Microsoft Office 2000 Introductory Enhanced (Shelly Cashman)

Two 3 1/2 inch floppy disks

Please have textbook and disks at our first class meeting.

 

Course Description:

This course provides in-depth exploration and practice in the applications of technology to classroom assessment and interventions. Readings and projects address the implications of educational software (courseware), Internet access, and state of the art technology in instructional planning and classroom management.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

1. To empower participants to use Microsoft Office (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, Internet, and Windows 2000) as an integrated tool for the organization, analysis, and presentation of information.

2. To furnish participants with the knowledge necessary to utilize the Internet as a tool for research and communication.

3. To develop an awareness of the social, cultural, and educational impact of personal computer technologies particularly in the school, workplace, and home.

Grading

Points will be assigned for each project or assignment. Assignments will be graded based on  five criterion; They must be original, clear, persuasive, grammatically correct, and on time. Points are deducted for each 72-hour period that an assignment is late.

Email communications are part of this course. You must read your email messages each day and respond to the instructor and members of your learning group within 24 hours.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Class attendance and effective participation: Students are expected to attend and participate in all classes. This includes communications that takes place inside and outside of the classroom, i.e. email, threaded discussions, etc.

APA Format Paper, Resume, Professional Bio Sheet, Letter of Commendation, Flyer

PowerPoint Standup Presentation:

Create a Power Point presentation based on a lesson of your choice. The presentation should be approx. 15 minutes in length and you are required to answer questions on the content and the creation of the presentation.

 

Internet Binder -- Keep an Internet resource binder that will include 10 resources related to your specific content area. You may use the following example or create one of your own.

Description:    White paper on virtual LANs suitable for CIS or MIS classes

 

Learning  Journal: A 100-word journal entry per week. The journal entries should explain the learning process you are experiencing in this class. Tell your audience what you are learning, what questions you have, and what challenges you are experiencing in this class. Print the journal and include an electronic copy (saved as Rich Text Format) on your floppy disk.

 

All work from the above projects should be turned in on paper and on disk. Please label each disk with your name and the name of the project or projects including a file that explains which filenames pertain to which assignments.


 ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:

Students are expected to perform according to a code of academic honesty that is published in the college catalog.

 

No assignments will be accepted after the last scheduled class meeting.
