Rua Line-Up
Rua was originally formed by Iain MacLeod (Shooglenifty) and Jimmy Young, on their leaving the House Band, in 1986 Edinburgh. The current line-up is-

Jimmy Young.
The founder and leader of the band playing Northumbrian Pipes, flute, whistle and percussion. He has just returned to New Zealand from a year overseas where he recorded his first solo album, 'Pipeworks' for Greentrax Records in Scotland. He also tours as a duo with James Wilkinson.

Denny Stanway.
The lead vocalist with Rua. Denny's expressive and soulful singing brings a contemporary edge to the mainly Celtic repertoire of the band. Her work with the Coalrangers and, as a duo, with Jon Hooker has enhanced her reputation and range as a singer. She also provides much of the percussion for the instrumental sets.

Davy Stuart.
Davy is the multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, cittern, viola, fiddle and keyboards. An instrument maker of some note, his instruments are played by the likes of Iain MacLeod, Chris Newman, Tony McManus, Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny. As part of the group, Claddagh, he was also a winner of the NZ Best Folk Album of the Year Award.

James Wilkinson.
Known for his innovative guitar and bass work, James also shares the vocals in the band.He has just released his second solo CD for White Cloud Recordings. Over the years James has played in many bands including the jazz-group Hampster as well as session work on many other diverse albums.

Jon Hooker.
The guitarist's guitarist. Jon provides the subtle and sensitive guitar accompaniment behing the vocal side of Rua as well as adding a blues feel to the overall sound. He is currently working on a CD of blues material and will, this year, start work on Denny's first solo recording.
