~Moonbeams ~

I lie in bed and look at you

as the moonbeams strike your hair.

They bathe your body lovingly

as I lie next to my lady fair.

You look so sweet and innocent

and I am so proud of you.

I love you for the way you look

and for all the sweet things you do.

I know I will not sleep tonight

unless I turn my back to you.

You are such a lovely creature

and I have known so very few.

We have been together for many years

but I never tire of looking at you.

So, if the moon goes away tonight

I'll pull it back to you.

Moonbeams caress your lovely hair

and it sparkles in the light.

So, please forgive me if you will

I am going to stare at you all night.
