Jim Horvath is an accomplished and
experienced Human Resources Professional with a proven track record in creating
HR vision, developing and implementing strategic HR applications, establishing
effective management partnerships, guiding all levels of employees to achieving
their objectives and delivering agreed upon HR goals and objectives for
management.
Jim's strengths in Human Resources cover
over 20 years of progressive "hands-on" experience in Strategic
Manpower Planning - Compensation and Benefit Plan design and administration -
Innovative Recruitment & Talent Retention program design - creating exciting
Employee Relations and Communications agendas - delivering on Diversity
initiatives - running cost-effective/high-volume Fulfillment Center operations
and designing Coaching, Mentoring and Internship programs.
In his last position as First Vice
President of Human Resources at Astoria Federal Savings and Loan Association,
Jim was able to align the Human Resources mission with the association's goals
and objectives after its completion of a major acquisition with a competing
bank. This allowed Jim to measure the bench strength of the Human Resources
organization and determine its capabilities and establish a realistic and
achievable agenda in an agreed upon timeframe.
Prior, Jim was the Corporate Director,
Human Resources at USA Networks with full responsibility for all classical
Human Resources functions. These responsibilities extended to USA Network, the
Sci-Fi Channel, Network Operations, Fulfillment & Distribution Center
operations and Facilities Management. In this assignment his accomplishments
extended into Executive & International Recruitment & Retention
initiatives, Compensation & Benefit Plan Design, start-up of a Performance
Training and Development department, Succession Planning to prepare
organization for new launch initiatives, Change Management and Diversity
initiatives to accommodate expansion goals and objectives. After a takeover in April 1998 by the
Universal Television Group, there was a restructuring of management team.
In 1982, Jim was recruited by Degussa
Corporation to develop the position of Manager, Corporate Personnel and help
redefine the HR infrastructure. In this capacity, Jim was able to develop
exciting and highly effective recruitment programs to attract top-quality
talent. These successes paved the way for the opportunity to develop Degussa
Corporations first Management Development Department. With this challenge, Jim
was promoted to Manager of Management Development & Administration, and was
able to design, from the ground-up, a new and exciting Training department to
address the performance objectives of this international organization.
Before joining Degussa Corporation, Jim
held a number of key management positions in Human Resources developing a HR
infrastructure for an Engineering and Design company (ORBA Corporation) and was
involved as Manager, International Recruitment for the Camp David Peace Accord,
with responsibility for worldwide recruiting of this consortium of major
construction companies called Negev Airbase Constructors.
Jim is a graduate of Seton Hall University
with a B.S. in Industrial Relations and Business Education and is a licensed
educator in the State of New Jersey. He is certified in: Leadership,
Teambuilding and Employee Communications Development training. Is a co/founding
Board Member of the Cable Telecommunications Human Resources Association
(CTHRA). He is also co-founder of the
Advisory Board of the Borden Avenue Veterans Residence, which is designed to
help homeless veterans return to the workplace and society. Here he served as President of the Advisory
Council to private industry in the city of New York. He has also served for 8
years as an Elected Official (Council President) in the Borough of Lodi, NJ
responsible for major construction and Green Acres projects. He continues to serve in a variety of
volunteer initiatives involving homeless veterans, the physically challenged
and serves as President of his Church Council.
