These Ames cable straps match the originals I found on my '68. They secure the cable at various spots in factory drilled holes along the frame.
Positive Battery Cable & Starter Wires
This page shows the route I have for the positive battery cable and starter wires.  The positive battery cable runs down to and  across the smaller cross frame member to the main cross frame.
It crosses the engine compartment along the main cross frame.
A cloth insulator covers the cable in much of it's run.
From the frame it rises up to and runs along the side of the block towards the starter.  Although my old cable was found loose at this point, I found a small flexible clip by the block that I placed the cable on. I am not sure if this is correct. I also tried to leave some room for engine to frame flexing movement..
The small starter wires run from the top of the rear of the engine into this "L" shaped tube and emerge from it in the area of the starter. These were run by the factory.
