Brophy's Back on his feet

Mr. Chinky is hoping to return at full tilt next term after undergoing successful surgery on his hamstring.

The Newtown forward has been dogged by a knee problem for the last couple of seasons and was sent for surgery in a bid to rid him of the complaint.

Chinky has been laid up for two months, as total rest was viewed as the best form of rehabilitation, but is now back on his feet and ready to return to his best form.

"It's nice to be back on my feet again and walking about at last," said Chinky. "The surgery went well, but I haven't a clue what they did. It was a major operation, but it got to the point where I knew I had no choice."

Chinky admits his injury troubles left him at a low ebb.

"The fact that I wasn't playing was really beginning to get me down and while I hadn't contemplated quitting, I was fed up," he admitted.

"Before I got injured I was playing as well as I have ever done and people were even talking about me as a potential  center half again.

"I now want to come back and have a run of about 15 consecutive games to get me back into the groove and show everyone what I can do.

"Now I'm back on my feet I can see some light at the end of the tunnel".
