| AN: I'll think this story needs an extra warning. The political statements made in this story are not mine... they are from the wonderful mind of George Orwell and I don't have to agree with them. Don't read if you think it shall offend you. This story is not happy, it tells about how live can changes when the world around you changes... Please review 'cause I'm very curious about what you think about it... I really enjoy writing it, but opinions are appreciated... Please note: Flashback ROOM 101 1. Brian was alone. Totally alone. He knew where he was and that wasnt really an encouraging thing to know. He was in room 101, the place where your worst nightmares come true. He was sitting with his back against the wall were the three slogans were written of the Party: WAR IS PEACE FREEDOM IS SLAVERY IGNORANCE IS STRENTH While Brian was sitting, waiting on what they would do, he started to think of when it all started Big Brother is president, he has beaten former president Jason with more then 87% of the total votes! Kevin and Brian were both watching the television, Brian was starting to look a bit worried. I dont know if its good that Big Brother won. I mean, I dont agree with his idea and his way of politics I dunno Bri I thought he could say it well. Your probably right and I wasnt really a fan of Jason either, so where am I worrying about. Brian starts to smile. When will we start rehearsing for the next tour? Kevin smiles back. In about three months. Cant wait! Brian looked at the ground. How would Kevin do at the moment? He hadnt seen him in years, he probably still lived with his wife Kirsten and his kid, Jenny in his old house, the same where Brian had heard that Big Brother had won. Kevin had always been the smartest one of all the Backstreet Boys. He was the only one who had been able to continue his normal live. We cannot do WHAT?! said AJ. We dont have the approval to perform, says Kevin softly, with his eyes on the ground. WHAT DOES THAT BIG BROTHER THINK --- Shut up, AJ Big Brother is watching you remember? Howie nods meaningfully at the screen that is hanging behind them, a man in a grey suit is talking on it about the attack of the big enemy called Oceania. AJ looks one moment afraid at the screen, then he shakes his head. So there will be no Backstreet Boys anymore? Kevin doesnt dare to look up. No. Why hadnt they seen it coming? As soon as Big Brother was installed in the White House things started to change. Television programmes disappeared from the screen, important scientists were taken in prison and in each television programme they started to show the good things of the Party and Big Brother. They started to make Big Brother more powerful and smarter than God himself, and nobody rejected, not even the churches or the Pope. It was almost as if Big Brother had everybody in its power. The Backstreet Boys had started to rehearse for their tour, three months after the start of Big Brother, just like planned. But then a new thing came up, the Big Brother is watching you program. Firstly they said that it was for the safety of America, but Brian didnt believe that from the beginning. Every household had to have a television-screen in their living room, which was always turned on, showing programs of the Party. But it was not only a television, it could also see everything that happened in the house. The whole democratic system disappeared. New Ministries where created while the old disappeared. Ive got a new job. Brian looked at his cousin in front of him. For the first time in years Kevin wasnt able to look Brian in the eyes. Great, said Brian softly. He almost didnt dare to ask. Where? Ministry of Truth. Brian nodded his head. Good for you. It had not been the same anymore. Their strong bound was broken. The only person that Brian had seen was Kevin, the others they had all gone their own way. Not that they had all chosen the best way, but that was something totally different. Where there good ways in a world ruled by Big Brother??? Interesting question. I cant take this B-rok, whispered Aj. I will to be able to control my own live. Not let that darn Big Brother control it! Brian looked at his friend in front of him. He knew how hard it was for Aj, especially for him. Aj had always done it his own way, had always made his own rules and never really listened to what others said. That was one of the thing he admired in his friend. But now Big Brother was REALLY watching you everywhere always. And then the Thought-police Just be carefull, Bone. The Thought-police. It was them who had taken him prison, who had brought him to Room 101, place where your worst nightmares came true. They always found out. Brian still didnt understood how, but he knew they did. He knew it as soon as he started to rebel against Big Brother, but it hadnt stopped him. The Thought-police, you saw them everywhere; on the streets, in the buildings and they werent really the most loved citizens. Take that as a HUGE under-statement. But there was fear. Fear for Big Brother and especially for Room 101. When the whole Big Brother program started everybody thought that Big Brother could maybe watch and hear everything he couldnt find out what they thought. Man, where they wrong! The Thought-police came. And like their name explains; they could arrest you for your thoughts. You could think what you really thought of Big Brother. How much you hated him and you could think of thousands of ways to kill him, torture him, destroy him! But they would always find out. Sooner or later they did and then you werent happy. O no, you wasnt. The power of Big Brother was huge. Next Back to the Index |
