Welcome to My Cabaret Page
Cabaret is literally defined as a restaurant or establishment which provides musical entertainment while serving liquor. However, when often asked what kind of music Cabaret is, I'm usually left a little stumped. There is truly no defined musical genre that represents Cabaret. I've been to Cabarets where I've heard Pop, Jazz, Standards, Foreign Music, etc. So, my best definition for Cabaret would be an environment contained of many musical offerings but performed in an intimate setting (with drinks). Often, there is a direct connection between the performer and the audience as the performer brings you into their world and shares with you a little piece of themself. If you've never had an opportunity to see a live Cabaret show, go see one. As the late Nancy LaMott once said, it is truly a labor of love. Cabaret performers invest so much of their heart, soul, time and money into their shows and often never come close to breaking even. Below are some selected artists with links to their sites followed by "Up & Coming Artists" and a page filled with links for all your Cabaret needs! Enjoy~

As with many performers, cabaret singers have maintained successful careers in other entertainment venues. Barbara Cook, Julie Wilson and Karen Mason have all enjoyed the bright lights of Broadway (Karen, being seen recently at the Winter Garden in Mamma Mia!). Rosemary Clooney had a brief movie career, most notably co-starring with Bing Crosby in White Christmas and both Bobby Short and Michael Feinstein have enjoyed various T.V. and film appearances. Regrettably, Nancy LaMott died at the very young age of 43 (the link to the webpage incorrectly indicates she died at 41), right at the point when she was becoming a star, having already established herself as a golden voice within the cabaret community.
