There's nothing quite like using gravity to your advantage...that is unless you're using glide power to scoot across a field full of fresh snow!

Winter is only what you make of it - and if you get dumped on frequently you can make a great deal of it.

However this winter and last winter have been unusually dry and snowless, with only one or two snows deep enough to ski on. Make you want to move to Sweden...

I've also included some links to some of my favorite ski web pages.

Although "Downhill" may be the passion - when you live in the flats you have to embrace Cross-Country just as a matter of sanity.

Preparing for the popular F.F.F.P. (Full Frontal Facial Plant) right into wet and sticky snow. (Notice that I'm showing REALLY good form.)

Whether it's skiing through the hills and dales of eastern South Dakota (above) or in the Black Hills (left & right), cross country skiing is a great way to get out and make the most of winter. After all, winter - like anything else - is all what you make of it...right?
