| Langley (February 19, 2000) Intelligence has wrought a plague of ignorance and pain, intruding into worlds of politics and science, unleashing unforeseen upheavals and then justifying existence through them. Presidents and shahs, emperors and kings; it falls to those whom god has shed grace upon to move the pieces, even when the opponents are our own conscious-raised, college-aged sons and daughters. Inevitably, the central goals are lost amid the havoc and the pieces tumble off the board, and lie on desert sands or jungle floors or cement sidewalks, life and ideals -- bleeding away. |
