Mountain Man
In the foothills of the Tetons in a cabin I had made I was snowed in by a blizzard and wondering why I had stayed. They say I am a mountain man but, they don't know how I have prayed. I trap for furs as a living and its a terrible life. For twenty long years I have been without my sweet wife. I think of my darling as I lie here in bed, I wish I were with her but, she is long dead. No other can replace her and I will never believe that she is not with me on this cold winter's eve. She is the love of my life and I will never forget. Each day I do miss her and long for her yet. I live a life without people and I chose it for me because no one can replace her and that is the way it must be. Mountain men are just people and many are kind but, we all left something behind. For some it was heartache for some it was pain. For me it was memories and I'll not have them again.
