Nov 21, 2004 Games

Jackie Nguyen of FCBC FV and her teammates Brian and Sam find lots of easy shots against Walnut Hanley.  Its 30-24 at the half, but the three point shooting of EBC pulls them away in the second half.  Wal JL finds payoff in Melvin's inside game but just wins as it watches the trey at the buzzer miss.  Jason Jue has the hot hand to break open a game tied at the half 23 all.  Herald leads at the half 30-27 but runs out of gas as IEC wins by five.  .

Nov 28 Games

After a 20-13 first half, CBCOC turns it on to a 31-10 second half as FV is misses shot after shot.  Fec2 is putting together a new team, with advantage to Wal JL for this week.  FEC has the lead 25-19 at the half but IEC finishes strong to take the game.  MPCBC wins behind the shooting of Gary, who seems to be getting better each week.  If you're open you have to shoot, and Herald's Terry is just too open.

Dec 19, 2004 Games

In  a close game, Wal jas starts out good with Jason Lee scoring ten points to take the 24-14 lead at the half, and then FEC returns the favor with Peter Chang scoring ten in the second half to win the game..  IEC is stone cold the first half allowing Wal JL to lead 24-13 at the half and then steal the upset behind high percentage shooting, especially Keith .  He must have ice in his veins, because with six seconds to go, Gary Lai steps up to the line and puts in two freethrows to win the game for MPCBC.  CBCOC explodes for 37 first half points led by Gary Nguyen's 15 first half points but the MVP for the team goes to Peter Yiu who shoots 4/5 from the field and 2/2 at the charity line for 12 points.  Herald mercifully calls off the press for the second half in a blow out.

FEC starts the game down 10-0, catches up by half time and easily wins with a 41 point second half.  Stanley and Billy lead IEC with scoring and defense to a win over cold shooting MPCBC.  In a 37-10 half lead for Wal JL, Kelvin already has scored 16.  Three times they have met, and three times, Fec2 has blown out CBCOC, this time led by the 16 year old Johnny.   Its no game, EBC is helpless against the youth and speed of Herald.

Wal Jas gets their first one of the season as Fec2 shoots 1/18 from three point land.  CBCOC with a balanced team effort takes control after being down 22-21 at the half. Andrew and Duc give EBC a chance with early scoring, but IEC dominates with Stanley, Jimmy and Martin.  MPCBC with the league's scoring leader Gary has no trouble with FV as four players post double figures.  Herald is sizzling from outside as it leads this weeks made treys with nine, four of them by Terry.

Behind the stellar play of Johnny Chen, Fec2 runs out to a 10-0 start as FEC cannot score the first six minutes of the game.  Wal Jas blitzes FV with a 45-16 half led by the offensive outbursts of Ryan and Andy.  EBC breaks their three game losing streak by holding Wal Han to eleven second half points.  Tied 22 all at the half, its close throughout, but IEC just squeezes by as Marten hits five treys and Billy delivers 11 second half points.  Herald leads the entire game as Wal JL gets within two points with minutes to go, but finishes them off with a 7-0 ending.

Fec2 scores 46 second half points in a win against a Wal Han team that can't find a regular line up.  FEC is on fire the first half behind the outside shooting of Peter (14 first half pts) and Jimmy (11 first half points) to take a 39-26 lead.  MPCBC continues their tradition of winning clutch baskets, this time its Jason Chin with a trey at the buzzer in OT.  Its no contest, so rather than waste a drive out, IEC decides to get a workout and break the 100 mark in this worse ever Walnut league mismatch.  At the half,  Herald leads 19-12 in this defensive battle, and gets revenge for last season's losses to Wal Jas.

Jan 30 Games

Peter and Kevin have the big games in this easy FEC win over a FV team that is rapidly losing enthusiasm.  Wal Han leads the entire first half but falters again, racking up 15 team fouls in the second half and ending up with just four players on the court, for the Wal JL victory.  EBC jumps out to a 35-24 first half lead and the W over an unhappy Wal Jas.  Certainly outsized, but not intimidated, MPCBC earns the win with good team defense and shooting.  Johnny shows his stuff in Herald's seventh straight win.

Jimmy Sidarta is superman and all five IEC players score double figures.  FEC leads 26-24 at the half but EBC takes over behind Duc's 12 second half points.  Quoc Tran has his way in the paint to lead FV to their second win.  Mel inside and Keith outside gets Wal JL the win.  Herald's defense comes up big to harass MPCBC to a 28-13 first half.

EBC defensively strangles a Fec2 that is hurting from Tim's ankle injury last week and the parent grounding of their young point guard.  Peter Chang adds to his resume with this outstanding offensive effort to help get the W for FEC.  A double header for CBCOC is a double disappointment as they just don't have the extra gas to get past a Wal JL team powered by the Luong brothers, Con and Keith.  MPCBC has a rough nite with the shooting but still enough to beat a Wal Jas that has lost last season's magic.  Herald makes all the right coaching moves at the end and Michael Wong has a game to remember as he hits the trey at the buzzer to avenge their only lost of the season to IEC and wrap up a stellar regular season.

Kelvin Liu and Paul Min lead Wal Han to their first win this season and knock Wal Jas out of the playoffs.  Joseph takes off his Michael Jackson glove to hit eight treys and with teammate Gary squash out a tired Wal Han.  Its 23-15 at the half, but a 41 point second half is EBC's strategy to blow out Ryan- less CBCOC.    Even though Fec2 convincingly beats FV with four players, League rules require five players by halftime, so Fec2 forfeits to FV.  IEC pounds the inside with Billy and Jimmy to beat Wal JL.

Feb 27 Games - Playoffs Round 1

Much props to Jojo Ma for winning the game for EBC on a last second trey.  Howard has his best game ever in Wal Han's second win in a row. Patrick scores and FEC advances but Wal JL can't as they miss 22 freethows and probably just as many layups.  At the half, its 20-20 courtesy of Brandon's 50 foot trey at the buzzer, but then IEC gets stronger while CBCOC tires.  No upset, the expected easy win for #1 Herald against #8 FV.

March 6 Games

With league scoring champion Gary putting on a display of his talent, MPCBC turns a 32-25 half time lead into a laugher.  Wal Jas has good team balance with four players in double figures in a "just shoot the ball as soon as you get it" game.   Kelvin finds the form of his younger days, but Peter Yiu steals the show with an offensive rebound and winning basket at the buzzer .. way to go Pete!! Though their outside game is missing, FEC stays close to IEC for 25 minutes, but Marten and Brandon blow the game open and make them pay for sagging inside.  Herald rushes out to a 18 point lead in the first half, then EBC claws back but the buzzer beater just clanks out.

Playoff Chart

IEC takes their third Walnut championship.  In their familiar MO, they are down at the half 21-26, but dominate the second half.  Billy Min is MVP leading IEC with 20 points, Brandon added 12 with four treys, Stanley added 11, Hendry added 9, and Jeff added 2.  Herald improves in their second season with our league to take second place.   In this game, they are led by Ryan with 11 and Terry with 10.  EBC takes third, maintaining a 30-22 half time advantage and are led by Duc and Jojo.  FEC takes fourth, unable to capitalize on Peter's 15 second half points.  MPCBC keep their 5th place regular season place breaking a close game with a stretch of seven treys in the early second half, mostly by Joseph.  CBCOC takes 6th, led by Jason with 16 points including four treys.  Wal JL takes 7th and FV ends up at 8th.  In a non playoff game, Wal Jas wins in OT.
