Participants receive one point for each correct prediction.
In the case of a tie, Best Picture is the tie-breaker.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3: RULES FOR THE NHL PLAYOFF COMPETITION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All selections will be made up front. Once the playoff pairings are set, predict the 8 winners in the first round, the 4 winners in the second round, 2 winners in the third and the eventual winner of the Stanley Cup.
1 point will be awarded for each correct prediction of a winner in Round 1.
2 points will be awarded for each correct prediction of a winner in Round 2.
4 points will be awarded for each correct prediction of a winner in Round 3.
8 points will be awarded for each correct prediction of a winner in Round 4.
No Tiebreaker.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4: RULES FOR THE TRIPLE CROWN
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each participant will be able to invest $100 in the 3 races in any manner they see fit, except that you must wager at least $75 over the course of the 3 races in order to qualify to win.
The winner will be the person who finishes with the most money.
No Tiebreaker.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5: RULES FOR THE GRAND SLAM GOLF TOURNAMENTS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each participant will be able to invest $100 in the 4 major golf tournaments. For each of the four tournaments, you have to wager at least $25 or whatever amount you have left if it is less than $25. More than one golfer may be selected, but there will be a limit of 5 players that can be picked in each tournament. Minimum bet on any individual should be $1 (or all of your money, if less than $1), and bets should always be in whole dollars, unless wagering all of your money, in which case one wager can be an odd amount.
Odds will be used that are published from a reliable internet source. The amount of the wager will be multiplied by the odds value if the selected golfer finishes in the top three (including ties). First place will receive a full payout; second place will receive one-half the payout; third place will receive one-third the payout.
If there is a playoff, only the playoff winner will be considered a first place finisher. Other playoff participants will each receive a second place payout, no matter when they get eliminated in the playoff.
If there is a tie for second place, each player will earn second place money and no third place money will be awarded.
No Tiebreaker.
The winner is the person who finishes with the most money.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6: RULES FOR THE NBA PLAYOFF COMPETITION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Same as NHL -All selections must be made up front for all rounds of the playoffs.
1 point will be awarded for each correct prediction in the first round, 2 points for each correct pick in the second, 4 points for the next round, 8 points for the championship.
No Tiebreaker.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7: RULES FOR THE REGULAR SEASON NFL COMPETITION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No later than Sunday of each week (and the Wednesday before Thanksgiving for the Thanksgiving Day NFL games), contestants must select the team that they expect to win on Monday Night, and by how many points. The number of points must be a whole number i.e. one cannot say 2.5 points etc.
1 point will be awarded to each person each week who correctly picks the winner. A second point is awarded each week to each person who correctly picks the victory margin, if they picked the winning team.
If no one picks the correct team, there will be no winner that week.
There will be no tie-breaker. If more than 1 person ends up with the same number of points for this contest, they will be declared co-winners and awarded points as outlined in Appendix A.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8) RULES FOR THE MISS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At least a day before the event, each participant should
pick five girls. Pictures can be viewed at the http://www.missusa.com/mainevent/index.html
website.
One point will be awarded for each girl who makes the first
“cut” (such as the top 10). An additional point will be awarded each girl as
she moves to the next highest level, with the overall winner getting one more
point than the runner-up. The FFT participant who has the highest total points
determines the winner. This means that someone may actually pick the overall
winner but still not win the contest if someone else, for example, picked 2
girls who finished in the top 5.
No Tiebreaker.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9: RULES FOR THE MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL COMPETITION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All picks will be made up front, by September 1st. All contestants must pick the following:
The 3 expected division winners from each league.
The 1 expected wild card team from each league.
The expected 2 winners after the first playoff round from each league.
The expected 1 winner after the second playoff round from each league.
The expected World Series Winner.
Scoring will be as follows:
End of Regular Season -
Each correctly picked division winner and wild card team counts as 2 points.
If an expected division winner ends up as the wild card team - 1 point.
If an expected wild card team ends up as a division winner - 1 point.
End of First Round - Each correctly picked team that survives the first round - 3 points.
End of Second Round - Each correctly picked team that survives the second round - 4 points
End of World Series - Correctly picked World Series Winner - 5 points.
There will be no tie-breaker. If more than one person ties, they are considered co-winners.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10: RULES FOR THE NFL PLAYOFF COMPETITION
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All selections will be made up front.
Once the playoff pairings are set, everyone predicts the 4 winners in the wildcard round, the 4 winners in the second round, 2 winners in the third and the eventual winner of the Super Bowl.
Since there are 4 games in each of the first two rounds they will be worth the same. Here are the point totals for each round:
1 point will be awarded for each correct prediction of a winner in Round 1.
1 point will be awarded for each correct prediction of a winner in Round 2.
2 points will be awarded for each correct prediction of a winner in Round 3.
3 points will be awarded for each correct prediction of a winner in Round 4.
A tie-breaker will be used since there are only 11 games played. We will use margin of victory in the Super Bowl, and you must correctly pick the winner of the Super Bowl. If there is a tie and none of the tied participants correctly predicted the Super Bowl winner, the result will be a tie.
Note: For the overall tie-break for the awarding of the FFT one of the tiebreakers is the Total Number of Points scored in the Super Bowl. So this pick must be made at this time as well as the previously mentioned tie-breaker.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11: RULES FOR THE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The bowl games used in the competition are the top 25 or so bowls published in the papers. Games take place from mid-December thru early January.
Each person must pick the expected winner of each game with 1 point awarded for each correct pick.
No Tiebreaker.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
APPENDIX A: SCORING FOR THE FFT EVENTS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scoring for the individual events will be calculated as follows:
Third place will be worth 5 points for each FFT event.
Fourth place will be worth 3 points for each FFT event.
Fifth place will be worth 1 point for each FFT event.
If participants tie for one or more awards, the points for
the awards should be totaled and divided among the tied participants. For
example, if 2 people tie for second place, they would split the 7 second place
points and the 5 third place points, each receiving 6 points. Fourth and fifth
place points would be awarded to appropriate finishers.
If 4 people tie for third place, they would split the 5, 3
and 1 (total of 9) points for 3rd thru 5th place, each
receiving 2.25 points.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
APPENDIX B: ANNUAL AWARDING OF THE FFT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The trophy will be awarded on an annual basis after the Super Bowl.
If more than 1 person ends up tied after the year with the same number of points for the FFT, we will use the following tie breakers:
1st Tiebreaker - Total number of first place finishes. (Including Ties)
2nd Tiebreaker - Total points scored in the Super Bowl.
Note: This must be selected by all potential FFT winners during the NFL Playoff Competition.
3rd Tiebreaker - Whoever has gone the longest without winning the trophy receives it.
4th Tiebreaker - Coin Flip supervised by Nana & Papa
