| There Ain't No Gettin Over Me | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Jackie. Steven. What are you doing here? I just wanted to tell you. She looked at him and paused, and then at the ground, Congratulations. On graduating Oh. replied a disappointed Hyde. He thought she had come to him to tell him that she chose him., Thanks. Look Steven. I know you two want me to decide- You know Jackie. This is a bunch of shit. If you love me, you would have picked me. But you havent. So what does that show? Steven! Thats not fair. You two were the ones who started this whole competition for me. Kelso did. I just did it because I cant stomach you and him together. Thats all? It doesnt have anything to do with how you feel for me? Maybe that you love me? Hyde was silent. That is what you told me. After you broke my heart. Right? Hyde remained silent. Look. You cheated on me, Steven. So why am I feeling all this guilt? Do you think Im happy about this. You know there is no choice to be made. You know I would never go back to him. He cheated on me. But so did you. So why should we get back together? Huh? Tell me. Because. Jackie waited for him to go on, but he didnt Jackie laughed, Because?! Thats not the answer I was looking for Steven. Its not even an answer! You know I love you! Hyde yelled. His tone of voice, and change of volume, made Jackie jump a little. Dammit Jackie. You know I do. He quiet down, Why are you doing this? If you love me, and I- and I love you, then why are we not together? Jackie held back her tears, Because it doesnt feel right. Doesnt feel right? Hydes voice rose again, How the hell does it not feel right? I love you. Look, you have me saying it again. Im saying the words that you have longed for me to say to you. And Im saying them. And meaning them with all I have. Do you think its easy for me to admit that I love something? I dont love anything! And now, I love you! And you tell me it doesnt feel right? No! Jackie cried, You cheating on me, doesnt feel right. Me crying again over a broken heart, doesnt feel right. Being with someone who gave me that broken heart, doesnt feel right! Hyde stopped talking for a second, and sat down. Putting his head in his hands... Jackie. I am sorry. I screwed up. But you have to know that it didnt mean anything. You have to know that I want to be with you and only you. I made a mistake. He looked up at her, Please...take me back. He looked at her with pleading eyes. Jackie was quiet for a long time... I cant. She shook her head as she cried, Not right now, at least. Hyde stood up, with a look of pain on his face, Why not? Like I said. She wiped the tears off her cheek, It doesnt feel right. Outside of Hydes room, Eric and Donna were listening in. How the hell does it not feel right? Donna hissed. This is so stupid, Donna. What? Us spying. It was just as much of you idea as mine! No, not that. Eric sighed, Them not being together. Wait. You want them to be together? Of course not! They are like Darth Vadar and Princess Leia getting together. Wait. Hydes Darth Vadar? No. Hydes Leia? But hes a guy. No! Eric hissed, Its just...Never mind. Look. Hydes my best friend. And he doesnt love anything. Like he said. but he loves her. and, we have to do something. Donna paused for a second and then jumped up, I got it! Wheres your Moms records? There. Eric pointed over to a box, This is no time for music. Donna walked over and started looking through the records. Eric. This is the perfect time for music. Here is it. She picked up a record, Now were going to play this song. And were going to blare it,ok? Donna walked over and put the record on. Donna. I really dont think- I know what Im doing. And I know its going to work. So shut up and trust me on this one. Back inside Hydes room, Jackie and Hyde had remained quiet since Jackie had said it didnt feel right. I better go. Jackie said quietly. She was about to go to the door, when they both heard loud music. She tried to open the door, but it was locked. What the hell? She muttered. She turned to Hyde, Whys your door locked? It doesnt have a lock. Then why wont it open? Outside of his room, Eric was holding the doorknob for dear life. Back inside Hydes room... Cant you jump up against it or something. Hyde was too interested in the loud music, What the hell is Forman playing? Jackie looked at him, Youre worried about the song? Hello. I cant get out of here! Hyde held up a finger to silence her. Jackie rolled her eyes, and listened to the song. Well, you can walk out on me tonight If you think that it ain't feelin' right But darlin', there ain't no gettin' over me Well, you can say that you need to be free But there ain't no place that I won't be Sweet darlin', there ain't no gettin' over me I'll be the bill you forgot to pay I'll be the dream that keeps you awake I'll be the song on the radio I'll be the reason that you tell the boys "no" Don't you know, you can tell every one that we're through And you might even believe it, too But darlin', there ain't no gettin' over me Sweet darlin', there ain't no gettin' over me I'll be the face that you see in a crowd I'll be the times that you cry out loud I'll be the smile when there's no one around I'll be the book that you just can't put down So you can walk out on me tonight If you think that it ain't feelin' right But darlin', there ain't no gettin' over me You'll see, sweet darlin', there ain't no gettin' over me No, no, no, no, no, no darlin', There ain't no gettin' over me Oooooh No darlin', there ain't no gettin' over me Ooooh, darlin', there ain't no gettin' over me When the song was over, Eric let go of the doorknob and shook out his hand. Ok. I still have no idea what your plan was, but, it better have worked because my hand hurts like hell. My plan was for them to hear that song. And maybe, thatll make them realize that they wont get over each other. and theyll always be running away from the truth, that they need to be together. Or well have to be spending our summer listening to each of them complain about each other. Back inside Hydes room... Jackie was motionless. She just stood there. The song really got to her. And she knew there was no way of getting over Steven. She was still in love with him, and she wanted to be with him. And maybe...it was all right after all. He admitted he was wrong and he told her he loves her. And those three words...she had been waiting so long to hear. Jackie. Hyde whispered, he walked over and stood next to her. He grabbed her hand. Jackie turned around and looked at him. Putting her hands on his cheeks, she brought his lips to hers and kissed him. It had felt like an eternity since they had last kissed. They made no attempt to end the kiss. They finally had to end the kiss for air. Who am I kidding? She smiled, I cant get over you. It just wont happen. But, Im not saying things are back to normal. We still need to work on certain issues we have. But...I believe you when you say you love me, and that you want to only be with me. And I believe that your sorry. So lets give it another shot. Hyde grabbed her face in full speed and kissed her with all he had. She kissed him back. They stumbled over towards the bed. Jackie furiously ran her finger through his hair. Jackie felt the bed hit against the back of her leg. They broke apart for a second, Jackie laid down and Hyde got on top of her. I love you. She said looking up at him. I love you too. He leaned down and kissed her. All right you two. We hope you guys talked- Eric and Donna burst into the room, but stopped dead in their tracks when they saw Jackie and Hyde making out on his bed. Jackie and Hyde looked up. And the two couples had a stare down with each other. Right. So. We see you two need to be alone. So why dont we go. Eric looked at Donna, and the two ran out of the room. Jackie and Hyde looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders, and went back to making out. ************************* |
