Chapter 3 - Drowning
Brian thought he could never breath again. He is surrounded by water� everywhere is water. He has got no idea where air is. Desperately he started to swim. Above him the water was lighter so he started to swim towards the light. His lungs almost explode. He feels that he really needs some oxygen. Panic came up in his mind.
[Calm down Littrell. Just swim and try to survive this.]
Brian had the strange feeling that the water didn't want to let him go. He felt how it, what felt like long slimy arms, tried to pull him deep under, how it tried to let him drown. With all the strength that he had left he tried to keep away from those arms. He swims as hard as he can and just at the moment that he thinks he's not gonna make it he's out of the water. Brian takes a deep breath and starts swimming to the riverside, afraid that the arms will pull him back under. Exhausted he falls down on the ground and waits until his heart beats normal again. He closes his eyes for a couple of minutes and then he opens them again. He starts to look around.
[So where on earth am I right now. The last thing I remember is that I was driving to Kevin's house and then was I drowning in this lake� I am missing something and I would really wanna know what.]
The water in which he almost drowned was an oblong lake. There was something weird about the place he was now. It looked almost normal, but with some kind of reason it was different than normal. The lake was surrounded with all kind of plants and trees he had never seen in his live. It was beautiful but at the same time also a scary. How did he get here? He couldn't remember that he had driving in this place. Then he hears behind him some noises. He turns around and sees a beautiful young girl standing between some trees.
" 'Quel re, that means Hello, Brian," she says with a soft voice.
"How do you know my name and who are you?"
"I know a lot more about you, my dear. My name is Laughly and I'm your guardian in this place."
A question pops up in Brian's head. "Am I dead? Did I have an accident or something like that? Is this Heaven?"
She smiles, "No, you're not death� yet. This is the world, between the living and the death."
"Are you an angel?"
She giggles "No, I'm human, just like you are. The only difference between you and me is that you are born in the world of the livings and I'm born in the world in-between. I can explain you everything if you want."
"I would like it, because I really don't understand," Brian starts to shiver.
"Why am I so cold? I mean the sun is shinning, but I'm so cold."
"Follow me, and I will explain everything to you."
Brian follows Laughly. They are walking trough the bushes and than they are at an open place. There she sat down and Brian also does.
"What�?"
"Shhh�," she whispers, "I will explain everything to you by telling you this story. I will first tell you how you arrived here. You have been involved in an accident in your world. That is how you came here. Everybody that is almost death arrives here. Most of them drown in the pool. Some of them survive. You have been very lucky. But now the hardest part has to start, you need to find the door to get out. Also I don't know where that door is. I'm only here to guide you. But there are a lot of dangers. We really need to look out for the Eru's. If they catch you, you shall die in your own world and in here. The reason that you are cold is simple, death is leaving your body again. When you swam in the pool you were almost death, but you have survived it and now the cold is leaving you again. I think we can better go to my house and prepare for you searching for the door. The longer you stay in my world the bigger the chance is that the Eru's shall catch. It's very hard to escape from them. In my house I shall explain things better to you, but know we first need to go, before the Eru's come."
Brian looked at the girl in front of him. To him she looked like� like an Elf, she had something mysterious over her. She had brown, long hair and she wore a very simple grey outfit. He trusted her, and although he was very confused about the story she just told him, he already started to like her. He stands up and started to follow her to her house.
