| '68 Firebird Axle, TH400, and Engine Code Locations |

| This shows the "possible" location of the 68 Firebird axle code stamping. Rust, grease, dirt, and even the brake lines can easily cover the faint stamping. There's no VIN on the axle. |

| On the right side of the 68 Firebird TH400 is the code stamping tag. It is difficult to get into a position to read even after the grime is off it. P...Y on opposite sides of the tag is the PY code: TH400 for '68 Firebird 400ci/400ci HO Engine with AC. In the gold band is the stamping PY 68 - ? 4202 (the 4202 is unknown) |
| The VIN stamping is on the left side just above the shifter cable covering. A mirror is needed to see it. |
