Roundabout was able to redeem themselves with this fabulous production of Alan Bennett's Talking Heads. 7 different stories are told by 7 different performers. The night I went was "Program A" which featured 4 of the 7 stories. The performers were Brenda Wehle, Christine Ebersole, Frances Sternhagen and Kathleen Chalfant. Should you see "Program B", Valerie Mahaffey, Daniel Davis and Lynn Redgrave would take the stage and offer you the 3 remaining stories and Ms. Sternhagen may join the "Program B" as well.
It's an amazing literary evening as you listen to introspective stories about these individuals speak of greed, aging, obession and being trapped. Yet rather than remaining bitter about the turn of events in their lives, each in their own way has an epiphany of sorts. The evening is filled with laughter, sadness and most of all, thought. |
