Kickdown Switch Boot
There is no known source for repro versions of the kickdown switch boot; GM part number 9781103.  Three NOS were just sold together on EBay for  $152!!!  That's a part that GM sold for 36 cents in 1972.
Lacking a viable supply source, my local Lee Auto Parts helped me find the Raybestos H16019 brake part boots which might best be used to make a replacement.
I cut the opposite ends off two of the brake boots, used weatherstrip adhesive to bond them together, and trimmed and sanded one end. On one end I added a  vacuum line cap and secured it with the black weatherstrip adhesive.  On the switch end I added (with adhesive) an o-ring with an OD that matched the opening of the brake boot end and an ID that firmly fit over and into the grove at the end of the switch theadded area.
I was unable to find a picture of an installed original boot & switch assembly so I tried to figure out the best to build, mount and secure it myself.
A picture of the EBay auction GM NOS boot.
The final product as assembled with the cleaned up switch and mounting bracket.  It seems to function well.  Time will tell if it will hold up to use and function on the car.
