New York City has some of the most beautiful theaters in the world.  In the past several years, theater owners have begun to renovate these glorious structures rather than ripping them down (as was the trend in the 1970's where many of New York's finest theaters were turned to rubble). Here are some of my favorite theaters from an architectural perspective..

The New Amsterdam is the shining glory of theatre renovations. Once housed the infamous Zigfield Follies and was in complete disrepair.
There is a fabulous book available which shows the wonderful restoration and gives you a glimpse in the theatre's glorious past.
