Replacement Part Correctness
The purpose of this page is to display some observations of the correctness of replacement parts for the '68 Firebird. It is not intended as a criticism of the repro vendors, I am much too grateful of them for working to offer good reproduced parts. My objective  is to share and improve our hobby.
Front Bumper Stabilizer
The Front Bumper Stabilizer is located between the front bumper bar upper reinforcement and the front fender radiator support gusset.  Besides the Pontiac Parts Book name, I've found vendors calling it: body to bumper insulator, bumper bar front stabilizer, and stabilizer radiator support gusset to bumper reinforcement bushing.
The replacements I purchased are functionally very good; however, the shell is natural metal. My factory originals had a thin black rubber coating on them. I do not know if all vendors offer the same metal shell version or not, nor do I know if the factory had multiple part types over time.

Somewhat hidden, the stabilizer is visible when looking from bumper top level.

Now installed, I painted the natural metal shell replacement stabilizers with flat black paint to simulate the factory look.
