PRESENT
I am a Systems Administrator by profession with graduate and post graduate degrees. Since 1999, I have worked in Dallas, Texas at the corporate headquarters of
Interstate Batteries Systems of America (IBSA).  In my current job I support the Interstate Batteries Enterprise.  I am responsible for implementing, monitoring and reporting on all Information Technology Group systems, processes, and procedures that occur during the evening/overnight hours. This involves all batch processes and critical system functions, system backups and archives, and automated software updates to servers and workstations.  I assist in the preparation of end-user documentation for updated software and patches.  I am responsible for the Systems Management Server package builds and deployments, new user account setups and setting of permissions for user accounts and file shares.  I troubleshoot second level support issues, as well as build, install and configure new servers.  In March 2001, January 2003, May 2005, and December 2006 I received Interstate Batteries Information Technology Excellence Award.  In November 2001 I was named Employee of the Year.  I worked first as a Support Analyst.  In May 2002 I was promoted to Senior Support Analyst.  In February 2008 I accepted the position of Night Systems Administrator.

BACKGROUND
Born in San Antonio, Texas, I grew up in a career United States Air Force (USAF) family. Upon my father's retirement from the USAF I lived in Schertz and then DeSoto, Texas graduating from DeSoto High School in 1971.

I completed my bachelor's degree at the
University of Texas at Arlington in 1975.  Upon graduation I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.  I graduated from the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Platoon Leader Maintenance Management Course, and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia.  My next assignment  was Fort Lewis, Washington.  I served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Weapons Platoon Leader, Infantry Battalion Maintenance Officer, and Maintenance Platoon Leader.  I came off active duty in December 1978. I  was honorably discharged in 1982 at the rank of Captain, Ordnance Corps, US Army Reserves. In June 1977 I was named an Outstanding Junior Officer of the Ninth Infantry Division.

I attended
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas earning a Master of  Arts in Religious Education degree.  I worked for the next 16 years in Christian Education.  I served churches in Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas.  I earned a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Administration degree in 1987 from Pacific Western University (now California Miramar University) in San Diego, California. Since leaving full time church work I worked as a Senior Training Specialist for ATC Communication training computer systems for American Express, for Hilton Hotels supporting their web site, and Interstate Batteries.  I also attended Collin County Community College in Frisco, Texas studying computer network technology software/hardware and visual basic programming.   I hold CompTIA A+, i-Net+ and Network+ computer certifications.

PERSONAL INTERESTS/FAMILY
I have been published in over a dozen magazines, trade journals, newsletters, and newspapers.   I also write a Book Blog which features books I have enjoyed with an emphasis on books of military history.
 
I have been married to the former Benita Breeding of DeSoto since December 1974.  We have three grown children and one grandchild.
