Jimmy Eat World is
Zach: Drums, Rick: Bass, Tom: vocals and guitar, Jim: vocals and guitar

Zach and Jim became friends in pre-school and began playing music together in Jr. High.  Being the lifeless metalheads that they were, the only songs they really felt like playing were ones by Metalica.  But hey... we all go through those stages right?  Meanwhile, Rick and Tom were in a high school band called Cornbread. A little while later Tom and Zach eventually met and started their own band by the name of No Longer Plaid.  The band didn't last very long, but did manage to play one show with the Offspring before breaking up (this was obvuiously before the Offspring's unscrupulous sellout).  Now everything is back to where things have basically started.    Jim and Zach were still hanging out and playing, as were Rick and Tom.  Rick and Tom were still even keeping up the band Cornbread which had now changed it's name to Grimus.  And to make a long story short... Jim, Tom, and Zach eventually got together.  But they still needed a bass player.  So the obvious thing was to ask Rick.  But as we can all guess, he turned down the offer.  So the band gets this guy Mitch to join the band.  Jim knew him from an old band a while back.
Now with a full band, Jimmy Eat World has started playing some shows and getting some recording done  for a demo (with the use of their church).  Now, with the use of their demo tape, people from all over Phoenix are being graced by the sounds of Jimmy Eat World.  What a JOYOUS occasion!  Next they decided to record a 7" called One, Two, Three, Four on Wooden Blue Records.  With that 7" out of the way, J.E.W. decided that they maybe would like to have a full CD to call their own.  So with the help of some guy, they accomplished just that.  They got signed to Capitol in late 1994 and since then have replced Mitch with Rick (who was first asked), have released two full length CDs (which are both AWESOME!) and an EP, and have been touring extensively.  They've even gone over to Europe!  And rumor has it that they are very popular over there... which doesn't suprise me at all since they are one of the BEST bands in the world!!!!  Now they are where they are right now and I think they are planning to record a new album very, very, soon.  At least I think they are... I know they have a few new songs made.  Anyway... I hope you got a little bit smarter about knowing who exactly this band called Jimmy Eat World is.  Have a great one and buy all their cds and go to all their shows.

Where exactly did their name come from?
This is a very interesting story.  Two of Tom's brothers, Jimmy and Ed, were having an argument one day when the band was over for something.  And while they were fighting Jimmy locked Ed out of his room.  This got Ed quite a bit ticked off and brought him to result in the kind of evil revenge that kids are known for.  Grabbing some crayons and a peice of paper, Ed responded to his big brother's meanness by drawing a picture of this big ol' HUGE FAT guy swallowing up the eath with the words "Jimmy Eat World!" at the bottom.  He then stuck it to the door that he was locked out of.  FEEL THE WRATH OF ED!!!!  Of course, all the guys thought his was hillarious, thus naming their band Jimmy Eat World.
