Life traveled long, along a valley floor Seeing only that which has come within site What lies beyond, in dream only, is it there? Ah to dream, see life as want I could Move always on the path, it does lead my way Where has it brought me today, tomorrow? A mountain stands on the path I walk A majestic course, I follow, I go Will I climb? Yes choose not now another way Rise up high, now above the valley floor Finding dreams thought only in the sky Are these the dreams dwell deep in me? Found for me a home to live My first thanks for what the mountain gives Is there more, up to journey, up to see? The land spreads out, and a place to till Oh joy for me, a garden place I have What will it yield? I put my hands to task My son you come, with me now you will live I only offer you what me there is Will you stay? Will you learn my path? On this mountain I sit with open heart For I see all around, life is open now to see Is there more? My eyes go forth for me On to this path I walk so high Friends, so many come through a desktop window Do I dream tonight? I need not more for me Now the climb on the mountain path is good In life I live as the dreams say should Now before the day has end, I see the path go on again It stays not here round the mountain high Going down again to the valleys wide Must I go? On this path do I have a choice? My son will soon depart, his home waits So many miles beyond this mountain he goes May he find his path good, for he will know? Others have come on this mountain path I give up home to them, I will move on Garden too has passed, I till no land tomorrow The journey goes now down the mountainside Back to the valleys wide and low Where now will the path lead for me? I take with me my dreams again Till a mountain appears upon my path Will it be there for me to climb one day?
