Will Commence Building in a few weeks.
          ----------------------------------
Last Saturday a deal was consummated, that will be another factor for Gas City in the way of manufacturing enterprises.
Land was sold to Fred Minder, who is operating a foundry and manufacturing wind mills, pumps and tanks at Sac City, Iowa, and the plant will be moved to Gas City as soon as buildings can be built and ready for occupancy. The foundry is quite extensive and will employ quite a number of men. The works will be located near the M. K. & T. tracks, not far from the Katy depot.
A start has now been made, and it will not be long before other industries will follow, and in a short time Gas City can point to other enterprises with pride, as she now does its zinc smelters, and will soon become the best town in Southeast Kansas, not only in size, but will bar none the tiller.

Mrs. Minder living west of the Katy Depot has several machines for making wool mittens, gloves, etc., and as the family are getting  in condition to work again after so long a seige of sickness, she will appreciate anything in this line you will have her make for you.

         GAS CITY'S FOUNDRY
                        -------
Work on Foundation for Buildings Commenced Monday.
                        -------
The Herald in its issue of Jan 30th made mention of the fact that ground had been purchased south west of the "Katy" tracks on which to locate a foundry and manufacturing plant for making wind mills, pumps etc. Last Monday the work of laying the foundation for the buildings was commenced, and will be carried on rapidly to the early completion of the plant. The works are being put in by Fred Minder and others of Sac City, Iowa, who have already commenced getting their machinery in readiness for shipment from that place, where they have been operating for several years, to transfer to this city.
The foundry and works will in time employ a large number of men, and will be another factor in an industrial way towards the up building of the city. The windmills and pumps manufactured by them have a good reputation and with a business already established will be a credit to the city and a source of revenue to the projectors from the start.

Turns out Gas Engine That's a Winner.

Yesterday G. E. Elliott was in the office of the Herald and vouch-safed the information that for several weeks he had been using a gas engine from the machine shop and foundry works of Fred Minder, of this city, and is of a kind the plant will make a business of turning out.
Mr. Elliott says he had an engine in his Feed and Planing Mill of 2 horse power, before replacing it with the 4 horse power gas engine manufactured  at the Minder works, and that it does the same work, with a saving of fuel. He also gives the information that the gas engine is simply constructed, strong and durable, and so made that in case of an accident at any time, without much cost it can easily be repaired at the Minder plant.
It is Mr. Elliotts intention this fall to have a larger one made by Mr. Minder, and installed in his mill.
We hope to see the Minder Foundry and Machine Shops grow into a large industry, and every person in Gas City who has anything in that line of work, should get it done at the Minder works, and help to push a good thing along.
