Professional Biography of Jim Greene
James P. Greene, ("Jim"), has been a
professional educator for more than 20 years. He has been able to combine a
successful teaching career with a successful training and consulting practice.
He is a highly effective communicator who has combined a passion for teaching
with a strong knowledge of computer systems, the role of technology in
education, learning styles, presentation techniques, and management practices.
Recently he was named to the position of Assistant
Principal for Academic Affairs at Fr. Judge High School where he was a math and
computer teacher for the previous 10 years. His responsibilities include hiring
and training of new teachers, evaluating teachers, creating the master schedule
for all students and faculty, and overseeing all academic programs of the
school. He was the Internal Coordinator for the recent Middle States Evaluation
that Fr. Judge successfully completed.
Jim earned his Bachelor's Degree in Economics with a
minor in Education from Allentown College of St. Francis DeSales in 1974. He
has been able to combine a teaching career on the High School and College
level. He has taught for the Parochial School System of Philadelphia for more
than 2 decades. He has also taught graduate and undergraduate courses at
Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences, Chestnut Hill College,
Philadelphia Community College, and LaSalle University. He has taught such
courses as "Introduction and Advanced Computer Software
Applications", Desktop Publishing, Techniques of Professional
Presentations, and Introductory Mathematics. He has received commendations over
the years from his administrators for dedicated, loyal and exemplary service.
He uses an active learning style and encourages his students to explore
learning methods that work best for them. He also encourages them to articulate
their knowledge in both written and verbal form. He has received many awards
and honors including the Tandy Technology Educator of the Year in 1996.
In 1990, Jim and four other teachers at Father Judge
High School started the Achieve program. It is an innovative program designed
to help at-risk students who had a history of low motivation, discipline
problems, and/or academic difficulty. The program is designed to give the
students a good foundation for academic, social, and psychological success and
boasts a 95% success rate. It has become a model program for the Archdiocese of
Philadelphia Secondary School system. He continues to work in this highly
regarded program as a mathematics instructor.
In addition to his high school teaching, he has been
sought out to teach other teachers how to use computers in their classrooms. He
has worked with a local foundation in their effort to train teachers to use
computers in their classroom.
Jim has worked the last 7 summers as a contract trainer
for the largest computer training company in the world. His classroom
evaluations consistently rank among the top 15% worldwide. Students comment
that they appreciate his personal, yet professional manner and his ability to
explain complex information in simple terms. He became a "Certified"
Computer trainer in 1991.
Jim earned a dual Pennsylvania State certification in
Mathematics Education and Social Studies and in 1996 he received a Master's
Degree in Education from St. Joseph's University. His graduate studies include
courses in Administration and Training and Development.
Jim has been a training consultant to some of the largest Philadelphia area corporations and is the computer trainer and mathematics tutor for two of the largest trade unions in the Delaware Valley.
