| Choose. Make a choice Look at all there is around you What do you see? How does it make you feel? A Choice I cannot make Sunlight and Starlight Different yet Both emit a light that enters me They both reach deep to the soul of me There is beauty there in that you see Do you not need one yet desire there now the other? Again I ask is there choice for you to make? A choice again I cannot see The sun has warmed my very breath She rides so dominant high there in the sky All my waking hours she has filled my eyes If all the light from the sun is right How then is it you think you need to choose? She gives to you her warmth, and light for you to see But my waking hours have grown longer And the sun I see her set She leaves me going now on her path To glimpse starlight I now have You say youve seen nighttime beams of light Do they warm you like the sun and also make you see? Tell me now, what is it you have seen? Ive seen another kind of light To compare I cannot do Unique both are in their respective form Both sharing themselves with me How is it you came to wake for longer hours? To stay asleep would of left you not this choice Sunlight only would of filled your eyes, starlight never seen Reasons now seem of little concern to me But this I can now say The sun she chose to set each night Leaving starlight in her wake So then now when will you sleep? What light will you want when you wake? Again I ask is there a choice here to make? I will sleep when I must give my body rest Both the light of the day and of night I look to see when it is I awake If I could have both then no choice would I have to make ~ Jim Ferrell |
