| II. Brian was walking trough the city. Well, city was not really a good word in this case. He was walking trough the heaps of rubble that was once called a city. His city. The city where children were playing basketball in the park, where people were shopping. Were he and his friends had made fun of each other, had been hiding for the press and their fans. The city that he had loved and where he had lived a normal live, as far as you can call a live of a Backstreet Boy normal. Now there was nothing left. Just like the voice said; he was alone, totally alone. He didnt know how long it was since he had seen his friends die in front of his eyes. Maybe some minutes ago, but it also could be hours, days, months, years! He had totally lost track of time. By the thought of his friends he felt how it stuck trough his heart and tears started to flow again. Brian tried to concentrate on something different. There must be somebody else Brian stood still, shocked by the sound of his own voice. Then he realised something that he didnt before; there was no sound. The world around him was unnatural silent. No birds were singing their lovely songs, no sound of any living creature, no cars or loud music, even the wind didnt made a sound. Brian swallowed, but then continued talking out loud, because he had noticed something else: the sound of his own voice was making him feel a bit more comfortable. I will find them. It was not even a question. He didnt want to hear those soft voices in his head who were saying that he was alone and that there was nothing left for him on earth. Brian? His voice. The voice that would probably hunt him forever in his worst nightmares. The voice that he hated above everything else. Brian started to walk a bit faster. Brian? Brian started to run. Panic was coming over him and he just simply ran, without thinking where the roads should lead him. Suddenly he stopped. Wasnt there something? A noise? Brian hold his breath. Was there something alive here? He started to walk towards the sound and slowly it became clearer. It sounded like the voice of a young boy in trouble. Anyone??? The sounds become louder and Brian can know hear what the boy is yelling. HELP ME!!! PLEASE!!! Where are you!?! Brian continued in the direction of the screams. IN A CELLAR!!! KEEP SCREAMING!!! Finally Brian had find the rest of a house, where the screams came from. He peeked trough a cellar window frame and he saw a young boy standing in the middle of a cellar with no way out, except of this little window. The stairs to above had broken down and the boy hadnt managed to get by the window himself. The young boy stared with big eyes at Brian. Hullo, said Brian with a soft voice. He smiled encouraging at the young boy. The boy had the whitest skin Brian had ever seen in this live, as if he had never felt the sun shining on his skin and raven black hair. Hai, the boy whispered looking afraid at Brians silhouette. Brian gave him a smile. Whats your name, sweety? Lumos, whispered the boy. That was an unusual name, but wasnt everything unusual about this boy? Well Greetings Lumos. My name is Brian. I know. Good, shall I help you out of here. Come closer to this window and I shall try to pull you up. Unsure Lumos walked towards to window. He did his arms above his head and Brian was just able to grasp his hand. Within a couple of seconds the boy was sitting next to Brian in the grass. Brian observed the boy who was sitting next to him. He was skinny, almost too skinny and his eyes had a dark, almost black colour and they seemed to have seen more of the world than the average boy. Marks of tears where showing on his face. He didnt look older then 9 maybe 10 years. Lumos? Slowly the boy turned towards him. He started to shiver and looked afraid at Brian. Brian gave him another of his famous smiles. You dont have to be afraid of me, silly boy. How old are you? 14, Lumos whispered. Brian tried to hide his shock. Fourteen? The little boy looked so vulnerable. Slowly Brian put one arm around the boy and pulled him close next to him. You dont have to be afraid anymore Are you sure of that human, hisses a voice in his ear. Brian turns around and looks in two yellow eyes. He hadnt seen them before in their real form and at the same moment he understood why and hoped he would never see it again. The creature in front of him had bright yellow eyes and a long, angular face with a pointy snout. It had long skinny arms with hands with long tiny fingers and his legs were like those of a frog. Its skin was a unreal grey colour. Brian could see some long teeth and a forked tongue and he backed away with a soft shriek. Protectively he puts his arms around Lumos, who cant do nothing then stare at the thing in front of him. The creature laughed his cruel laugh and tried to grasp the boy. Ask where this boy is from, hisses the creature, ASK HIM! Lumos looks afraid at Brian. I I am TELL HIM!!! Shrieks the creature jumping up and down. Lumos tries to hide his face in Brians neck and Brian feels how his shirt gets wet from the boys tears. Go away, did you have done enough damage already! In front of his eyes the creature changes in a more familiar form; Kevin. No, whispers Brian softly. The only difference with the old Kevin is that his skin is a little bit whither. And then it hit Brian. Lumos, he whispers in the boys ear, are you one one of them? Lumos slowly lift up his head and looks with two read eyes at Brian. Yes. Back Next Back to the Index |
