterfall was separating the woods in two parts and Brian saw the other part just in front of him, connected with where he stood with a simple robe.
Al right, Mical turned around, we need to clime with this robe to the other side and then continue.
Brian felt how all the colour left his face.
Clime?
Yes.
Brian? said Laughly worriedly, whats going on?
Well erm Im not a big hero when it comes to heights.
Mical also turned around. You are afraid of
Heights. Yes totally true. Isnt there another way?
They only other way is right next to one of the Eru castles. There is no way we can go next to one of those without being caught.
Shit.
